Bad Beat Jackpot And High Hand Rules Interpretation
pokerglory replied to pokerglory's topic in General Poker Forum
Thx - corrected the poll.OK - maybe better way to rephrase it - when you look at the rules, would you take it that the intent is that one card is required to construct the 4-of-a-kind? I know it's not specifically stated (and hence, that's where the ambiguity lies). There is debate over whether a similar AQ hand on a quad board should be paid off. -
Bad Beat Jackpot And High Hand Rules Interpretation
pokerglory posted a topic in General Poker Forum
At a local card room, certain percentage of each pot is raked for a Bad Beat Jackpot. This pot also pays high hands. The high hands payout is as follows:High Hands 2 Cards 1 Card Royal Flush 15.0% 5.0% Straight Flush 10.0% 4.0% Four of a Kind 5.0% 3.0% From a poker player's perspective, this is quite straightforward where the "2 cards or 1 cards" refer to the number of a hole cards a player uses to derive a high hand. However, should the four of a kind be interpreted as:a) 2 or 1 hole card creates the four of a kind. In general, if an opponent calls a preflop raise (and not re-raise), I tend to put him on something playable/decent. Your raise was 3xBB, so he was getting 2.25-1 to call the preflop raise...I'm guessing he has a decent hand and not some 10-3 junk.Since you have no reads, what type of hands would he have called a preflop raise with, being out of position for the rest of the hand and getting only 2.25-1? AK, AQ, AJs? Pair of 10s and up?Next look at the flop texture. K is a scare card and there are two hearts on board.Last - what would he check-raise with? If I were in that position, the only po

Just got back from Vegas. I suck at poker. In 1/2 NL, I lost every race situation. AK to 88, 10-10 to J-J, 10-10 to 9-9, AK to AQ. The one time I had KK, I played it HU with another guy - he also had KK. Other than those hands, I had cold cards the entire trip. Any plays I made at pots were picked off. Any time I wanted to play a marginal hand, there would be call, raise, re-raise before me.In limit, I played one session without dragging a pot once.If it weren't for blackjack and craps, I would be down money on this trip. (Doesn't make sense, does it? Doesn't J.C. Tran talk about staying away f

yeah...didn't wasn't there something in physics class about 45 degree angle being the optimal projectile launch? Guess they didn't factor beaks and ice into the equation.315.2. Still working on it.

I have to agree. Watching Antonio in HSP Season 2 showed an entire different side. a) Not only are his tournament results great, but he is a fantastic cash game player with good reads. B) He acts with class at the tables.Rocks and Rings aside, he is a true poker player.

Watch Season 1 of HSP where Phil has KQ. Flop comes K-Q-x. Phil leads out, Barry Greenstein raises all-in with his set of Queens and Phil quickly calls. That always makes me feel good.

Remember, Vegas is in the middle of a desert - so don't expect too many hills. However, that being said, TPC Canyons is quite neat (target golf and you do tee off elevated tees). Pretty mind boggling when you have to hit your drive across a canyon to find a fairway. TPC courses are quite pricey though.I like Paiute. 3 courses there and you see the huge mountains in the background. Twilight rates are very reasonable, so I'd recommend you check them out. I have played all 3 courses and they are all great. Wolf course is the higher priced one, but I don't think it's all that different from the oth

Few general questions:1) I play primarily on Stars but recently joined FT. On Stars, let's say a hand played is HU. Flop is checked. On the turn player A checks, player B (in late position) bets and is called. On the river, both players check. -> On Stars, player A's cards are shown first because he/she is first to act. If Player B's hand is better, his/her cards are is shown (otherwise player B has the option to muck or show).-> On FT, players B's cards will be shown first (because he/she was the last person to bet). Then if player A's hand is better, it will be shown. Why the discrep

Last year, down to my last $1.50 on Stars. Finished reading HOH and was waiting for a deposit bonus period. Decided to throw $1.10 into a 45-player sng.Won that, won my next $5.50 single table sng and turned that $1.50 into $1300+.HOH has helped, as well as bankroll management tips given on this forum. Cards at the right time also help! :DThe swings at $2/$4 and $3/$6 are a lot different than the 0.05/0.10, let me tell you!

