  1. if you really want action you should play pot limit omaha...now theres a game with nonstop action...i personally think its a lot more difficult than NL. Talk about wild swings.I get a little tired of people trashing limit games---not to say that you did, because you didnt. I love taking on NL players in limit 8 or better games, triple draw, omaha, etc...however good they claim to be at NL they are often horrible at these other games to the point of being fishy.I've said it before and I'll say it again. A good poker player is a well rounded poker player. Who wants to be a one trick pony? I pers
  2. yep, thats right. first prize gets a million dollars of play money for ultimate bet. should be awesome
  3. From the info I've heard from various sources it sounds like Ben Affleck is actually a pretty solid player. I dont think you can claim that "beginner's luck" led him to win the CA state championship anymore than you can claim that Raymer won last year for the same reason. Both players log more than a few hours at high stakes tables with extremely solid players, and obviously have a fine knowledge for the game. The "beginner's luck" theory is somewhat retarded...Affleck takes the game very seriously and from most accounts is a good player. When the hell does anyone win a tournament with "begin

  5. I watched the 2004 WSOP main event the other day and once again was quite impressed with Dan Harrington. You don't hear much about him becuase he is semi-retired from big time play, but I am of the opinion that he is one of the best NL players in the world. His record speaks for itself (check it out on the hendon mob database) and his making the final table two years in a row is amazing considering that he doesnt even play that often these days. I really like his tight style of play, but he can mix it up pretty well...an excellent player to watch and learn from.
  6. Unfortunately play money games are an absolute joke the vast majority of the time. While intended to help broke people play and new players learn, most people who play on them treat it like a joke and play idiotic poker. No one benefits from this all in and call fest So even if you practice good poker strategy you will probably end up with a headache. In my opinion its much better to learn playing at the penny and nickel tables. While they tend to be a bit bizarre as well, people tend to take it a little more seriously when there is at least some money involved. Either way its a good way to
  7. My IPOD is one of my favorite tools for poker. When I get steamed, I turn on some reggae or Johnny Cash. When I need to get amped I turn on some cheesy techno or rap. I can barely play poker without it, especially online games. It is especially nice to have it with me when grinding out a mind numbing eight hour omaha or limit hold em game at a casino. If i ever make it to a WSOP final table im gonna throw off all my opponents by break dancing during hands while blasting 80's hip hop.
  8. Yeah, I am tilting quite a bit, which doesnt help at all. I guess its a mixture of bad cards, spotty play, and evil forces out to get me. Well maybe not the last, but it sure feels that way...example...was just playing a stud sng (by far my best game) i was short stacked and grinding away. Anyways, i had to bring it in nine hands in a row. That's right, nine hands in a row. I have never seen anyone have that happen to them. No skill or trickery could save me from that damage to my stack. I need a vacation. by the way---ultimate bet or fulltilt? im leaning towards fulltilt.
  9. Ok, so this week has been the worst poker week of my life. I have played about 3-6 hrs a day on average (all online---havent been playing much live action lately). After a great week at the stud tables and three great finishes in mtt stud h/l tourneys i have f0und myself on a nasty losing streak at almost every game i play...a streak unlike anything i have ever experienced. No matter what game i play, whether it be a ring game, mtt, or sng, i either sit there and stagnate or build up a lead only to blow it at a crucial moment or suffer a string of bad beats. Granted, i have been making some
  10. there is a reason why Supersystem recommends you read the entire book before jumping into just one chapter. ..a good poker player is a well rounded poker player. I dont see how anyone could claim to be a skilled NL HE player without having at least some degree of skill and knowledge in Limit HE...not to mention seven card stud. I play pretty much everything: NL HE, LM HE, OM (h-l/limit/pot limit) Stud/stud hi-lo, Razz, Lowball, 2-7 triple draw, five card draw, etc. Not to say that i am a master in all of these games, i am certainly better in some than others, but i feel comfortable playing any

  12. I would pay,and I would never play with these guys again. I used to be quite a skilled cheat in my younger days, but have since realized the error in my ways...and have also gotten good enough that my play alone makes me money. I don't play homegames too often anymore, but i know that the type of cheaters you will typically run into are not usually skilled enough to create a serious edge for themselves, maybe a slight edge, but nothing that cannot be overcome if you are a better than average player their edge will most likely be nil...just look for out signals, bottom decking, 2nd card deals,

  14. Ok, some of this has been covered already but oh well: some things to consider:1. Read Super/System 1 and 2 back to back and then read them again. I am a profitable online player but still read poker books and study on a daily basis...the internet is a great tool. Read posts here or go to cardplayer.com and read the daily material. There is always more to be learned, and there is wealth of information out there. Not all of it is good, but you can never stop learning about poker. Watch the mistakes other players make and learn from them, likewise, watch the skilled players and learn from then
  15. Ok, i dont have the link, but someone else posted it already somewhere...its from All In magazine...an article Antonio wrote that deserves nothing less than to be burned. It has no redeeming quality and is nothing more than 500 words about Antonio going to the club and looking down on everyone cuz he has his own table with bottle service. It is the worst article in a poker mag ever. He is a good hold em player, but wow, this guy really makes an ass of himself.
  16. Ok, i never said he wasnt good, i said he wasnt as good as he thinks he is. And yes, i think he is a tool...this coming from an associate who knows him quite well and has played with him on numerous occasions. And i was not upset at losing, as that is what two dollar tourneys are for, unless you want to grind out for five mind numbing hours to win what you could have made playing cash games for an hour. I just found his behavior to be low class...which is fine...i dont think he is on par with Negreanu, Ivey, Hellmuth, etc. Maybe he will be someday, but i dont think so. By the way, there are fa
  17. So i sit down to play in a poker stars two dollar buy in tourney today. As usual, a player goes all in preflop the first hand of the game. It was none other than the above, pro Micheal Mizrachi. I knew his account name from his win of the weekly 250 k tourney. He proceeded to go all in every hand pre flop, until his 9-5 offsuit cracked another guys k-j. I asked him why the hell he was playing in the game. He says "free two dollars, LOL." Anyways, he loses the next hand, which leaves him with about 1,500 in chips. He goes all in pre-flop. I call with 4-4, a hand i rarely ever play let alone c
  18. I don't here much about the WSOP winners of the last two years...it doesnt seem as if they have really had a lot of tournament success following their winning the big one. Correct me if I'm wrong. Do these guys play a lot of cash games? And who thinks another no name will win the big one this year? Pokerstars.com alone has given away almost 600 seats to the WSOP...
  19. Greetings. I currently play a lot of sit and go tourneys on Poker Stars to great results. I play anywhere from 5 to 50 dollar buy ins, in any of these games:NL Hold emStud H/LStudOmaha H/L (pref. Fixed Limit)Limit Hold emI make the most money playing NL (I finish in the money roughly 80% of the time) but Stud H/L is by far my best game. I often have diffculty getting into a good non hold em SNG on PokerStars as everyone is so Hold Em crazy...which explains why NL SNG's are my bread and butter as far as my bankroll. I am a better than average NL player, but Stud H/L is the one game i truly exc
