spoken like a true 12 year old
actually i would think that you would have been eager to play under a bounty. given that you are such a professional, having come 8th in numerous tournaments in 2002, you would surely realize the value of having players gun for you with marginal hands, no?
how many final tables have you been to?nonethats what I thoughtend of story
  2. I think Marion has officially become the most popular person on the site, sorry DN and smash.I believe all attempts at dating Marion have to be accepted by the forum mistress Nikki N.
All requests should be sent in duplicate to myself, Madam Nikki, and Her Royal Highness, Mistress Renae Dawn. A picture and resume should be included. Women are encouraged to apply.
    What are the qualifications???

  3. daniel when you started building your bank roll was this all at the casinos? When i just read an article of yours about when you at one point had 1,000 it makes it seem possible to me that I may be able to contniue building a bank roll and get to much higher stakes. I started out with a $50 deposit on party poker last month and now have 7,000. I think its much easier to make money once you actually have money since you have the money to play higher stakes and make it at a much higher rate. Do you feel that first getting the bank roll past the low stakes of like $100 is the hardest part and now that i'm at about 7,000 I should be able to continue alot easier? At what point did you feel you had enough money to go play as a main source of income? I honsetly feel that I could get 30k by the end of the summer since I won't have school in the way. Your story actually made me inspired to know that even you started low and built your bank roll since that's what ive been doing online for the past month. Also im curious to know if you think its easier to build a bank roll online? I feel that nowadays young players have an advantage since playing online you can play WHENEVER you want, whatever stakes you want, and WITH whoever you want. I'm curious as to how come you didnt play online, or when you were building your bank roll were online sites not around? Online you can play alot of tables at one time and see much more hands so you can make money. After playing online for a month now I absolutely dread the live games with my friends with all the time spent on dealing and chip counting and all that. If it werent so fun because they're my friends i would hate it. Which makes me think the idea of a live multi table tourney being horrendus... 5 day tournaments to possibly get busted out with no money? Online you can get a tourney that has 2,000 players over with in about 7 hours. Sure beats 5 days. To anyone else reading, feel free to respond with your opinions on building a bank roll and where you're at if you're still building it.
50 -7000 in amonthmighty impressive
  4. where you are sitting in no way controls the cards your getting.you do understand this right?if you asked about seat choices due to certain players playing styles as to being on the left or right, that would be different.to say you get better cards in the 1 seat is foolishthats like saying when I play craps, if i stand with my back towards the table they always seven outcards and dice have no memory

  7. hey steve, lets make a plan to play a session or 2 during the wsopI have been playing the aladdin 1-500 buy-in nlh game (2-5)I was staked the first night(wed) and won 1572. the second night I was staked again and won 350.last night I went on my own and lost 275but I have a 700 br right now, and trying hard not to blow it on mlb or the machines, I really want to play some sats for mirage and wsop coming up.

  8. I do respect you stevebut if he asks what can he beat on the river, what could he possibly be ahead of on the turn? and all his chips went inthats why he almost 100% will call the river when a blank fallshes not betting twice than giving up on the river when a maeningless card rolls off.your telling me if a 3 pops on the river and kurt bets like 6500-8500 this man will fold?I cant see it.we disagree, thats okand kurt I may have jumped a bit at you for the "playing like a b itch remark" its cool. I have no problem with you.steve, you talk to david o yet?
But what determines what a blank card is? A 9 sure would seem harmless, but that obviously wasn't. Also he limped in from late position right? ( seriously) he did right cause i don't really remember. His kicker could have been anything. He easily could have limped against the blinds w/ Ace anything suited. So as long as the board doesn't pair he really doesn't know if he is beat. Say he bets like 8500 on the river, when a 9 comes off, then is raised. He's probably calling.
yeah the 9 would be a" blank" but thats how it goes3/44 unseenim still not changing my mind, whether he won the pot or not, I dont like the playI'm done now

