what are some good sites for heads up sit n gos?

Second that thought. I switched to pokerstars from ladbrokes in order to cut down on variance (and my sanity) -
Bluff 1: Duthie has about $200K and limps in MP with QJ, another limper in the CO, SB calls, BB raises for $35K (with K2). Duthie calls. Flop comes A23. Raiser leads out for $50K. Duthie moves all-in and the raiser folds...Bluff 2: Duthie is in BB, again with QJ. Button raises, Duthie calls. Flop K82, Duthie checks. The raiser fires out $50K. Duthie check raises another $100K! Raiser folds...Bluff 3: There's an EP raise with A7, button calls with QT, Duthie calls with Q9 in the BB. Flop is J62, Duthie checks, raiser bets $50K, button folds. Duthie check-raises another $50K! raiser has to fold.

In the UK, on challenge TV, I just watched the first episode of Celebrity Poker Club 3 (was it aired anywhere else before challenge?) The celebrity play was weak, but they did have Vicky Coren and Helen Chamberlain on so it all works outLike the original LNP, they don't reveal hole cards right away, which is something I personally like. What I thought was a very good innovation was having a psychologist analyse the player's body language and mannerisms. I would really like to see other poker shows do this, although I wonder what the pros would think...

don't know if anyone in the US has seen it, but John Duthie's 4 bluffs that stole the first Poker Million were just outstanding

I enjoy Norman Chad's commentary, I think he's a funny guy(ducks)

tricky no-limit cash game situation, wwyd?

This is a very interesting thread. I shall be thinking about this hand a lot, I'm grateful that I can do so without any of my own money on the lineand as a secondary bonus, it also inspired me to read all of bigskirace's posts -
Hiwith 4 callers + you and maybe the BB and assuming blinds of 10/20, would that not make only 120 in the pot? Its possible the A9 read your bet as strong-is-weak
-
I'd have led at the pot here rather than looked to check raise- you're much more likely to get a call from a flush draw rather than a raise. If the turn doesn't make the flush, the poorer odds with one card to come means you can then bet enough to make a drawing call a bad one

That tells me that you didn't raise preflop with TT. Make it at least 300 to play here and you probably won't get 3 to the flop. Maybe you're getting sucked out on because of stuff like this?

still in my thought process... whats the best plan?

Hi, I am grinding my bankroll up on pokerstars playing NL SNGs with the occasional ring game or Omaha SNG thrown in. Here are the SNG formats (example payouts given for $10+1 buyin)1 table: 9 players, 1st $45, 2nd $27, 3rd $182 table: 18 players, 1st $72, 2nd $54, 3rd $36, 4th $184 player match heads up: 1st $40for the 4 player heads up, you play one person heads up, then play the winner of the other match up -
I'm pretty sure I'd lay it down too, figuring to be up against a set or two pair. The only real clue you had that you were being bet out of the pot was the massive overbet. If Leeves was a maniac, I'd fold fairly easily as I've found maniacs go instantly all-in with their big hands, whereas they merely bet very large when they have a piece of the flop like in this case. For decent enough players though, the overbet is less clear-cut.

I think the play preflop and on the flop is fine, but once your significant flop raise has been called, I'd slow down. The only likely hands given the preflop raise are a bigger PP than 88 or a big spade draw. Given that, I don't like the all-in one bit - you'll only get called when you're beat.I'd have made a similar sized bet to your flop one on the turn to make the flush draws pay and, if that was called, check it down or fold to a serious bet if I missed the straight.

I completely agree with this. A standard 3xBB raise is only really effective at getting players to fold when there's been no callers in front of you. It only takes the first limper to call your raise to give the others good odds to stay in. My rule of thumb is to add 1xBB to a standard raise for every limper there's been in front of me.Also, once there's a few limpers in, making a small raise can actually have the exact opposite effect to the one you're after. A big stack may well call in the blinds with something very marginal, knowing that the limpers are unlikely to reraise and that they ca

taking effective notes on other players.

that seems a good system. what I do as well is to add a history for hands a player has played well or badly e.g.$20 SNG 9pl: blinds 10/20, has 1400 raised to 40 UTG, called raise to 160. flop 778, bet200, called allin raise for 900 more. shows A8o. raiser shows QQ (river 8 hit)I've found them to be a good accompaniment to subjective judgments. I don't date them though, I think I'll start doing that: good point theresa -
yup, AJo is a horror show.EP - very much depends on the table. I mostly raise with it in MP/LP in an unraised pot as I have a high chance of having the best hand, and I'll certainly raise it against a min-raiser if I have position (ugh minimum raising). I don't like calling very much - with this hand I want to have a good idea of the strength of my opponent's holding

what is considered a good in the money percentage?
chrisuk_sw replied to Rocketwadster's topic in General Poker Forum
If you're making the money in SNGs 60% of the time but not showing a profit, it suggests you're ante-ing and blind-ing your way into the money spots. Maybe read up on and play some shorthanded and heads-up games to improve your skills there, or be prepared to gamble a bit more in the later stages so that when you do get in the money positions you have enough chips to push on for the bigger payoutsjust my $0.02 -
no worries, no offence taken!I'll take note of "nh" for people who say it all the time and regardless of how the hand unfolded or was played, not those who are polite or graciousI have found in my experience that "gl all" is a very reliable indicator of a weak player (I always add a note if someone types this)
-
hithe best online tells I know of are from the clueless who say "gl all" at a tournament's start or "nh" every other hand, and impatient players that go "zzzzzzzzzzzzz" if someone pauses for half a second
