    Can anyone explain to me how the Leafs got a powerplay out of the Gill goal, where Beauchemin just flat out attacked Cammalleri?
    I was wondering the exact same thing. Sure I'm a habs fan but OMG...as a ref too...for the life of me I couldn't understand that one. Bettman musta called the penalty box up on the hotline.

    Chris, confirm or deny...Spacek is one of the worst f*cking defencemen in the NHL. He's constantly out of position, slow and ends up looking rediculous on just about every goal scored while he's on the ice. I'm not even just saying this from tonight, the game we were at in Buffalo was when I first noticed him. He's fking embarrassing. Wasn't that him doing snow angels in the corner late in the 3rd tonight?

    They don't take TV timeouts after goals. I don't know the exact logic here, though.
    I'd think it would be a perceived advantage to the team that just got scored on to get a timeout (without taking their own) right after giving up a goal no?Also,
    It was pretty clear boarding. Like, basically textbook. He hit him, from behind, long after he got rid of the puck. It could have been called interference or hitting from behind, as well, but boarding is a more severe call, which fit well with the act here.
    The NHL's rule book is purposely vague on what exactly constitutes boarding, to give the referees plenty of room to call it where they see fit. It's defined as: http://www.nhl.com/rules/rule44.html
    A minor or major penalty, at the discretion of the Referee, based upon the degree of violence of the impact with the boards, shall be imposed on any player who checks an opponent in such a manner that causes the opponent to be thrown violently in the boards.
    I've highlighted the key phrase. The ambiguity is not accidental.
