  1. I just got back from another night at the local casino (River Rock) and I had to share what one of the players (who comes in regularly... just not regularly enough) actually said at the table. While talking about hand selection and such he said (and meant), "well, it doesn't matter anyway because every hand is 50/50 until the flop comes". I almost cried it was so sweet.
  2. Hey Guys,I've recently (about a month ago) switched to playing NL live. At my local casino, you're looking at a 1/2 $100max NL game. I have often read about standardizing your opening raises (and that's something I've really incorporated into my play), but, I'm not sure if my current standard is reasonable. If I'm opening the pot, I'm making it $12 to go, which .. seems like a lot. My buddy and I have debated whether or not it's too much.Any thoughts?
  3. Hey Akishore,Thanks for posting yours. My own analysis had led me to analyze it much the way you did, however, hearing the preliminary feedback was making me rethink my whole approach to NL. One of the earlier posters did provide a good point about whether I still had enough fold equity when I pushed - and that's probably the lesson I'll take from this hand.Cheers
  4. I took down a pot with Krabler yesteday too - live though. On the button, I looked down at K,3off and figured I had to play.. and.. if I had to play, I had to raise, so, I made my standard PF raise to $8 (1/2 NL 100 max). The flop was a beautiful, A,q,10 :-). Checked to me, I bet pot-sized and my gutshot straight-draw appeared to be best because they all folded :-)
  5. Sure... Seat 2 flipped over A,10 for TPTK, which.. put me in decent shape, but, all of my draws missed and she ended up taking down the pot.I thought it was somewhat humorous that she called so quickly, so, I said something like... wow - "quick call, eh?". Her response was "I had top pair, I had to call". Man, I was just hoping to catch a strong hand against her - sadly, never happened.
  6. My read was that she didn't have all that much strength - I made the semi-bluff on the assumption that she wouldn't be able to call the c/r. The PF raise had clearly been a position raise - although a dumb one [i dislike the min. raise] (button and min. raise didn't scream strength to me). Seat 2 (who led out on the flop) was truly ABC player, which led me to believe she had caught top pair and was looking for information from the PF raiser.
  7. I appreciate the advice so far.... I guess I hadn't thought of the odds that my opponent was getting for the call. She had enough invested that I guess I would've needed a lot more to force her out.Would a flat call have been appropriate in this spot then?
  8. Hi Folks,I've been playing 4/8 limit for 6 months now - but, my local casino just started spreading a 1/2 NL game $100 Max Buy-in (which is really a lot of fun). Anyhow, this hand came up last night I and was hoping for some feedback/thoughts.Playing 10-handed with me in Seat 9 in the BB with close to the full $100. I find 4 ,5 . PF we have 3 calls, button (seat 7) raises to 4. I figure my hand is good enough to call a min raise with to see the flop (mistake ???). 5 see the flop of 3,4,10 (with the 3 and 10 of ). SB and I check and Seat 2 (regular 4/8 player) bets 10, folds to Button
  9. I'd much rather take down that pot early. There's not point in letting the flush draw a cheap shot at drawing out on you (or any weirder crazy draws). A caller wouldn't be bad.. but.. neither is winning it there.
  10. Horribly played... Krablar must always be raised PF in order to be effective!!But.. at least it took down the pot.
  11. Right on... sounds like concensus is I can keep my money!!!It was the River Rock (is there another one in Vancouver with a jackpot??)
  12. Hey Folks,Tonight I was sitting at a 4/8 table at my local casino when the bad beat hit!!! $5100 richer.. that's certainly the biggest payday I've ever hit... I wish I could say I had played for it.. but.. I'm happy either way.Anyhow, question for everyone on etiquette. Because dealer tips are pooled, tipping at the table is futile as all hell. However, one of the other players got the dealers phone # so that we can arrange meetings and tip if we feel so inclined. Any thoughts on whether or not I should call him and set something up to tip him or whether that is not really necessary/approp
  13. I looked into it a little when I was building my table. I was told it was in the neighbourhood of $10,000. Also, they only "sold" it to casinos (to make it worse - it was only a lease... Shufflemaster retains ownership I guess). So... I guess we're stuck with those crappy $10 battery powered ones or good ole hand shuffling.
  14. I'd like to be able to work out my bb/100 for live play. Is there any sort of an average that is used? Or is this generally tracked using an hourly rate instead? Thanks
