  1. What's the blind structure of the smaller (1500-2000) WSOP tourneys?I imagine it's nowhere near as smooth as the main event, but is it still pretty gradual or an all-in fest? I think they are all one-day events, so with fields of 500-1000 people the blinds presumably go up pretty quickly.
  2. I think your showdown % is the most glaring...I've always played with the thought that you should be WELL over 50%.I try to stay as close to 100% as possible, typically at least 80%.
  3. sure it will, the results of major MTTs are easily obtainable. here are all the 120+rebuy events mcevoy moneyed in:Event 10bPlace Name Prize 1 Ad Toms $7,498 2 Patrick Smith $4,130 3 Tom McEvoy $2,270 4 Dennis Horton $1,815 5 David Kelly $1,360 6 Joe Mercurio $1,135 7 Stuart Satterfield $910 8 Chris Smiley $680 9 Pappy Brown $455 10 Tanya Peck Event 17aPlace Name Prize 1 Joyce Lazarus $3,836 2 Tom McEvoy (Las Vegas, NV, United States) $2,300 3 Chong Suyi $1,205 4 Fred Yazd $875 5 Glenn Smith $765 6 Fred Kyles $660 7 Dan Olson $560 8 John Tone $440 9 Doug MacQuown $330 10 Todd Bycott
  4. Yeah I saw that too, his feet swinging back and forth....hilarious!
  5. Not Vegas, but I went to Foxwoods a few weeks back, and the waiting list for 2-4 Limit, and 1-2 NL was hundreds deep. After waiting for two hours and still not seeing my name anywhere near the top of the queue I abandoned it....very frustrating.Too bad too since the freakin Mohegan Sun closed their poker room.
  6. Ummm......A A = 77%7 8 = 23%exactly....3.35 to 1
  7. What level of the tournament you're competing in is totally irrelevant to what decision you should make. This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. So what if one player pushes before the flop? Do you fold your aces now because it's the first hand of the tournament? You should be playing to win, not to "stick around." This isn't a social gathering, it's a poker tournament, and you should be playing to WIN MONEY. That's what's wrong with this board, IMO. Way too many beginners who don't understand the fundamentals of the game. Poker tournaments are fun, and yeah it's exciting to play in
  8. ok that freakin smiley face above should be an 8
  9. i guarantee you no self respecting pro would lay down AA heads up at any point in any tournament, ever, with the possible exception of some absurd satellite situation in the most unlikely set of chipcount circumstances. the WORST aces can be is a 4-1 favourite, headsup. ONLY a 4-1 favourite???? what are you looking for, a better situation?First of all, you can be worse than 4-1 with AA (about a 3 1/2 to 1 favorite heads up against middle suited connectors (eg 7-8) when they are a different suit than the aces)but anyway, I would be looking for a "better situation" than 4-1 to go all in with on
  10. I imagine many top pros would lay this down even if it was heads up on the first hand of the WSOP if the man in front of them went all-in.No money invested, usually only a 3-1 or 4-1 favorite...why risk getting bumped in order to double up so early. With the blinds as small as they are, it would seem to be much safer to play small pots to build up a chipstack. Doubling up to 20k early doesn't seem like it would make that much of a difference in the long run.
  11. Yeah I was talking about 8's or better....that is true about a high flop I guess, traditionally if you hit the high hands hard there wouldn't be a low to worry about.
  12. I'm a Holdem player and I just recently started to dabble with a little Omaha H/L....in terms of opening hand selection, is it unwise to ever play a hand that doesn't have a hi AND a lo possibility? ie, any hand w/o an ace?Seems logical, just wanted to know if playing strong high hands like TJQK double suited or KKQQ are considered profitable and wise to play. Thanks
  13. Wow, thats surprising that none of these sites support Macs....I'll go try PokerRoom, thanks for the info.
  14. I'm on my roommates Mac and I'm having trouble installing various poker sites' software....I know nothing about Mac's so this may sounds stupid, but are .exe files not recognized by Mac's? If not, do these sites just not support Mac computers?Help! Thanks
  15. Thanks guys, it looks like Empire is one of the quicker blind structures out there...although it has been consistently pretty profitable over the last couple years. Perhaps, like you mentioned above, the skill level on Empire is just weaker overall.Lots of overly aggressive play very early from a good portion of the table.
  16. What site has the slowest sit-n-go blind structure?I've only played on Empire, which starts with 10/15 blinds increasing every 10 hands (each person starts with 800 chips). Is this good relative to what's out there? I haven't tested out any other sites. Thanks
