What Do The Following Players Have In Common?
DB10-2 replied to DanielNegreanu's topic in General Poker Forum
Thanks for being clear and up front about it. I have no doubt that FCP and FTP are very profitable for their owners/consultants etc., and that such information could come to light during discovery. As I sit here in my lofty LA high rise law office, I can envision WPT wanting to make a stink about the 7 players' online poker incomes, tax reporting, you name it. I run into that problem all the time--someone claims lost earnings of X, then we find out when we look at their taxes that they have reported earnings for that period of 1/2 X.I think what you're saying is that there could then be a leap -

What Do The Following Players Have In Common?

DN: I'm a fan; I once got your autograph at the Bike in L.A. I gotta ask: where has anybody said they're in it for the money? All the accounts I've read are that they say they're standing on "principle" and they care more about the poker than making anything off the suit.Keep in mind I haven't got even 1% of the "inside" knowledge you do about this situation. I don't talk to Barry Greenstein regularly, nor do I have Steve Lipscomb's cell number, etc. Frankly, I don't know definitively who's right and who's wrong on these issues. That's for the courts to decide or the parties to settle on their -

copags are, IMO, the best cards money can buy. -
hilarious. he says he's going to play lag, then starts limping a bunch of hands. this guy kills me.
-
yeah. i was definitely overthinking it.

DN left an O8 question in there from before the series that is very interesting. I'm hoping he remembers to answer it. *nudge*

yeah, it is. if your bet is called, you have to turn over. if you dupe the other guy into turning over first, then show the nuts, you're a prick in my book. to defeat this, if i make a call on the river, i never show first even if someone asks me what i have. i respond, "i called you," then wait to see their cards. i only show mine if i have a winner or if someone was on such a bad bluff they just muck immediately and i have to show to claim the pot.

does anyone know where i can find a small animated .gif of hellmuth shoving his money in with KQ against barry's QQ? i still crack up every time i see that.

(and sorry hblask, i edited that most recent post you quoted as you were replying. not trying to make you look stupid.)

that cuts both ways, though. the WPT doesn't make its money from winning WPT tournaments, it makes its money from selling the TV rights and other merchandising generated as a result of WPT holding its tournaments. i think the argument then is, why should the WPT profit even further by being allowed to make money off the hard work and sweat of the people who do win its tournaments? not to mention that the players have paid for the right to play them in entry fees and juice.analogy: just because i own a football stadium you have paid me to play in doesn't mean i should be able to sell pictures o

excellent contribution to the discussion, tron.

we may just have to disagree on this. outside of the WSOP, which has its circuit events, the WPT is the biggest, best stage upon which poker players can showcase their talents on cable television. WPT even advertises "the biggest payouts on the planet!" on its shows. just as the NHL has a one-step-down league in the AHL, which is basically the minors, the WPT is the biggest and almost only year-round poker show in town while, for televised poker (the market this suit is concerned with, near as i can tell) the actual WSOP only happens for about a month, its circuit events are not televised regu

i don't agree with the "attention" argument. anybody who pays attention to poker already knows that most pros pimp online poker sites. that's not news. so what attention could it draw that's not more or less already out there?anyway, cases like this can take years. since this one is relatively high-profile as a result of its being involved with the entertainment industry, which is very fast-moving, there's some chance it could resolve relatively quickly. there are two schools of thought for the WPT:1. "let's drag these players through the mud, spend a ton of money litigating this, and drag it

i save those for the shakedown letters and pleadings.

i'm a lawyer.i've read the legal complaint and i think it's legit. i took antitrust law, and as they spell the allegations out in their complaint, if they can prove them, i think they have a case.DN says it's never happened that WPT has used the releases to inappropriately use someone's likeness. however, the complaint lists examples wherein gordon, duke, and i think lederer have been included in footage used in the WPT video game and fantasy camp. if these players have deals with other video game companies or fantasy camps, it can't be helpful to them and their bottom line to be depicted in a

Is It Wrong To Bluff Out An Opponent For A Sidebet?
DB10-2 replied to arpinology's topic in General Poker Forum
if you think you currently have the best hand, and one that can eliminate the all in player, there is no reason not to protect it with a bet. it's also more "acceptable" in earlier rather than later stages of the tournament.as others have mentioned, bluffing at a dry side pot is brain dead. -
i try to deposit and the site keeps telling me i'm not logged in even if i use the proper log/pass. this on a mac with safari. what gives?

it's about a block off the strip, just south of the trop and across the street from MGM, kind of on the western end. it's relatively far from bellagio, casear's, venetian, wynn, and places like that. i didn't go in, but i also heard it was nothing special.
