  1. the book is intended for both cash and tournament NL games, with an emphasis on deep stack play. there are many threads about it here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/postlist...rd=books&page=0 if you end up getting the book, be sure and read the sticky thread in my link which lists some typos i just ordered the book from pokerstars yesterday for 2000FPP. if you're a gold star member, you are better off getting an amazon gift certificate with your FPP and buying the book from amazon.
  2. thanks. now maybe screech will not go BUSTO!
  3. Most of the time. If MP is especially tight you can fold. If he raises a lot of stuff preflop and folds too much postflop you can 3-bet.
  4. you should defend. i'm often 3-betting vs. a CO or Button steal.
  5. PokerStars 5/10 Hold'em (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)Preflop: econ_tim is BB with K, A. 3 folds, SB raises, econ_tim 3-bets, SB caps, econ_tim calls.Flop: (8 SB) Q, 6, 6(2 players)SB bets, econ_tim calls.Turn: (5 BB) J(2 players)SB bets, econ_tim calls.River: (7 BB) 4(2 players)SB bets, econ_tim calls.Final Pot: 9 BB Haven't been paying attention to the action because I had to reconfigure my HUD. This is the first good hand I've seen. I would like a turn raise if the preflop didn't get capped.
  6. not ready to make the move yet. just saw a juicy game that i wanted to play.
  7. this is far from standard. normally this is a bad spot to cap 99 preflop. I just fold it most of the time. if you think CO is making a move on UTG, then maybe your hand fares better than it otherwise would. because UTG can go all in, he can get a cheap showdown, which takes away your ability to outplay him postflop. it is going to be hard to outplay CO since you are OOP, and even if you fold him, you might only get a sidepot. so i think it is still a fold preflop.
  8. played a short session of 10/20 today Full Tilt PokerLimit Holdem Ring gameLimit: $10/$206 playersConverterPre-flop: (6 players) econ_tim is BB with A A UTG raises, 3 folds, SB calls, econ_tim 3-bets, UTG calls, SB calls.Flop: 8 8 T (6SB, 3 players)SB checks, econ_tim bets, UTG calls, SB calls.Turn: 2 (4.5BB, 3 players)SB checks, econ_tim bets, UTG raises, SB folds, econ_tim calls.River: K (8.5BB, 2 players)econ_tim bets, . . . I had reads on most of the table, but UTG had newly arrived. Does my line make any sense, or should I just 3-bet the turn?
  9. normally i just complete in this spot preflop with your raise, betting the flop and the ace on the turn makes sense the river you could possibly check/call depending on how much of a donk the button is, but check/folding should be the normal line
  10. Full Tilt PokerLimit Holdem Ring gameLimit: $5/$105 playersConverterPre-flop: (5 players) econ_tim is BB with T 2 UTG folds, CO calls, Button calls, SB calls, econ_tim checks.Flop: A Q Q (4SB, 4 players)SB checks, econ_tim checks, CO checks, Button checks.Turn: 8 (2BB, 4 players)SB checks, econ_tim bets, CO calls, Button calls, SB folds.River: J (5BB, 3 players)econ_tim bets, CO raises, Button calls, econ_tim 3-bets, . . . i cross posted this at 2+2 because it's the most fun i've had in a while 3-bet solid?
  11. Full Tilt PokerLimit Holdem Ring gameLimit: $5/$105 playersConverterPre-flop: (5 players) econ_tim is BB with 8 T 2 folds, Button raises, SB calls, econ_tim calls.Flop: 8 Q 2 (6SB, 3 players)SB checks, econ_tim checks, Button checks.Turn: J (3BB, 3 players)SB bets, econ_tim . . . SB is crazy loose and the reason I'm in the game. His VPIP is above 80, but his AF is still high. He bets any piece of the board and I've seen him try hopeless bluffs too. Button is new to the game.
  12. zomg -- raise somewhere i'd raise the flop, but waiting for the turn is OK as long as you RAISE when you get there
  13. this looks good SB's raise makes a straight or a five unlikely he could have an overpair or a strong draw, either way the pot is big enough to call down
  14. Full Tilt PokerLimit Holdem Ring gameLimit: $5/$106 playersConverterPre-flop: (6 players) econ_tim is BB with X X UTG calls, 2 folds, Button calls, SB folds, econ_tim checks.Flop: 2 9 A (3.5SB, 3 players)econ_tim checks, UTG checks, Button checks.Turn: 2 (1.75BB, 3 players)econ_tim bets, . . . do my cards even matter?
  15. i've played 6,300 hands this month, so about 210 a day but i've been pretty busy with non-poker stuff
  16. fold vs. unknown turbo fold vs. passive player
  17. Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)Preflop: econ_tim is MP with 7, 7. UTG calls, econ_tim raises, CO calls, 2 folds, BB calls, UTG calls.Flop: (8.40 SB) 6, K, 9(4 players)BB checks, UTG checks, econ_tim bets, CO calls, BB calls, UTG calls.Turn: (6.20 BB) K(4 players)BB checks, UTG checks, econ_tim checks, CO checks.River: (6.20 BB) 2(4 players)BB checks, UTG bets, econ_tim raises, is it right to wuss out on the turn?? and if i think UTG can't resist taking a stab at the pot, raising > calling ?
  18. played 30 hands at 5/10 with position on a 96/86/5 player. what range do you 3-bet against this guy assuming you can isolate often? top 50%? at this table, the guy to my left didn't mind calling 3 cold with hands like J8o, so I played a tighter 3-betting range.
  19. yeah. i chalk this up to multitabling and not reading the board.
  20. Party PokerLimit Holdem Ring gameLimit: $5/$105 playersConverterPre-flop: (5 players) econ_tim is UTG with 7 7 econ_tim raises, CO folds, Button calls, 2 folds.Flop: 2 T 3 (5.4SB, 2 players)econ_tim bets, Button calls.Turn: 5 (3.7BB, 2 players)econ_tim bets, Button calls.River: 4 (5.7BB, 2 players)econ_tim bets, Button raises, econ_tim folds.
  21. Full Tilt PokerLimit Holdem Ring gameLimit: $5/$105 playersConverterPre-flop: (5 players) econ_tim is SB with A J 3 folds, econ_tim raises, BB 3-bets, econ_tim calls.Flop: 3 4 7 (4SB, 2 players)econ_tim checks, BB bets, econ_tim calls.Turn: 6 (3BB, 2 players)econ_tim checks, BB bets, econ_tim calls.River: 2 (5BB, 2 players)econ_tim checks, BB bets, econ_tim calls. BB is new to table, but he seems fairly solid.
  22. Full Tilt PokerLimit Holdem Ring gameLimit: $5/$104 playersConverterPre-flop: (4 players) econ_tim is BB with J Q 2 folds, SB raises, econ_tim 3-bets, SB calls.Flop: K 5 K (6SB, 2 players)SB bets, econ_tim calls.Turn: 8 (4BB, 2 players)SB bets, econ_tim raises, SB is autoraising anything here preflop and will donk bet flop and turn very often. he can fold to my raises, though.
  23. no way a better hand gets folded on the river 1/3rd of the time after you check the turn
  24. river bet is not good as a bluff, since the only hands that beat you that might fold are KT-KQ. possible value bet if villain is a showdown monkey like me. although even i don't pay off with Q-high too often.
