  1. I think what the OP was getting at is that "pro" is thrown around too frequently and he is stating that he consistently beats a game of known players. If you are actually asking if you should try and 'turn pro' ask for a leave of absence from your job and do what you can do, if you keep winning dont go back. I think you were trying to point out that "pro" does not neccessarily denote skill level.
  2. eek... I don't want to get into politics but he sure had some backers in the 2000 election. Heard some weird stuff about Ohio this election and theres been a large amount of sadiness with him. wanna know more bout why i feel this way, look here... http://www.hereinreality.com/carlyle.html
  3. or maybe he is rich as hell because it talks about more than colluding
  4. You should always make that call. If you cannot make that call your bankroll is not big enough and you need to go down in limits, You are always a favorite if you've got two pair going against a flush draw and you should be willing to take this risk. If he goes all in on the flop and shows you a flush draw you should call unless you think you are going to outplay him later and put him in a much worse situation.
  5. Well in NL you can pretty much start playing all your suited connectors if you have a relatively deep stack compared to blinds as well as all PP. Your betting might be off in NL too, you can protect your hand with more ease by putting in potsize or near potsize bets. Along with that you can scoop more pots by focusing on your friends' betting patterns and picking up pots when they are weak. You get better at NL by playing more NL, maybe you should buy in to some of the cheap cash tables online just to get more experience. You have to focus a lot more in NL I find myself enjoying playing li
  6. I for one think that there should be a required 1 anchorman quote per day per poster... this burrito is good but it is filling
  7. I think everything looked good except maybe the turn call instead of raising, i understand you want the other calls but if the game is that soft you might get them anyways, but if ever there is a situation to go for the extra calls this is it, its just a little cute for my taste.
  8. the description of your situation is quite vague to say the least, but i think this is a rather easy call, you likely have at worst 15 outs for your straight and flush, or better yet some more with your A and 7. This is just the situation that you were looking for, you are short stacked flopped a huge draw with 2 overcards, you have got to call, and if he hadnt gone all in before you, you should reraise the inital raiser all in
  9. There is just too little information here to make an educated guess, this is all feel in tourneys, would that sb call a raise with ak and take the flop or do you think hed reraise? I mean the only hand that I think you can conceivably lose to is AK given that he is tight, but given that he is so tight I would think that he'd check to the better and reraise you all-in, this leads me to believe he either has kq or kj and was sick of you raising his blinds or he has nothing and thought if he bet out at you that you would fold. When you had to see a flop heads up this is just about the best flop
  10. Limped twice out of all these hands, not sure if that is wrong or not, but didn't seem to be a lot. I guess in NL you have to change gears a bit more than limit, and top pair with top or second kicker can easily go down in flames to a set, or weaker A or K that hits 2 pair. Limit you can only loose so much, but in a tourney it is your entire chip stack on the line and once you are out, you are out.In Limit I would never linp with AK, but that's because everybody gets in the pot and you want to chase them out. I would be interested if any of the other NL players ever limp with AK and if they do
  11. this is a weird little question that i dont think there is an answer for or dont know the answer for, but here i am typing a response anyways, i consider a-7 and below a-rag
  12. I guess you are going to go broke, but I sure don't like calling preflop raises with AJ, I think it was a minimum raise which screams strength but I might still call for such a small raise and hope to pound the flop. It was played pretty badly but you would have lost all of your chips regardless, look at aseems post for how to play this hand. Get aggressive earlier you will probably get played back at and I highly doubt being able to fold in this situation without a great read, but the action should have taken place earlier.
  13. FOLD! If this is a cash game fold unless the player going all in is extremely loose the best situation you are gonna find yourself in is a coinflip and I dont much like puting in a lot of money on those. I can see in a tournament calling in these spots but I still wouldnt unless only the top few spots paid off in which case you need to be taking risks to get lots of chips or if the blinds increase quite quickly, also pushing all in in tourneys with these hands is better than calling all in with them because then you have people folding to you. I hardly ever like calling all-ins with AQ or A
  14. betting less than half the pot on the turn is perfect? This is a can't fold situation, maybe if she hadnt put in the river bet and he went all in she could fold, but again he could be playing anything according to her and she set herself up for the river bet by the weak turn bet, no way she can fold
  15. i just think her reasoning is bad for the bets but i like how it played out. she shouldnt have bet so little on the turn unless she thought she was trapping him if the club fell, otherwise you should push on the turn marion. But you should be ecstatic hes pushing you all in on the river here, from what youve said about him I hafta think you are ahead, but then again the fact that you posted it here all bummed out means you musta lost the pot, but still you will win against a random fish hand with that board more often than not
  16. raise with em. I would most certaintly be raising with 77 probably 66 as well that is where i would draw the line though. They are too strong shorthanded and help disguise your play a little bit.
  17. the more i read her post the more i think that she shouldnt be scared and should have trapped him unless he played like kx suited... but he might have a real baby flush, she said he was raising like mad with garbage which leads me ot believe he would raise with Ax suited. So he either has a really strong starting hand and then shows nooooooo aggression throughout or got extremely lucky playing Kx suited. Either way I dont think her play is bad, but I think she should be happy she gets raised on the river, he could be playin 8/10 or he coulda been superrrrr slowplaying AA KK QQ JJ and think h
  18. With the blinds like they are, there is absolutely no reason not to push on the turn and try to take it right there.not if this guy is calling with anything, why not put in a horribly small bet thinking that he has 0 or close to 0 outs, she has top two, and a flush draw, she puts in a small bet making it look like shes scared of the club. That is why I wouldn't think the turn bet is horrible if she thinks her club flush would be good, but if not then she should push, by putting in such a small bet shes leaving it open to get raised, protecting your hand against someone that might be drawing t
  19. Am I seeing something wrong? Did she state that she lost the hand or is that just inferred? I think the turn bet is pretty bad if you put him on a flush draw, if you didn't then I think you are thinking you have 2-pair with a flush draw and that he is crippled and there isn't much that can help him. Now I think I read your post correctly, you hit the flush on the river which may have counterfeited your hand, I would have checked and hope he bluffed at it thinking you were scared of the flush, then called all in or gone all in myself. Or I would have gone all in on the river and not checked
  20. screw this chicago talk and defending this hand, talk to us bout vegas and all the junk that happened there!
  21. Dave is one of the best young poker players out there. It's no secret anymore.I know hes a great young player, but he was down to like 16k i think and now hes one of the leaders, not like hes playing against chumps here.
  22. that is unfortunate that he hit runner runner and i feel bad wish you could have still been going strong! butttttttttt pushing the turn still doesnt make it right imo for the aforementioned reasons... but you gonna post how it was chillin with tj and daniel? i wanna see some stuff about that maybe youve already started and this post will be pointless..
