IMO, Daniel is just a smart businessman by venturing out into other ways to make money. To say that Ivey is only in it "for the money," is like saying that Tiger Woods is only playing golf to put the ball in the hole. I have trouble believing that there are professional poker players out there that hate poker, and ONLY DO IT FOR THE MONEY. I'm sure Ivey loves the game just as much(if not way more) than anyone else can undrestand, and the reason I believe this is because of his stats. You can argue this as long as you want, but THE GOAL OF POKER IS TO WIN MONEY. AT THE END OF THE YEAR, WHOEVE

Jerry Buss (LA Lakers owner) plays a lot of poker and I think he's made some WPT final tables. Not sure if he plays cash games, but I'm sure that his BR can handle the big game.

no offense, but that is the worst advice you could give someone. It's also a myth and very inaccurate to say the least. If I can recall Sklansky correectly, you SHOULD play tighter in a loose game, and looser in a tight game, as far as... you should semi-bluff more in a tight game, and do it rarely in a loose game. The principle behind this is the fact that hands don't have as much of a high value in a tight game, compared to a loose game.

I was wondering how many people on this site play NL online to build a bankroll?I'm not trying to start the "NL is better than limit" debate, so please don't reply if that's what you're going to do.I've been playing NL online for about 9 months. I've cashed about 900 bucks playing everything from 25-100 dollar tables. But I've just lost my working roll playing the $25 tables. Although I only had 6 buy-ins, I lost it all over the course of about 5 hours, and I personally felt that I played correctly throughout most of the day.I understand this could just be the "swings" involved, but what has m

I think if you bet on the flop, they might think of it as a semibluff, I doubt anyone suspects you flopping the straight :?

I was wandering over to the 2+2 website, and I read a post saying that variance is greater in LHE than it is in NLHE.Is this true?I wish someone could explain this to me.I'm pretty well rounded as far as NLHE and LHE goes, but I'm looking to play whichever game has the least amount of swings. The reason I want to do this is to keep a nice balance to my bankroll. If someone could help me out with this that would be great.TY

BTW...My cat is considering moving up to higher limits. She (yes, she is the first female cat poker player) is looking for backers as she is sure she can crush the 200/400.In exchange for you staking her she's willing to make you a tinfoil hat. 8)

Steve Nash?C'mon now...The boy can ball, but... He's not the BESTDN is arguably the best poker player, but I will take my own life (and the lives of the nearest Canadians) the day that the best basketball player is from Canada. I don't care if Steve Nash wins the MVP for the rest of the decade, we all know he's not the best.Just look at cats like D Wade... Him and Shaq are truly disgusting.I've been known to hurl sometimes when I watch Wade play because he's so sick it's contagious. As far as a "Team player" goes... I'll give it to Nash. But that's the only thing I will ever give him.BECAUSE HES

how to minimize the possibility of collusion.

I like southpark, but it relies way too much on profanity and vulgarity to outrank the simpsons and family guy in the comedy department. The simpsons is very witty with sometimes heartwrenching plots and usually a moral. Family guy has a ton of hilarious non sequitors and off the wall antics. South Park has some social commentary but mainly is just swearing.I completely agree with you, but I think that South Park has a pretty solid theme everytime, usually so good you could just sum it up to someone and hear a laugh, while The Family Guy, and Simpsons (especially the Simpsons) rely on 1 liners

I'm sure nobody wants to hear this, but I can't wait to get flammed for sayin it, but I truly believe South Park is just as (if not funnier) than Family Guy. The reason I say this is simply because I think South Park episodes don't seem to wander off like the Simpsons/ Family Guy do. Like the whole Pinnochio thing... don't get me wrong it was hilarious, but random scenes like that in the Simpsons and the Family guy just make me less intrested in watching it.

my thoughts on tuan le/hasan habib incident
Landon_McFly replied to DanielNegreanu's topic in General Poker Forum
forgive me if im wrong cause i don't know him personally or anything, but... Isn't Hassan somewhat of a "Baller"?I'm sure he has enough money as it is, and he wouldn't risk looking like the pete rose of poker, just for a few more bucks. In my opinion that'd be like Steve Nash being involved in a point shaving scandal.(Notice I didn't say Michael Jordan, because I'd save that analogy for someone like say... Phil Ivey... or myself.) -
the 'next generation of poker players'?
Landon_McFly replied to Eph2008's topic in General Poker Forum
john d'agnastino i dont think phil ivey is next generation, if youre in the big game, youre already thereMy point exactly... PHIL'S ALREADY THERE! To me that's like asking...Who's the best newcomer to the NBA?Everyone shouts Lebron, but he doesn't count. Why? Dunno he just doesn't.You can't blame Phil because he's so far ahead of his time/ that he could go back/ and introduce his grandma to his granpa at their high school prom -
the 'next generation of poker players'?
Landon_McFly replied to Eph2008's topic in General Poker Forum
I hate it when i hear "the next generation". And I don't know why someone would be nieve enough to add dutch boyd's name to that list of characters. The only 3 players that I think are worth contention of that title are...Thomas KellerScott Fischman...and of course Phil IveySeems like Phil doesn't get half the credit he deserves if you ask me. He sits at the largest cash game in the world, with the best players in the world, and makes a living doing so... And did I mention he's like 20 years younger than anyone else?Maybe there's a couple more young guns out there that are worth mentioning, b -

I don't care if it was my mom who won a pot off me with the Krablar, but if she as much as pinched me... It would be the last time she touched her own flesh and blood  -

I'd email her and I bet she'd give you an apology. Then I'd probably charge her for poker lessons She'd get a hysterectomy for disrespectin me! -
since everyone else is making there picks...Erick LindgrenHasan HabibThe GrinderLayne FlackMarcel LuskeI'd seriously bank on one of them winning it all, of course it could be an unknown just as easy... but one thing I'll bet anyone is that Josh Arieh is nowhere near the final table of this one.Although he's a great player, I just don't see him getting through this field. Not that he hasn't made it through a big field before

Best fold of my life...I'd probably have to go with the peanut butter and jelly sandwich I did last Saturday.

If you have a $300 bankroll, and decide to play limit, what limit should you play? Should you play 5 handed or 10?

greatest poker accomplishment ever?
Landon_McFly replied to FrostyMcNugget's topic in General Poker Forum
In my opinion just cause doyle is a great card player (who happens to be a senior citizen) means nothing to me.Mr. Smasharoo is right as far as how you'd rank the best poker player. ITS THE ONE WITH THE MOST MONEY MADE PLAYING POKER. From my point of view, winning wsop braclets and tournaments is the equivilent to who hits the most homeruns in baseball, or who's the slam dunk champion this year. From what I've heard Mr. Ivey makes more than a lil bit of change in cash games, and I'd bet the pot that he'll still be in the same professsion when he's say... 50... 60 years old. It seems that there
