  1. I had intended on check-raising the turn as to get more into the pot, but there ended up being two raisers. Obviously, in retrospect, a mistake. The threads gone far enough along that I might as well tell you, CO had pocket 9s. Which is why the re-raise on the turn makes no sense at all. Thanks for the advice folks, I'll apply that next time.I Appreciate all the responses!

  3. How does this third party website benefit from the deal?
Not familiar with this one, but it's my understanding that affliates get either a portion of your rake, or a set dollar amount for signing you up.edit: and Instantbankroll is teh awesome! 8)
  4. Slow down only if you hate money.  This is clearly a bad beat post.
No, actually, it's not. I took the pot, but that's not the point. I'm trying to ask if I played all streets well.Maybe I should have been a bit more specific with my questions:A: As the button, I raised my pocket 8s. Got Reraised by a limper, so I called it rather than Cap it? Good or bad?B: Flop gives me middle set, but there's a straight draw out there. Raising only makes sense, right?C: Obviously, after I hit the FH on the turn, the only things I'm worried about are TT or 77, but I shouldn't let that worry me enough to stop raising, correct?

  6. Opinions on the competition there?I've heard everything from real easy to tough?I've played there for a day (about 250 hands of .50/1.00 multi-tabling) and know I can't judge a site from such a small sample, so I wanted to hear other opinions on the site.My first day there went very smooth though.

  7. Seriously, this is god damned hilarious. I'm book-marking and sending it to all my friends. I don't know how you guys don't find this hilarious. Please please post more about ninjas and pirates in your horrible English. If I flame you, will that encourage you?
The peanuts are often the source of the energy of ninja. They are like the spinach for Popeye or Cheez-Whiz for the assistant personnel. Capsulets energy-that they heighten natural in peanuts is heightened by powersole of ninja that lives in each ninja true. Once, although, I took some peanuts from an elephant because it felt to me low in energy of ninja after meat-of-pigging a whole handful of chicks totally hot. The elephant obtained trying censored totally and begun to move of a pull towards outside. He was right like, you aspire and you are not ninja."then he obtained censored and he began to stomping everything on my face. But then I really obtained angered because it broke my purse of peanuts, I removed so my sword (weapon of ninja) and began to cut it for above in the prendederos. I cut it as 14,000 times and later I began to punching the cut upon pieces. I took the trunk and I began to beat the cut upon pieces of elephant, which still tried to strike with the foot (the elephants to me are enough candies, except that they are evil peanuts and of horde). Possible, I killed all the pieces of the elephant, and I made that it ate a whole handful (because it had to me been being sorry totally in him) of soft meat of the elephant, I finished so upon having a totally sweet party ofbarbecue of the elephant with all my sweet friends of ninja.
This story brought a tear to my eye.
  8. I had already noted that the button stays in a hand too long, so if I hit this flush, his entire stack is mine. (implied odds?)
Not that it matters, but I'm really curious to know what the button had. Given the above statement, might he have called the all-in on the turn with two pair, jacks and tens, and filled up on the river?
Button shows A :club: A :D two pairs, aces and tens
  9. thank you for your advice (and going easy on me)The high bet amount by the villian on the flop told me I really should've folded. I was playing really poor yesterday, and this hand was the antithesis of it all. I'll try to concentrate on the fact that I really did play horribly here and not the end result. Because I know the end result does NOT come in my favor most of the time.

