I guess most people on here just don't get the point. Its great the NLHE has become so popular and boosted poker to where it's at now, but it is absolutely taking over the World Series. Believe it or not, people want to play poker variations other than NLHE. The point is that Harrah's elminated many great events such as triple draw and deuce-to-seven. Worse off, they are scheduling many tournaments on top of each other that are not NLHE events. Many players are forced to choose between playing limit HE, stud, and omaha events because many of these events are scheduled on the same day. Th

The World Series of Poker was originally created to see who was the all around best poker player, not the all around best NLHE player. Its absurd that 80% of the events are HE events. Even though you only want to play HE, a lot of people care about the game of poker and all the different variations and the tradition that the WSOP brings to all those games and players. People like Doyle, Moss, Pearson, and Slim are why people love poker so much today. It is almost disrespectful to all these great players who made this game great to have a WSOP that is 80% HE. Whatever happened triple draw

Wsop - Why Not The World Poker Championship

Two questions. Does Harrah's or the WPT own rights to the Wynn? And when does Harrah's ownership of the WSOP end?Alpha -
I Won A Seat To A $1500 Wsop Tourney, Need Advice
Alpha1494 replied to Dratj's topic in General Poker Forum
1. The structure is slow, but the blinds start large compared to your stack, try and accumulate chips early.2. Don't really know about the best place to stay. I got a really fantastic rate at the Royale which is right next to the Rio.3. Full Tilt will not let you wear FCP gear. They will give you FT gear.4. When you get there, you will go to the FT lounge and tell them you are there and they will literally give you 3 $500 casino chips to go buy into your event with.5. I don't know anyone else playing that tourney.Hope that helpsAlpha -
If you pull up Phil's results on Cardplayer, he has won 5 NLHE WSOP bracelets, 1 PLHE bracelet, and 3 LHE bracelets. He has won a few O8B tournaments, but never at the WSOP. I was shocked to see how many final tables he's actually made in Omaha events (both WSOP and non-WSOP tournaments). I guess he does play a solid Omaha game, but he has never been given credit for it because he's never won an Omaha tourney at the WSOP. Just though some might find that interesting.Alpha

It is 100% within the players rules and rights to ask to see the bluffing players cards, but it is also 100% bad etiquette. They guy was bluffing, everyone knew he was bluffing, so when he mucks his cards it is most appropriate for everyone to let him save face and not have to show his 94o.If anyone listens to the circuit on cardplayer, there was a really good discussion between Gavin Smith, Joe Sebok, and Phil Hellmuth about how the biggest problems with all the amateurs coming into poker is that they violate this etiquette by asking to see cards frequently and also slow rolling their hands

On the final hand in 1980, all the money went in on the turn after Stuey had the nuts. Doyle made a decent sized bet on the flop with top to pair, and I'm assuming Stuey called knowing he would get all of Doyle's chips if he made his hand. I'm almost 100% positive that all the money went in with Doyle only having a 9% chance of winning.Alpha

Based on my knowledge, if the river is checked, then the showdown goes by position. If there was a bet on river, then the showdown goes to the bettor, then each subsequent caller. Of course, when the showdown reaches a player and he is first to show, he can still muck his cards. But there may be different rules regarding this at different casinos. Just my thoughts on the matter......Alpha

What Do You Think About Hoyt (easyh) Corkins All In Here?
Alpha1494 replied to themadmike's topic in General Poker Forum
Honestly, after seeing Hoyt play on TV, its amazing to me to see how he actually does well in some of the events he plays in. He has got to be the luckiest guy on the face of the planet. In the WPT event from a couple years ago, he made a donkey play and made perfect running 7's (with J7) to bust Phil Hellmuth's J9 on a flop that came 9-X-X. In the WSOP tournament of Champions, he was all in with QQ vs. AA and spiked a Q on the turn to cripple some guy. In the 2005 US Poker Championship he was all-in preflop with 78o against J-Dags 10-10. I'm sorry, I just don't like Hoyt. I think his ov -

It sounds to me like everyone is on the right page here. If you want to cash out, you have to cash out all of your chips and leave the game. It is very not cool to cash out your profit and continue to play. I also agree that if you plan on cashing out, it is always common courtesy to announce in advance when you plan to leave. My group of friends always decided on what that time frame should be (whether it be a half hour, hour, or couple rounds before you leave). We also thought it was appropriate to be allowed to cash out and leave at any time if you were stuck in the game, so you only h

If you read my statement appropriately, then you would understand what I was trying to say. I understand that both still chop. My comment is that it is the only possible straight that does not involve cards from both players hands (the straight does not contain a 4,5, or Q. Hence there are more possible cards to make another split pot straight, because there are still 4 of each card still left in the deck to make a 6-7-8-9-10 straight. It is less likely to make that chopped straight if the player holds 56, because there are only 3 6's in the deck to make that straight. This is another com

The reason there is a difference in tie percentage between 56 suited and 45 suited is because 56 suited vs QQ can't make a straight that results in a split unless it involves cards in one players hands. 45 suited vs QQ suited can make another straight that results in a chopped pot without involving cards in each players hand. That would be the 6-7-8-9-10. Its the only possible straight that is between both hands that doesn't give either a win. The cards between QQ and 56 are 7-8-9-10-J, and that's an obvious winner for QQ. The chances of the board coming 6-7-8-9-10 account for that extra

You said it yourself. When you checkraise that turn all in, it sure as hell doesn't look like you want to get called. In my opinion, on that board, if you had a king, the best play would be to either bet or check-call. If you check call, it allows you to make a really confusing river bet that may indeed get paid off by jacks. Checkraising with the 4th nuts (if you had a king) almost seems pointless because you are giving yourself an opportunity to have your opponent fold, therefore, he can't put more money in the pot. It seems out of place to make this check raise if you really want to ge

If you bet the turn and the river, you are making more money. Tournament play is about accumulating CHIPS. Cash games are about accumulating REAL MONEY. Why the hell would you give yourself a chance to make less moeny. Furthermore, if you had the worst hand (which you did) strong turn play results in your opponent giving you credit for a hand that beats jacks. You destroyed the equity in your hand by checking the turn. It made it clear you were beat (like I stated earlier), hence you lost equity on the hand because you didn't win. Thanks for coming out.

Here is where a difference between tournament and cash game play differs. Checking the turn in a tournament is a great play because it offers your opponent a chance to bluff and you can trap them for more chips. Cash games are different. If you check and your oppenent doesn't bet, you're losing a lot of equity in your hand. That's why I don't see a lot of people slow roll in cash games.

Checking the turn was weak, and it made it obvious you had a middle pair or just Ace high in my opinion. It sounds to me like he had a fairly easy call, easpecially with the amount of money in the pot. Whenever you lose a pot like this, you should probably take the time to take a step back and say, "What did I do wrong to lose that pot." Everyone is too quick to judge and criticize other people's play when the reality of it is that they should be examining their own. You didn't get cheated, it sounds to me like the guy with the king really wished he had played the hand. If he was cheating

I had some buddies customize a really nice table they bought by attaching cupholders that folded out from the bottom of the table. Pretty sweet stuff.Alpha
