My thoughts exactly...

I generally play online NLHE, and sometimes just to switch things up I play limit.I've read TOP, SSHE, Tournament poker for advanced players. I've read them, and re-read them. I personally think that Sklansky is a genius.I've heard a couple good things about Supersystem, but I never planned on reading it.Browsing through Barnes & Noble today I picked up SS2, and started reading the NL section. Halfway through it I was really liking what I was reading and realized this book could help me increase profits. But the question I really had was... Is one of the books better than the other? Is t

Ever since I've started playing online, I've used pokerroom.com. A friend of mine who plays on party says that party's games are much softer. I average about $7 per hour ($3.50 per table) two tabling pokerroom's $25NLHE.How much more could I possibly make at party? Is it really that much softer?

I started with $250 playing the $25 NL 10 handed cash games. Played between 5-7 hours a day, 10 days later I'm up to $600. Now, I think a large part of my success is the fact that I'm great at adjusting to the table. For instance, while playing tables that are giving a lot of action I'll just sit back and wait on great hands preflop, and get paid off. In contrast, while playing tight tables, I'll try to slowplay big hands, and I'll raise with marginal hands preflop (10-9s-23s) WHEN I'M IN POSITION.I finally started the $50 tables, and they are the TIGHTEST TABLES EVER!It seems that no one i

I asked this earlier, but didn't really get the input I was looking for.How many buy-ins do I really need for NL online cash games? I was guessing between 10-15, I'm probably gonna have 12 before I move up in limits.I was just trying to conversate with someone who's progressed throughout the limits and built up a nice roll without going brokeTY,Lando

I personally think all they need to do is raise the friggin buy-ins. Simple, there, done, now just gimme a check.raise it to at least 20-25kLook at this way... Back when the WSOP, 10,000 seemed like much more money to people than what 10,000 is today.

I'd put my paper on Ferguson, or maybe Arieh.

I started the $25 buyin tables with 10x the buy-in. My working bankroll has now grown to $530. I planned on waiting until I had $600 before I moved up to the $50 buy-in tables because I'd have a nice 12 buy-ins to fall back on, but I know how everyone on this site stresses the fact that you need to have the proper BR before you move up in limits. So I would really like someone who has moved through the limits to give me some input, tell me what to expect at the next level, and tell me what my roll should look like.I've read by a couple posters that you need to have 20-25 buy-ins. That seems ki

I was just wondering who all at this forum plays NL online, and I had some questions for ya.1. What limits did you start at?2. What limits do you play at now?3. What's your working bankroll like now?4. Are you aware that Michael Jackson is the king of pop?(you dont have to answer this one... as I'm sure you already know the answer  )

Good point... So many times on TV someone goes "ALL-IN" for 500,000, and everyone's so impressed, until they remember it's just chips, not really 500k of their own cash.If I had the chance to regularly view average joe's bringing their roll to LV in a televised cash game, I would shart in my pants.Seeing someone spend half a mil of real money is very, very different than an 5k buyin tourney. I think the word I'm looking for is OBSCENE.Or maybe it's BLANTLY VULGAR.Either way, I'd love to watch televised half mil minimum buyin cash games.(I KNOW ITS NOT REALLY GONNA HAPPEN SO PUMP YOUR BRAKES B

what's wrong with playing on pokerroom?
Landon_McFly replied to Landon_McFly's topic in General Poker Forum
Are you reffering to Limit or NL? -
I assume he can make that 500k up with the quickness by moving down in limits for a bit.He has the skills to kill about any game, money shouldn't even matter to him (and I doubt it really does). I don't belieev he looks at money and thinks "wow that's 5 million dollars." I bet it's more along the lines of..."wow... thats 625 big bets!"...Just my thoughts

what's wrong with playing on pokerroom?
Landon_McFly replied to Landon_McFly's topic in General Poker Forum
Huh... PR is the only place I've ever played. I've noticed that's the percentage for most of the 10 handed tables, but I guess I always figured that's what'd it'd be everywhere. -
Pokerroom.com is the only online site I have ever used, and I personally don't have any problems with it. There are fish galore, especially at the lower limits.I visited pocketfives.com, which lists the top online players, and it also lists what sites they play on.I noticed that NOT ONE of the top 70 players listed pokerroom as one of their sites. Most of them were Party, Stars, Paradise, and UBWhat's the deal?

What site(s) does he play? -
I just got back from the gas station where I picked up an issue of Maxim magazine, and it had a pretty cool article in it about DN, Arieh, and E-Dog. It also had another small article about some kid from Sweden who just turned 21, but in the last 3 years he's made over 5 Mil playing online. Not to be a hater, but I hope they're talking about play money. This kid sounds sicker than AIDSSomeone please explain this to me before I go rob a friggin bank...

After two of my friends split a pot the older guy looks at the college guy and says "You know, they say splittin the pot is like kissin your sister." The college guy decides to be a smartass and replies with "You're tellin me you kiss your sister?"The old timer takes the cake when he says "NO, it's like kissing YOUR sister... I'm an only child."

What Limit's are you talking about? The highest I've played limit is 3-6 10 handed, and I assure you that you aren't going to be running people over playing loose in that game.
-
I agree with you completely. I think that's probably the only time it's correct to play loose in a limit game due to the fact that SSHE was written for low limit games, but what about when you are playing a Small Stakes game and let's just say that everyone had read SSHE? Would it then be correct to loosen up due to the fact that you know how tight everyone else is playing?Hmm...
-
I totally understand what you're saying, but if I were to play that over and over, I would push everytime, and in the Long Run I'd be well paid. Oh well, I lost a buy-in. If I have a decent bankroll it shouldn't bother me at all.I'll pay off a set of 6's all day if I flop top 2 pair
-
I've read TOP, and Sklansky talks about how you should tighten up on semi-bluffs and bluffs in loose games, and how you should do the opposite in tight games. The book doesn't really clarify if you should use that strategy in NL or L, which confuses me because in SSHE it really emphasizes the fact that you should play tighter than Matusow's butt cheeks in prison.I just don't see how it could be profitable to play loose in a limit game. Can someone clarify?

I was thinking about this earlier today...I know how variance can occur in limit holdem to such an extent it can censored you off. People sucking out on the river during your entire session. There isn't anything you can do to detter it besides to just accept it as a part of the game and know that things will go your way.Well, look at the reason why a lot of people suck out on you. Although they're making -ev calls, it's just one or two more bets to them. Not to mention all those days you might flop top two pair, only to get called to the river by someone's 10 high flush. It seems that the c
