I'm starting to think this journal entry is never coming. But then again who needs it when we have all this wild speculation. And we are always so close to the truth aren't we?(sw)

That is a good suggestion (if I ever dare sit down at a table with the again). But really, I do appreciate the suggestions. What book do you think you benefited the most from reading?

I'm not trying to flame you or start anything on this thread, but if you learned to "really" play from watching t.v. - I would suggest you find a few good books to see how terribly wrong what you are watching on t.v is. While those individual hands may work out for the pros, there are hundreds of hands you don't see per episode that lead up to the plays they make in the hands you do get to see.Sklansky - Small Stakes Hold 'Em & Theory of PokerHarrington - Harrington on Hold 'Em - I assume you only play Hold 'Em as you only reference "poker" &" t.v." and no specific game.I think you sh

The probability that he gives out information to his opponents....?? lol.I know  . At the very least I now have a great deal more respect for the people I normally play with. I can't wait to sit down at my regular game this weekend.

My favorite quote of the night was when my brother who thinks he is a poker god, because he plays 5 card stud for nickels with his drunk friends, said, " It doesn't matter if I show my cards after every hand, because the probabilities change everytime you shuffle." Huh? I'm still trying to wrap my brain around that one.

tell them to watch it on t.vI learned the basics from a friend and then learned how to really play by watching the pros on TV. Maybe I'll make a "poker tape" will be mandatory viewing before I'll teach anyone.Does anyone have any book suggestions that are good for beginners?

Sorry to disapoint ... but it is just a nickname my friends from California gave me.

I made the mistake of letting my sister talk me into teaching our family members how to play poker. I used to be preschool teacher, so I would have the patience to do it, but after having to explain what the "little blind" was to my Mom for the 100th time, I never wanted to look at a deck of cards again. I have quite a few friends who have also asked me to teach them how to play, but I am now seriously having second thoughts about putting together a game to show them how. Does anybody have suggestions on the easiest way to go about teaching other people?

The best beer would have to be Pyramid Snow Cap. It's seasonal though. I'll have to wait another 7 months until it is available again.

Good story. Very encouraging.I've never played in a casino either. I play live games but mostly just home games and the occassional trip to the local bar tournament. For my birthday my friends are taking me to Vegas, so I'll be having my first casino poker experience. I'm really looking forward to it. -

the krablar: an introduction tothe besthand in poker
missIdaho replied to BigDMcGee's topic in General Poker Forum
I've keep seeing these Krablar threads and ignoring them because I didn't know what a Krablar was. Now that I have finally read one and found out it is K3, I have to tell you how shocked I am am that the Krablar happens to be my favorite hand. I always play it. I win with it so much, my friends get nervous everytime they see a K or 3 on the flop. I've never done the Krablar dance although I have been known to do the occasional victory lap around the table during home games. It's official now ... I definitely belong here. -
No..... is that enough of an answer for you?

No matter how painful it was, I would be proud if I were you. Just getting there was an accomplishment. You proabably held your own at that table than most of us amateurs would have.Better luck next time :-)

Yeah... He's got all my chips. He's the one who called with the A9.Then I was told he went on to tear up most of the rest of the table after I left also.If he makes it to the final table and wins, you'll know that your chips helped get him there. Won't that be nice.
