  1. Yeah he was suspended for yesterday's "kicking" incident. Nabby sprawled on the ice making a save late in the third and Lecavalier was in the crease looking for a rebound and Malkin in front of the ref skates up and kicks his right leg up and knees Vinny in the stomach and wraps him up UFC style with his arm around his head and everything. Suspended against Finland. Someone at the Hockey Forums posted it up if it still works: http://rapidshare.de/files/13905158/malkin...valier.avi.html
  2. He was scored on vs the US in the final preliminary when he played one period. Has stopped 88 of 90 shots. But yea I know, he better pack up some of those shutouts and bring them home with him! Nabby runs hot and cold for the Sharks and it's so frustrating. Watching him leave the net vs Canada I was sure they were going to catch him out of position after he gives it away trying to clear like he's been doing all season for the Sharks. He's probably more well rested because of that because Ron Wilson benched him for the three games leading up to the break because he wouldn't listen to the coache
  3. Man those $100 million boys looked horrible. Shutout in 3 of the last 4 games, scoreless in 11 of the last 12 periods, if Vokoun wasn't in the first period vs the Czechs it might've been 4 shutouts. Do Bertuzzi and Pronger realize that even in Europe in close games or with the man advantage it's not smart to take penalties? North America got owned badly this Olympics.
  4. A little uncalled for...I'm AmericanGeorge Bush doesn't care about Americans.
  5. After that hockey marathon and about to start another I'll throw in a few of my opinions.Slovakia:During the broadcast I think an announcer said they're one half of one percent the size of Canada but look at their roster. It's not even their top roster with Handzus injured and Palffy retiring. They have a lot of young guys who haven't even peaked yet and just need some solid goaltending. I mean yes the Russians are oozing skill but Slovakia has about as many NHL players on their roster as anyone and we know anything can happen in this game.USA:Dominated the game and didn't look too jet lagged
  6. I will bet you whatever amount you'd like that Soccer will be every bit as irrelevant then as it is now. Its a game that will never be part of the American Sports Fan's psyche. If I had a dollar for every time someone said Soccer is the next big thing, then I would be a very wealthy man. Its a terrible spectator sport and that is yet another reason why it will never catch on in the USA.I'd have to agree that it'll take more than 4-5 years. When I was in Europe I met soccer fans from Mexico to Japan who were starving themselves so they could afford to see the big soccer teams play in Barcelona,
  7. Yea they've lost tens of millions the past few seasons but the cap and 24% roll back should help them. Well they are expected to have an operating losses of $91 million so I had some of the right words in there.
  8. It's great for the Czech team too because they'll have four players, five if Prucha didn't get hurt, who have been doing great on the same team all season. At this rate by the next olympics it'll be the Czech Rangers.
  9. http://www.nbcolympics.com/results/1549007/detail.htmlMen's hockey isn't scheduled until the 15th. All the times are Torino which is 6 ahead of EST.
  10. Okay it looks like that's the operating cost, as to their projects losses I have no clue."The Blues reportedly have the highest operating negative value at $91 million."http://www.usatoday.com/sports/hockey/colu...res-blues_x.htm
  11. Just to get back on topic for a second. I found it funny that they reported over 1,000 transactions for $1.7 million over 40 days then find out Janet Jones placed $500,000 of it! $5k on the coin toss, $75k total I think on the Super Bowl. She took up almost a third of the action while the rest of the best average about $1k each? Have to raise a glass to her!
  12. Yea the young guys from the minors come up and play their hearts out to avoid having to ride those buses. Stempniak has been doing very well. I heard the Blues organization was on a pace to lose $90 million this year or something like that.
  13. What's interesting is in the penthouse suites I can order beer for cheaper than buying it downstairs. I can get a 6 pack domestic for $21 or imports for $24 and get it delivered straight to the suite. Plus they're in glass bottles.
  14. But what about the concessions? Nothing like watching your team lose while paying $7 for a domestic beer that helps pay for an overpriced goalie's new contract like at the Shark Tank.
  15. I heard $1.7 million during a 40 day period. Not exactly chump change either way but how convenient that the 40 day span covers the biggest gambling events from college bowl games to the super bowl. I think the authorities are just making it look bigger but either way he funded the book and money laundering is pretty much going to be a given. All this mob ties talk makes me rethink a quote awhile back where he said he'd do anything to win including slash a guy in the neck... :shock:how are authorities making it look bigger? 1.7 million is 1.7 million, no matter when it is.They picked the peak

  17. I think it's overblown as far as its impact on hockey. Just going to be overhyped to make it a more exciting story. Statements are saying the hockey players who wagered bet on pro and college football and basketball. Nothing really surprising there I mean Connolly even talked about winning the team March Madness pool on his ESPN chat. Jagr owed money from betting on football. Roenick was investigated for betting football. Former NHL officiating director Van Hellemand had betting problems hitting up refs for loans because he bet on the ponies. Theodore's family is mobbed up. As long as it's not
  18. Horowitz, sold Go2Net to InfoSpace four years ago in a $2.7 billion stock deal....i dont know how much paul phillips got from this deal...he was the chief technical officer...but who knows how many shares he had..The executives within a company typically own a relatively small percentage but large compared to most other holders. Bill Gates owns maybe 10% of Microsoft shares now. That amounts to a fair amount of money since the deal was in the billions but if I had to guess I'd say his share was< 5% and he'd probably be in the tens of millions. Then the tax man gets his chunk. He'd probably
  19. Yea I love the Boston Sharks! But yea I have family in the New England region and a cousin out here in the Bay loves Boston teams so I rooted for them even before the they had Hackett, Jillson, Shields, Boyes, Sturm Primeau, Stuart, Langfeld...
  20. I first thought Leclerc for Reinprecht? But then I remember witnessing Sutter with the Sharks all those years it made sense to me. Leclerc is a grinder that Darryl seems to fall in love with. Not a great skater, checks, good penalty killer. Hence their poor goal differential with one of the worst offenses and best defenses. He did a lot for the Sharks but man he can really stifle the growth of younger players and limits offensive creativity.
  21. Wait until you see his next entry! My sources tell me he's going to compare himself to Jason Bourne in fighting skill and athletic ability. It will also be posted in multiple languages.P.S. I can't reveal my sources because DN will kill them -- and they don't exist.
  22. With the way the draft lottery is set up Pittsburgh should only have 1 ball instead of 3 since they got TWO #1's in the past 4 years, Blues should lose at least one ball for making the playoffs in previous 3 years. I think under the new CBA all 30 teams will have a shot at #1 to prevent the tanking on purpose to be one of the worst 5 teams for a good shot at #1 like under the old system. Pens showed promise during the end of the 03-04 season when all their young guys were stepping up and then once the cap is in place they open up the checkbook and bring in the big name vets and shook it all
  23. Vernon pummeled Roy and gave him a nasty cut. Too bad Hasek slipped otherwise that would've been good too if Hasek crippling that guy in the Czech Republic was any indicator.
  24. I'd pick Ovechkin then probably Lundqvist. People argue for Crosby using words like potential and wait until he's <insert age> but the Calder is for the best rookie this season. Crosby is a great player but it's hard to make a case for him over Ovechkin. Ovechkin is keeping the Caps from being much much worse, laying monster hits, has made some pretty good assists for a "non playmaker", and is loved by his teammates. He has had to adjust to smaller ice with different rules, and play in a faster paced league against the best players in the world as opposed to the clutching and grabbing in
  25. I'll never forget Bob Boughner on Cheechoo in the playoffs when the Avs were getting creamed. Luckily he was too weak to knock out Cheech.
