Definitely glad to hear that - the local ref/rumour mill made it sound much worse.

First of all, who gave serge a second account, cuz there's no way this Lenny guy is a separate personSecond, weren't we just talking about star players that light up the Leafs at will?
FYI Crosby now has scored 30 points (12g/18a) in 19 career games against the leafs...ouch.Malkin has 34 pts in 15 games against the LeafsOvy with 18 goals and 14 assists in 19 career games against the Laughs...5pt night...Nah, has nothing to do with coaching at all I guess.

and I'm sure according to serge, neither of these facts has anything to do with coaching or strategy either.Malkin has 34 pts in 15 games against the Leafs -
weird.

the penalty definitely stands -- pretty much the same thing happened to me in a midget game, except for the penalty shot.I didn't see the puck go in the net but one of my linesmen did. Next stoppage of play was a penalty on the team that scored. Goal counts, penalty counts - faceoff at centre. The CBC guys seemed to think there couldn't be a penalty either, but they're now saying that because you can't have two goals on the same stoppage, the penalty shot becomes a two-minute penalty. -
DVM reffing his 1000th nhl game tonight, nice accomplishment.Have played golf with him, always seemed like a humble easy going guy.

fwiw I don't mind the voiding option, since i had bet the under....lol
-
I had a bet on this game too, what happens here, do they just void all, or is it held until they finish the game?wtf...the game has been suspended...I made a nice bet tonight on the Lightning getting amazing value...Up 3-0 and its suspended..FML -

If it comes out that they pulled guns on each other IN the dressing room, I would be willing to bet they're the longest suspended players in NBA history.

gg NBA careers gentlemen, enjoy your stay in jail too.NEW YORK–Washington Wizards teammates Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton drew guns on each other during a Christmas Eve locker room argument over a gambling debt, according to The New York Post.Citing an anonymous source, the newspaper reports in Friday's edition that the standoff was sparked when Crittenton became angry at Arenas for refusing to make good on a gambling debt. That prompted Arenas to draw on Crittenton, who then also grabbed for a gun, league security sources tell the Post.Asked by the Post about the confrontation, Arenas denied pulling a gun on Crittenton."This is unprecedented in the history of sports," Billy Hunter, executive director of the Player's Association, tells the Post. "I've never heard of players pulling guns on each other in a locker room.''The Wizards said on the night of Dec. 24 that Arenas had stored unloaded firearms in a container in his locker at the arena and that the NBA was looking into the situation. On Tuesday, Washington, D.C. police said they were investigating a report that weapons were found inside a locker room at the Verizon Center. Now, the federal government is also involved. Ben Friedman, a spokesman for the US Attorney's Office in DC, tells the Post "we're working with the Metropolitan Police Department on the investigation.'' -
In three years I've never once seen a ref or linesman wear any form of neck protection, nor have I worn any myself.I don't have any plans to do so, unless obviously they mandate it...At this point I think it's really just a freak accident.

ugh...I don't know the guy involved, but I ref with the other linesman almost every weekend...

Anyone think this changes anything? Will we see refs w/ neck guards now in minor hockey? Fwiw, in our clinics this year, we were told to be more involved in trying to stop fights from happening right from the start. In the past, the role of the linesmen basically was to clear the sticks/gloves/helmets/other players away and stand back and watch, then break it up when the guys were tired, down on the ice, or one guy was getting pummelled. The new rules are more dangerous for the on-ice officials imo, because it puts us closer to the players right at the start of the altercation, and we're much more likely to catch an errant punch or as was the case here get clipped as the player was thrown to the ice. If you look at the pics on the article I linked at the top, you can see how close to the fight the guy was. (the pics show the skate coming up, and blood so not for those w/ weak stomach)WOODSTOCK — A linesman is fighting for life in a London hospital after his throat was slashed by a skate blade as he broke up a junior hockey fight.Horrified fans gasped, amid screams for an ambulance, as trainers from both teams attended the bleeding linesman, Kevin Brown, during the third period of a Junior C hockey game between Woodstock and New Hamburg.“I saw the skate go up and (Brown) grabbed his neck right away,” fellow linesman Bruce Byers said. “You knew he was leaking. I told the guys on the ice, ‘It’s done.’”Witnesses say the 25-year-old man’s neck was gushing blood as he skated off the ice, and he collapsed before reaching the bench at the Southwood Arena.First taken to Woodstock General Hospital, the Sebringville-area man was transferred to the London Health Sciences Centre where he was listed in critical condition today. The horrifying incident took place during a third-period fight in Tuesday’s game between the Woodstock Renegades and the New Hamburg Firebirds. The game was suspended with 11:22 remaining.Renegades owner Bill McLeod said today he’d been told Brown is “not doing so well now.”Team trainers say Brown drifted in and out of consciousness as he was loaded into an ambulance. The Renegades’ Craig Thomson had just scored to tie the game 4-4 and, during the celebration, got into a fight with New Hamburg’s Reid Oliver behind the Firebirds net.The two traded punches along the boards as Brown and Byers watched.Thomson threw Oliver to the ice, propelling Oliver’s right leg through the air like a cartwheel and slicing Brown’s throat beneath the chinstrap on the right side of his face.Brown, at first oblivious to the injury, tried to break up the fight as blood spurted from a severed artery. When he realized the severity of what had happened, the Sebringville-area linesman immediately placed his left hand on the gaping wound and skated to the Firebirds bench.“You can’t even describe it,” a rattled Byers said of the incident.Players from both teams were shaken.“Me and Philly (Dan Phillips) were at the bench and we thought he was bringing equipment to the bench,” Renegades’ captain Cole Maher said. “We realized he was skating too fast to do that.“I went to our bench and grabbed a towel and brought it down there.”Ontario’s Labour Ministry was called to investigate and Woodstock police arrived to take pictures as a precaution. -

loooooooolHi Daniel, Glad you came home , I was there at Casino Niagara and was unable to get near for you for even a little glimspe. How did you make out there? I know it was for charity and fun but still hope you won. I see you are coming home again this week. Your going to be in my town watching from behind the bench. Please let me come with you. We are both great leaf fans and poker buffs. It would be great to meet you.I have been playing since I was 14, and now my son's think they know how to play at 28 and 26. One thing is for sure they still can't beat there mom. I hope to be at the game Saturday wearing my Sundin Jersey and my Tiger Cat winter coat. What are your thoughts about Casino Niagara's poker area vs, Rama or Brantford. I don't like Niagara's not enough privacy, too nosiy to think. I love Rams's and Brantford's is okay. Do you play any where around home such as Rama, I would love to play against you some day. I may not be as good as you or Kathy L but I hold my own. Have fun Saturday. Rosey g
