  1. If you're going to limp, then you fold to the raise.Probably should fold preflop, but early on, doesn't hurt to see if you can 'catch lightning in a bottle' as Sexton would say. A limp/fold to a raise works ok here, but remember, you are OOP, and JQ can be easily dominated. You aren't playing this hand to hit the Q or the J, but to flop a straight or flush draw. As long as you remember that, you should be ok after the flop here. But if you can't fold TP, then you should just fold this one preflop.

  2. ... and youre M of 10 doesnt give you the implied odds to play for set value.
Really? At what M are you getting the correct implied odds for set value then? And why what specific number? If you could please explain, I'd really appreciate it, because that's one of those things that could really help me understand my own game a little better.
  3. OK, so in the interest of screwing this hand up as bad as I possibly can,I call the flop bet, deciding for that price, I can see the river card. Turn comes A :spade:Now I start to wonder if Villian actually has an A or not. Villian has somewhere around 80k left, and I have about 170k left. I feel he's weak, but do I want to bet a small amount hoping to steal this pot here, or do I want to put him all in, knowing that if he calls and I lose I'm down to 90k and will have an M of about 6.Do I give up here, or make a play at the pot? If I make a play at the pot, do I make him think I'm value betting him to get it all in, or do I just shove now?In case you couldn't tell, I really felt I misplayed this hand horribly from the start.

  4. Payout structure/how many are left is very important.
Trying to get this back after the fact.... looks like about two tables left. So, I'd say there are 17 or 18 players since there's 9 listed in the HH. $7 buy-in.. Typical Stars payout structure, not the 20% structure. Winner gets $2300, if we're at two tables left, 10-18 gets about $90. The 200K stack of mine at the time was top 5ish I believe.OK, so many are advocating a big re-raise here. If MP3 wasn't involved in this pot that was definitely the plan. However, with him in this pot, I decided to see a flop cheap.....Flop: J :D 9 :club: A :D (t55600, 3 players)Hero checks, MP2 bets t16000, MP3 folds, Hero ?????Very odd small bet here, Now what?

MP3 is one of very few that can hurt me here. So, do I just call the BB here, or re-pop it? Reasoning for each please?

  6. Some suggestions from my similar experience last year:1. Don't obsess about this one tournament. It's all I could think about for weeks. By the time it started, I was so worked up, there was no doubt that I would screw up at some point. I ended up making a stupid mistake that I would rarely make, and took a pretty early exit. I took it too seriously, tried too hard, and didn't play my regular game.2. Enjoy the experience. Vegas during the WSOP is awesome.3. While the quality of players at your table may vary from complete donks to professionals, I found my tables to all play tight. Obviously, the better players were TAG. What I didn't see, like you do in internet mtts, are people pushing early with hands like AJ, AQ, and similar. Good Luck out there.
I completely agree. #1 especially. Last year was my first experience at the WSOP (Event #2) and I played so tight I squeaked. Granted, I feel I'm alot better player today then I was then, but I let the fact that it was the WSOP and that I was just amazed to be there let it affect everything. At least you get double chips this year, starting off with 1500 doesn't leave you much room if you get no cards.Definitely alot of TAGs and barely any LAGs. You'll have a story to tell, no matter what, and that is always cool. Have fun! that's the most important part!
  7. Sorry bout the lack of conversion.... Very Early on in a tournament. 8. Imo, this play is AK.It's scary the amt of times the guy has exactly AK. I've never played a 10k buy in, but I have played medium buy ins (100-500) with deep structures and this move is AK just so often.
After discussion with the pro, that's what I really put him on.The pro said they folded AQ, so there's a little less likelyhood of AA or QQ if that is the case. However, AK sounds very plausible here. Either way, it certainly shows the power of the all-in move.I think I'm still happy with my fold, because even vs AK with the AQ dead, I'm still not even 60/40. I'm happy with my end result of the tournament too, which may not have happened had I not folded here.
  9. OK, so the consensus here is to fold...... Interesting....I had a discussion with the pro about this hand after the day ended, and it is their belief that there's no way he's got AA or KK here. If he did, he wouldn't re-raise so much as to push us away. He's going to re-raise to about 10k or that range. That argument makes sense, but how many times have we seen this move (such an over the top reraise) online with AA or KK? Plenty of times (matter of fact I just witnessed KK do this). Because it gets called so many times online. Or is this just a squeeze?FWIW, I did fold the hand after deliberating for about 3 minutes. Considering where I was at that point in the tournament, I figured I had enough wiggle room to play some more the next day, and get all my chips in the middle in a better spot. It's the "what if" that gets me thinking.... Raising the pro was also an option too, but knowing how vunerable JJ is, I didn't want to push it.