  10. I didn't direct anything towards you, and thanks for trying to be civil about it, you are right that you have been. All I was trying to say is that waiting for another card is playing scared. If I won this hand, that thought would have never crossed anybody's mind. It's only the right play in so many people's head, because they know what the card was. If anyone would just call again here, they are slowplaying themselves into an early grave. Why should he have another chance to catch up? It's that simple. It's a weak, scared play to just call again... like it or not.Why aren't you in the thread about Daniel's hand telling him he should have just flat called down too?
thats such a different situationhe wins a 100,000 if he wins and he moved in on the flopits not playing scared, its playing smart.you know he has 3 aces, you know he is probably not folding (kickers dont matter)you have took all your control out of the hand on the turn if the river bricks you get paid, if it pairs your still in contention so in essence, what you did was give him a freeroll to take all your chips(assuming he wont fold on the turn, which was obviously the case)where as flatcalling the turn puts him in a spot where he has to call if a blank comes, and you escape with a board pairing.moving in was not the right playI really want to see dn, josh, or true pros take on this
  11. Yes and no - yes, surviving is most important, but if you survive with a severely short stack, you're going to be desperately looking to double up anyway, and you'll probably have to take the risk in a situation that is at best a coin flip. So I like taking the shot here, when you're a big favorite.
This is what I have been trying to get across. And I agree a raise is a better choice than a call, but I didn't think just raising would make him seriously think about folding. Say I raise his 3.5k to like 10k. Gives me 6 left, which commits me on the river, and I am quite sure he would call there. If I go all in, it's sending a clear message that I have the best hand and he's gonna need to draw out on me. Much more likely to get a fold. And for the people arguing about calling again, and waiting to see whether the river pairs the board again.... that is called PLAYING LIKE A BITCH!!!!You can't sit there in fear of a few cards when you have the best hand, just because it might go wrong. Stop being such pussies!
hey manI've done nothing but commend you for playing in this tourneynow your acting like a world beater, and a jerk-off.you played the hand like a newbie in a major tournament(which is what you are)so I guess I play like a bitch than huh?lets check my major tourney results and compare than with yours...oh yeah you have played in 113,500 in this spot, with the blinds is PLENTY of chipsYOU knocked yourself out of this tournamentI was trying to get some posters to lay off flaming you (if you read back in my posts) but your acting like a jerk-off now so get a gripyou made the worst possible play in that spot. you assured yourself of going home if this man hit his fullhousesee ya
  12. I have not played 1-2 in 10 years. but you are probably right QJ will call down with or without a raise.dont get me wrong, if there are 2 -3 limpers and I'm the sb, you best believe im popping it with AK5-7 limpers, I'll raise maybe 20% of the time depending on game variables and players and such.

  13. your right the guy with 89 is going to hang around and sure i lose one pot to him and 2.50(1 dollar pre flop .50cents on the flop and 1dollar on the turn and fold the river if i miss cause some one out of six calle me down with a pair or maybe even check call the river and pay him 3.50 just for the read) but the next time the flop come K 8 2 and he pays me off i win a pot of 10 dollars cause i made those other clowns pay me pre flop there for i am a plus three Big bets. i really think it is more then worth it to put in the extra small bet pre flop to have a good chance at winning three extra big bets in total. or the other sitution is i have big pocket pair and he seen me play AK like that and pays me off too where if i limp with AK and play it like a chicken, when i do pick up a big pair i dont' get paid off cause he pickes up on that i only raise with big pocket pairs out of postion and the calls my bet pre flop and if he doesn't flop a monster or a monster draw folds and i win nothing, part of limit poker is sometimes putting in extra little bets so you can get extra big bets called when or even raised when you have it. i mean obviouly when the flop comes jack high that isn't good for your hand but they don't know if you got AK or AJ or QQ, they may be hoping you have AK, and yeah i would raise with AJ in the same spot. I guess i just think flat calling with AK in this postion is playing not to lose poker instead of playing to win poker.
    yep
  14. You raise for the same reason you raise a flush draw in a multiway pot.Equity. You are winning 30% of the time and only putting in 18% of the money. That's a great equity edge that you should exploit by raising. Raising also gives you control and fold equity. Basically, you are building the pot when you have a superior hand. Limping gives up an equity edge (loss of extra money), gives you no control of the pot, and removes all, if any, fold equity.
are you factoring in extra bets you gain from limping when the flop is A q 6 and are paid the whole way by QJyou also gain deceptionagain, Im not saying i limp all the time, but I vary my play with AK and AQ alot (out of position)
  15. here is why i think it is wrong not to raise even with six limpers, first of with six limpers chances are pretty damn good you got the best at the time and well putting more money into the pot with the best hand seems pretty darn good to me. second it gives you power for the rest of the hand to drive people off and get free cards in order to make the best hand. You may have to display some good skills later on in the pot but that is poker. sure there all going to call preflop so your pot went up from 3.50 to 7 dollars by you risking only .50 cents xtra with the best hand so you are making them pay for limping in with to many hands and over the long run you will come out further ahead. and Agressiveness is a good thing in poker because you have to love fold equity, you are getting an extra small bet out of 3 or 4 people that are going to be gone when the flop misses them. but i say make them pay make them pay make them pay.
good luck "outplaying" 1-2 limit holdem players.you keep firing into the J 8 5 flop so the guy with 89 calls you down and says "see I knew he had AK"Im not saying never raise out of position with AK, I am saying to mix it up with the hand (AQ also)
  16. just want to see if i made the right playi am playing the party poker $22 mtt. tourney starts with 2000 people. there are 490 people left top 220 get paid. the blinds are 100 200 and i have about 4000 in chips the average is about 3700.i am on the button it folds to me and i get dealt queen of d and jack of h. i raise to 400 small blind folds the big reraises to 600. i call.flop comes 10 8 4 all diamonds. big blind leads out with 400 (there is 700 in the pot, now 1100 because of his bet) so i reraise all in for 3000 more... he has me covered by about 1000he thinks for a while and calls with Ace of c King of spadesso all i need is an 9, q, j, or any diamond... to take down the handthe turn brings an ace giving me another out the king... but river nothing my question is did i make the correct play here and if i didnt what was the correct play
couple of things1. there had to be 1300 in the pot not 700 (1700 counting the bet)2. you should have raised to 600-700 on the button not the minimum3. he made a bad call, but his mistake was made preflop (thats another story)4. your play on the flop was ok, but did you have the info on the player that would have clued you in he makes poor calls? if not than it was a bad play, knowing he will call with anything
