  2. I think all these 3 points are good and have practical value.
  3. Just nitpicking a little bit. Player A's expectation always changes positively by a constant amount by player B's decision. That's what I was trying to say in my other post with m2 > m1. This is true from a pot size of 0 to infinity, but with a pot size of less than 3.11 bets A is also making the wrong decision to call.As you say, and as I said in my other post, this depends on how the players' draws affect each other. To nitpick again. I would say that the application to morton's theorem is that you don't always want players to *make the wrong decision* because it may gain someone else ins

  5. Interesting, but then again in Theory of Poker Sklansky says that there are situations in multiway pots when the fundamental theorem of poker does not hold. One further remark is that player A will always want player B to call in this sitation, even when it is correct for B to do so. Let's take a closer look.Player A's expected value looks like this:E(A|B folds) = 9/46 * (P+2) - 37/46 * 1E(A|B calls) = 9/46 * (P+3) - 37/46 * 1As you can see, player A's chance of winning the pot is not affected at all if B folds or calls because B's decision doesn't affect how many outs A has. 7. No, I'm not being results oriented. I didn't mean to come off like I was. I know very well the result of one hand is meaningless. I really thought he had the Ace. As I've said before, with 3 people calling the turn I found it highly probable. If it had been heads up I would have called. However, I've still come to think now that it was a bad lay down considering the price and how I played the hand up to that point. And that the entire hand was played poorly.
  8. Yeah, it was a correct lay down. He slowplayed Ad Jd, so he had it the whole way. That's one of the reasons I wanted to post this hand. I felt good seeing that ace after the fold and that probably affects my thinking. Now, after some time has passed I agree with you on the river too. I played this hand pretty badly. It's obvious that I have a flush that is not the nuts and that I'm not too comfortable with. He could definitely be making a play here. Thanks for your comments.
  9. First point: In a word, yes. In more words: what flop are you hoping for? Q4x? 44x? True, your implied odds are there for those, but the other 90%, you're just as likely to get something like this, where you can lose everything. Better to fold now and kick yourself later for missing a big hand than call and lose with a big but not big enough hand.Second point: I just thought he was a little passive everywhere. I think we both would have liked to see a bet before the turn, at least see where you are. Or build the pot, which I felt I would have been doing.Third point: I finally caught where he b
  10. I did bet the turn. With 3 callers I think it's very probable the Ad is out there, so I check/fold the river. But I was kinda unsure the entire hand, so I expect to be criticised on all streets.
  11. Thanks for the input on the pre-flop raise, I like that.He had pocket sevens, which made me slightly agitated for a little while.
  12. Pot limit hold'em. What do you think? Don't really know how to play in this situation. I guess that's what I get for playing crap hands (although this could come up with a good hand too). This is also an example of a pet peeve of mine: the minimum pre-flop raise. I feel I can't fold when I've already put in a small bet because of the implied odds if I hit a monster flop, but I don't really want to call.Texas Hold'em $0.25-$0.25 PL (real money)Seat 1: LP ($23.80 in chips)Seat 2: CO ($6.15 in chips)Seat 3: Button ($12.50 in chips)Seat 4: HERO ($73.65 in chips)Seat 5: BB ($32.55 in chips)Seat 6: U
  13. Hey, have you been watching me! :)I've lost with KK 5 straight times getting outdrawn on the turn or river by flushes 3 times and pocket sevens 1 time, plus that I was up against AA once.Note: This is not a post saying you shouldn't play KK or something stupid. I feel I played them right all 5 times (one of them is posted in the strat section) and don't really feel bad about losing.
  14. I'm mainly a limit player but I'm currently trying to take a stab at pot limit holdem. I'm feeling unsure about how aggressive to play. Should I have slowed down on this hand?Sorry for not using the hand converter, but I can't get it to work with Pokerroom. I removed all pre-flop folds.Seat 1: MP1 ($29.20 in chips)Seat 2: MP2 ($24 in chips)Seat 3: LP ($16.85 in chips)Seat 4: CO ($12.95 in chips)Seat 6: Button ($65.35 in chips)Seat 7: SB ($13 in chips)Seat 8: HERO ($24.50 in chips)Seat 9: UTG ($24.75 in chips)Seat 10: UTG+1 ($9.30 in chips)ANTES/BLINDSSB posts blind ($0.25), HERO posts blind ($
  15. A bit offtopic, but you can use www.betsson.com in Sweden and they use the same software, and I believe some of the same servers, that Pokerroom does.
  16. I would just like to underline the importance of this statement. If you're going to argue that online poker is rigged, then you'd better have the hand histories of many thousands of hands before anyone will listen. It's simply not statistically sound unless you have a large enough data sample to use. Bad beats happen and they can happen lots and lots of times in a row (or close to it), so you have to look at a very large amount of hands to draw any conclusions.
  17. I agree. Note that I sneaked in "at the same limit" right at the end of my first post. :-)
  18. I won't argue about the rating. As you say, he is a very aggressive player and he will not benefit as much from his style against weak players.I'm firmly in the loose/passive tables are the most profitable camp and if my assumption that Barry's rating are based on a comparison to other pros, then the rating doesn't imply that Doyle makes less against weak players than against strong. That's a logical fact and that's the point I wanted to make.I think that he most likely is more profitable against weak players than against strong players. He probably will not get as much out of them as some oth
  19. I don't know the criteria he uses for setting the ratings, but I would guess that it is set according to how good a player is compared to other top pros.If that is true, then Doyle's ratings don't mean that he makes more money against strong opponents than against weak opponents. It means that he makes less against weak players compared to how much other pros make against weak players. I would be very surprised if he doesn't make a lot more playing against weak players than he does playing against strong players at the same limit.
  20. I'm pretty new to poker and not at all up at the level necessary to play a tournament like this, but here is my opinion for what it's worth (2 cents maybe...)I think it's absolutely imperative that the rules are clear and cast in stone up front and I don't think you're over reacting at all. I mean, every event where there is something at stake, be it hockey, soccer, football, poker or whatever, you can't just throw in random changes just because it suits you and you have the power to do so. It's simply unfair to the participants that entered the event under other preconditions.I wouldn't have
  21. I would if I was running Windows. ;)Maybe they're including the "online poker is rigged" factor, but then I guess it'd be like 50% instead.
  22. No, you can't make play money tournaments at pokerroom, just checked. Cash games works though, as you said.
  23. This is slightly off-topic, but I'm now officially confused by cardplayer's odds calculator.I was going to check how 78s did against AA because it should be as good as 67s. Anyway, after entering the hands I accidentally clicked "calculate odds" two times and got different results. Then I tried to calculate those same hands several times in a row and got results ranging from 22.9% to 23.2%.Weird...
  24. I just came off a session where I won a 30BB pot. I had a full house, kings over fours with KK as hole cards. There were a number of very weak players along for the ride that helped drive up the pot.One had KQ for a two pair of kings and fours. One had AT for a two pair of aces and fours. One had JJ for a two pair of jacks and fours. One folded at the river.Very nice to take down that one.
  25. I think I have a big leak playing heads up when I'm one of the blinds and everyone to the blinds fold. I feel I'm often overplaying hands at this point (The hand below is not necessarily one of them). So, I have two questions and a hand that I'd like to have comments on.First the questions:1) Is it profitable to play these situations aggressively in lower limits if you're a bit uncomfortable with how to play? I'm currently at $0.50/$1.00 and as situations like this rarely come up in these games I'm thinking that I'm not losing much to give up easily, especially since you can risk quite a lot to