  10. Critique please. Please keep in mind, I've only been playing for a month and a half. I'm understanding a bit more of limit holdem after reading GSIH, but still NL I seem to do better with. But when it comes to situations like this, it's where I might as well grow gills. It's PP last night. Got myself a table full of all species of fish (self included). They were mostly playing predictable &/or passive besides 2 calling stations. I don't know when they all agreed on it, but it seemed that the standard raises went like so. Aces, you bet $2, Kings you bet $1. All other good hands, minraise, else limp. I stuck with this table for a while, because I knew I'd get paid off big. I had already doubled up with a Nut Straight vs an Ace set. I've been trying the "short stack"/tight play method, and I like the way it's worked out for the most part. But when I start getting the same stacks as most of the table, then I get looser.Anyway, here's how the hand played out.Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed) convertersaw flop|saw showdownHero ($24.45)MP1 ($19.35) (calling station who let me double up earlier)MP2 ($16)MP3 ($30.47)CO ($26.3)Button ($22.31)SB ($16.75)BB ($28.65)UTG ($29.81)UTG+1 ($5.65)Preflop: Hero is UTG+2 with [Ks], [8s]. SB posts a blind of $0.1. 2 folds, Hero calls $1.75, MP1 calls $1.75, MP3 folds.Now. I know I probably should have folded this preflop. I know this. But here is my thinking here (lol, let's go deep inside the mind of a fish)... My plan was, if the board paired up, to represent a set. As passive as everybody has been, they should fold.Flop: ($6.60) [3s], [9s], [Th] (3 players)Well this flop throws off my "represent a set" idea. So now I have a pretty good flush draw. I had already noted that the button stays in a hand too long, so if I hit this flush, his entire stack is mine. (implied odds?)Hero checks, MP1 checks, Button bets $9, Hero calls $9, MP1 folds. So, he's going to make me pay or chase me off. Turn: ($24.60) [Js] (2 players) Converter is always messed up at this point for me. I went all in for my remaining $13.45, he called with his $11.31 The only way I'm beat at this point is if he holds the A :club: , and one more spikes on the river.River: [Td] (2 players)--------------------------------------------------------I know in limit you're OK to go ahead and play your flush draws as long as you're getting pot odds, but I haven't read enough on NL to really know what I should do. Especially in a situation like this. This is why I'm posting this.Berate me if I need to be. I already know the preflop call was stupid (but it was sooted!). But what about the rest?

  11. instant bankroll is the only reason I am playing for real money. It is 100% legit. The email can take up to 5 days to come, but when it does, you just have to call them up. They ask you a few questions, then you give them your PP username and password, and they deposit $75 to it. Then you can play. I'd recommend changing passwords immediately afterward for security.Play 500 hands and you get the $25 bonus, and after 500 hands you can cash out the $100. Then go crazy doing the rest of the PSO promos. :club:

  12. thank you for the reinforcement. I know I'm dominated with AA or KK, and that's why I wanted opinions here.Turns out the guy was just trying to steal, but almost sucked out on me. Either he saw me fold those hands I raised with earlier that didn't catch and figured he could get me to fold pre-flop, or he just didn't have a clue. Being that it was PP 25NL, I'm going to go with the latter.

  13. Party Poker 25NL. No reads as I was playing a SNG at another site at the same time. Short stacked, I like to play 25NL with $10 or less. I had two big slicks crap out on me already, so I'm down to $6Hero UTG with A :club: K :D , blinds are .10/.25 so I raise to $1.25.Folds to button, who raises all in.Hero?

  14. the thing is...you said you 'put him on the nut flush draw' anyway. So when the heart hit, it's really insignifcant as to which two hearts it was.
this makes no sense to me...please clarify and I will respond
You assumed your opponent had a flush draw.He did.He beat you with it.Whether it was 8/5 or A/10. Does it matter to the end result? No. You bet into a flush draw and he hit it.
  15. well that was the thing...the pre-flop raiser would raise with just about anything I think... and the caller was too new for me to get a good grip on, but he looked like he was trying to bluff pots immediately.I guess it's going back to me thinking I probably should've folded pre-flop.

  16. Alright guys, I'm sure this has been covered at some point but I don't have the time to look back in the archives.I've finally decided to give internet hold'em a try. I'm going to start out with a $50 bankroll so I'm looking for a no-limit $.50/$1 or $1/$2 game. I'm just wondering which sites you think are the best. Thanks guys.
Taking into account what previous posters have said...If you're looking to start off with a $50 bankroll, then go to instantbankroll.com and they'll set you up with a $75 at party poker.
  17. One of my last hands at Absolute before I finished up my bonus whoring there.....25c BB, 9 playersI'm on the button, dealt 8 :D 9 :D . Fold to MP, who raises to $1. LP calls. I call. Blinds fold I've watched MP raise with A3 offsuit earlier, so I figured he could be raising with anything. LP just sat down 2 hands before with $10, has bet and folded and is now down to $6.Flop is 8 :club: 9 :) 10 :D So it's a $3.35 pot right nowMP checks, LP goes all in. So, of course, first thing I think is, he's got the nut straight. But the overbet doesn't make sense. So, I raised myself all in (only had $9) to isolate. Now, after thinking about this later, I really only had 4 outs to the full house, so it wasn't too smart of me to call. But, if he was bluffing (the overbet seemed a bit much), his stack was mine...So... anyway... he flips up pocket rockets, and I did catch my 9 on the river. Turn was a blank. How wrong was that call?