Ax Suited In Passive Nl Game
pokerglory replied to pokerglory's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
Leading out off the flop - ok, maybe it is for 2 reasons - semi-bluff steal to take the pot and seeing where I am (in relation to others). If someone smooth calls, I'm worried about a boat. If I'm re-raised, maybe something like AK. What you said is quite correct. I did call the turn and checked the river. Given the pot size of $40 and stack of $37, leading out $10 almost commits you to the pot regardless of what he does, doesn't it? Is checking not a cheaper way to showdown (i.e. if he has a straight or trips, he may check with you; if he has a monster, a $20 bet you'd call anyway (since yo -
I wish I had just kept the hand history (in regards to position and chip stacks). So much easier to post.I had the positions mixed up. His QQ hand, he was in the BB and lost to A9o on the river. Hence, the next hand was the AKs I had and he was in the SB (not button), hence I had position on him for subsequent betting rounds.Either way, it appears the decision comes to whether or not you want to flip this early in a tournament. Given the revised position (he is in BB), you are still early position and it's HU, and that you've guessed he's in the 99-JJ range, is calling an option at all, or d

I agree. However...Is calling is a bad play here? You will have position on all subsequent betting rounds. If you push and lose, you're down to 580. If you call and completely miss the flop, you still have 1080 left to decide if you want to proceed. (Chances are he'll push post flop, giving you something like 1.5-1 to make the call).Him betting almost half his stack preflop would indicate that he's willing to go through all the way.

Sat down at .50/1 NL on Stars. Note - usually I play 2/4 fixed and NL tournaments - very rarely venture into NL cash games.Sit down with $60. Post blind in late to enter the game, so stack is at $59 when the following action occurs.------Dealt A:heart: 6:heart: in 2nd position. From observing players, game is passive with a lot of limpers.I don't usually like to play Ax suited in early position, but because of the passive nature, decide to limp into this pot expecting more limpers.Player 4 limps, as do CO and button. SB calls, BB checks. Pot is $6.Flop comes K K 10 Good and bad flop. You

$24 tourney on Full Tilt. Qualifier to $200 WPT winner's choice. Top 5 get in, $60 cash for 6th. (I mention the qualifier because this can effect how people play.)15/30 blinds. You have just watched player X play 2 pots early on. One hand increased his stack from 1500 to 2000 (no cards were shown). Previous hand he has lost QQ on the button to A9o on the river, decreasing his stack from 2000 to 1000.Blinds posted. Player 1 folds. You are in second position and dealt AdKd. You have not played any pots yet, hence your chip stack is at 1500.Because of poor position, you raise to 120, 4xBB. Action

Calling With Low Pairs Late In A Tournament On Small Stack
pokerglory replied to pokerglory's topic in Tournament Play
Thanks for the affirmation (that the call is OK) and will take the advice of posting results 48 hrs later on.M was higher earlier on but a couple of lost races (AK losing to AJ, etc.) brought it to this stage. Next time I'll bring up the hand history, but in this case, I was only dwelling on the punch that knocked me out. I thought in general, I had played a good tournament without any major mistakes, just losing a few races that cost. -
Calling With Low Pairs Late In A Tournament On Small Stack
pokerglory replied to pokerglory's topic in Tournament Play
First in aggression on the table has become extremely aggressive. Blind protection hasn't been quite as big as expected. The only additional concern is that player directly to my left has amassed a huge chip stack (35000) by making very loose all-in calls and coming from behind to win (e.g. flop of QQ-J, calls AQ all-in with 99 and rivers the 9, or calling preflop raises with A9o).So to answer your question, it has been tough to steal at the table because of 2 factors: 1) first in aggressor is usually in an early position and leaves little room to trump 2) player to the left with the l -
Late in an online tournament. You are 40th out of 50th. Top 30 are in the money. You have been card dead for the past hour. You have 3500 in chips and blinds are 200/400 with 50 antes. (Your M is about 3.5).UTG has 3400 chips and pushes all-in. You have been observing his erratic play and know he is liable to go in with any 2 paint cards. Folded to you on CO. You look down at 6-6.You are 70% sure he simply has 2 overs and 20% sure he may have 2-2, 3-3, 4-4. Either way, you are quite certain he is looking at taking down the pot without resistance. You feel it is very unlikely he will push in wit