  10. Late in day1A of the PCA this hand came up, and I still don't know what I really should have done here. I just got moved to this table about 15 hands before this hand. Blinds were 400/800/100 . UTG+1 limps (who two hands prior limped, and got spanked by somebody that raised him afterward) , UTG+2 (a solid professional) raises to 3500. I'm in MP, and I call the 3500 with JJ. Folds back to UTG+1 (limper), and he reraises all-in (approximately 35-40K), UTG+2 folds, and it comes back to me. limp/reraiser was NOT the typical player at the PCA. about 50ish, looking disoriented, kinda like doc brown in the Back to the Future movies, ya know?? He didn't seem like he really knew what he was doing, but like I said I'd only been there about an orbit and a half.If I call here, it's my tournament life, as I only have about 26K after the call of the original raise. What do you do here?

  11. Heading to bed now, leaving for the airport in like 5 hours. Wanted to say GL to all FCPers heading to Atlantis. PrtyP, saw you on the list, I know there's a bunch of other FCPers too. Hope to run into a few of you down there! Probably wont as I'll have the wife and kids and wont be doing much other poker socializing, but anywho .... Here's to winning it all with the Krablar! :club: Later,J Sullivan(jaysull on stars)

  12. Make it $7,777 to go? You have them covered, so that should strike a little fear into them. I think that raise accomplishes your goal without committing you, and if someone shoves, you can still fold.
I dunno. I'd want to make it more on the raise, because you really don't want a call here IMO. Make it enough to make him realize you're going to be committed, and they fold most hands. I'd personally make it 10k. It still leaves you 21k behind if he shoves, and you want to fold it. I really dont think at this stage, with those stack sizes, that you're going to have people restealing on you with air, so I think a larger than average raise here will make them not want to commit themselves. This is all dependent on the other players, of course. And also how they perceive you. If they'll fold to just about any raise, then a small raise might be in order. I'd personally make it more, and be ok with the fact that if they play back at you, you still have more than the bottom two guys in chips, because it's not about winning, it's just about surviving. My take on it anyway.
  13. I live about 1-1/2 hrs from TS and never play there. I see better play at the home games I frequent, without a rake. Otherwise its a crapshoot.
I'm bout 1.5 too, down by Binghamton. I don't stop up to TS that often, but every time it's a donkfest. The tourneys give you a decent amount of chips to start with, but the blinds go up just about every orbit, so it's hard to do anything.NL Cash game should be piece of cake if you don't tilt (like I did last time)
  14. anybody else playin in this tourny.. prolly gonna have 12K entrants where the top 3 get packages for WPT touny. Only problem i have is that the blinds are 30 minutes long and after about 7 hours of play there will prolly will be over a 1K people still left .. but still playing in it
For perspective the one on Dec 3rd with the same levels took over 10 hours and there were only 1200 people
  15. Well, considering that you mention that both the flop and the opponent had :club:, I'd consider it a rigged game.Either that or you got your cards wrong on your citation from somewhere else.
*gasp*Cardplayer got something wrong. I'd assume one of those :D should be a diamond. Also, I know Tilly's not the best player in the world but how the hell is she getting all in with bottom pair, especially when bottom pair is deuces?
  16. I was a little surprised that you were a slight dog here to the guy with top pair on the flush draw, but all in all, I have no problem with putting all the chips in in this particular spot.
It's having the 3rd party involved that does that in this situation.I found out about how dangreous FD+TP is during the summer and never looked at it the same way again. IMO, WP xTracey, you did about all you could in that situation. It's certainly scary when you're raised and re-raised all in (I'd figure at that point one would have the higher straight), but in online play, you really do never know what the hell people were pushing with.
  17. Just won a Pokerstars Carribean Adventure package, in their VIP freeroll!!!!!!Tournament 34927510Crazy tournament.....Flopped Quads and got paid off.Flopped a bunch of sets and got paid off.Ran my QQ vs AA trying to knock somebody out in #8 and came back from the dead to run my KK vs 99 to finish it off.I am sky high right now!!! I just want to thank old time FCPers that still post, because you guys got me started playing poker for real cash with that whole PSO thing. DNA4ever, that means you!!!

  18. I never really pay much attention to the thousands of rail threads. Half of them seem to be "look, i'm at the final table of a SNG"I guess I just don't post here enough to care. There are a few people I'd watch because I like to see them succeed (dna4ever, for one) . I know I've seen a few of you guys out there, and usually try to just stay outta the way.Maybe I'll post my own rail thread next time I make it fairly deep, and see what happens eh?/ramble
