  16. To be honest, 3 sets of 10 is good for toning - maybe - but to me it's the least efficient way to get it done. Strength training should be your first priority. First, do you have access to free weights? machines are ok. actually, no I don't like them. A machine takes you through the motion so you use absolutely no stabilizing muscles to get the job done. You need to incorporate every muscle necessary when pushing/pulling weight. If you have access to free weights, I'd suggest a 3X5 routine that's really simple. Mainly it consists of the big 3 - Bench, Squat, and Deadlift. These are the
