  1. Ok, I am a huge Kobe Bryant fan and feel that you can put him and Michael Jordan on a level no one else will ever reach. With the exception of Kobe, I honestly don't think there is another player coming close to what Carmelo is doing and has done the past two seasons. He is continually improving (strength, fitness, leadership) and is quite simply the most dangerous and unstoppable scorer in the league. Also, a tremendous rebounder and as clutch a shooter as there is in the league. I love Dwayne Wade but I would definitely take Carmelo over him if I was starting a team so the only other compa
  2. Isidur seems to have everyone's number except Antonius and Ivey which is not a big surprise. Also, I think Zigmund has quite an edge on him in PLO.As far as durrrr goes, he seems completely outmatched and would do well to just avoid this guy - according to High Stakes DB durrr is down 6 million in the last month, although he did take 2 small wins (300k) since his low point, so let's say 5.5 million not counting a session that ended this morning with Isidur having 879k on one table and durr being broke. His aggression at NLHE is pure and unadulterated, simply a force of nature. Obviously at PLO
  3. The right to bear arms or the right to bare arms?? Daniel says he won a bean in a mixed 1500-3000 game at the Bellagio - Am I correct to assume he won 100k - this is the only amount which would makesense but I have never heard that reference of "bean" before?
  4. Very interesting, not only does it allow you to compare results of the big name players but it gives you very concrete stats on just how hard it is to turn a profit for an aspiring player to travel the circuit. I would even say some of Daniel's estimates are low -20k includes travel, taxes, etc but human nature is to go out and buy something big when you have a breakthrough win. Tournaments have always seemed like a waste of time to me, and I much prefer cash games but I do love the aspect of being able to "crunch the numbers" I was most surprised by Greenstein and Sebok's results - I knew Joe
  5. The poker element of this show is almost non-existent but to put a twist on the quote "Poker is a people game played with cards"I would say the show is " An exciting game show and very watchable entertainement using poker as the hook" Would be nice if there was a little more play in at least the 100k heads up with Daniel but I have watched and enjoyed both shows and even signed up 4 a PokerStars account to play the 20k freeroll but got knocked out with AK vs KQ all in on the AK7 rainbow flop to runner runner flush.
  6. I understand that but if awards were given for what the governing body awarding them states they are for then Michael Jordan would have won every MVP award during his playing career (pre 2nd retirement). Obviously, people voted for Obama due to his celebrity, unfortunately bypassing at least two very worthy but lesser known candidates that I read about. It would be like giving the Lakers the trophy for 2010, I like their chances but there is a reason they play the games.
  7. Here is a list of some of the other winners since 19931993 - Nelson Mandela and Fredrik De Klerk1994 Yasser Arafat, Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Rabin (for Middle East Peace Treaty)1999 Doctors without Borders2001 United Nations and Kofi Annan2002 Jimmy Carter Jr.2005 International Atomic Energy Agency and Mohamed El Baradei2007 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and Al Gore Jr. Nothing against our president, after all I voted for him but maybe he should have done something besides getting elected and bailing out Wall Street before getting this award. It is generally given for a lifeti
  8. posts are posting 2x - oops...............
  9. I am surprised Daniel hasn't weighed back in on this topic especially when I read someone's quote that it is harder to win a 1k buy NLHE tourney than a 10k or 50k event (NLHE or not) - while it obviously requires a little more luck to dodge the land mines and horrible players sucking out in 1000 plus player tourney, it requires a higher level of skill to win a tourney where there aren't any weak spots at the table from start to finish. Have you not been paying attention to the changes that have been made to the WSOP by the players comittee to have higher buy ins and more mixed games, etc. T
  10. In the last 5 or 6 years Lindgren has won 2 WPT titles, the Aussie Millions high roller event, a WSOP bracelet, Player of the year at WSOP 2008 and 3rd place at 50k HORSE - Hellmuth would not have had a chance in either the 50k or 100k buy in - in fact I don't think he even played in the HORSE event this year. Also, I put him in the top 12 tournament players of all time, not exactly ripping his skill. Maybe Daniel will weigh in on who he would rate as the better player overall, oh wait, he did as he had million dollar side bets on himself and E-Dog this year (and yes I know Erick didn't run
  11. I never count Stu Ungar because of the way he wasted his talent, but I agree he probably had more talent than any player in history and certainly won't argue with him being at the top of your list.
  12. It is a nice accomplishment for Daniel but you have to take it with a grain of salt. Jamie Gold and Peter Eastgate have more career winnings than T.J. Cloutier and Johnny Chan. Perhaps someone should compile a list of who has won the most major tournaments (I am sure it would be T.J.) and also the WSOP should compile a ranking system that includes final tables and bracelets divided into tournaments entered. Two separate percentages and then average them together - a guy like Hellmuth would still be towards the top but it would be a way to balance out the guys who play 30 tourneys at the WSOP
  13. If you are already winning in this session I don't hate the preflop call but I don't love it either. I understand wanting to play as many pots as possible versus the weakest player at the table but from your earlier description it seems that you are going to have to make your hand against this player to win the pot.As Daniel would tell you, ABC poker works best when playing against weaker players and at low stakes. Fancy plays aren't necessary, in fact you give away your edge on weaker players when you play garbage out of position - are you the fish or is he? The hand you described generally
  14. P.S. Hellmuth used to refer to himself as the John McEnroe of poker but that is really insulting to John who people actually like and is the best tennis announcer, maybe the best sports announcer, around.(Hoping this topic will now degenerate into a discussion of a) John McEnroe B) sports announcers c) history
  15. I thought Phil Ivey was the Tiger Woods of Poker. (a Mike Sexton quote) - In all sincerity, it seemed like Daniel put on a clinic and deserved better luck.I know following his career and reading his thoughts on how to approach tournament poker have enriched my bottom line and my overall enjoyment of poker. Somebody tell Hellmuth if poker players are going to be compared to golfers he is Rory Sabbatini.
  16. My bad - I thought people would understand the post was tongue-in-cheek. Try to develop a sense of humor folks, as poker players sometimes all you can do is laugh.
  17. Let's be honest folks, we need to get to the bottom of this mystery. Why is Canada's favorite son and America's adopted hero placing 2nd more often than Chris Evert at Wimbledon? It is pretty simple if you do some research - THE CURSE OF JOE HACHEM. You may see Mr. Hachem as a fine poker player, and one of the more talented Main Event champions of the last 7 years, but I know better. Let me take you back to a WPT event several years ago, the Doyle Brunson North American Championship I believe. Our hero, Kid Poker is dominating another WPT final table, owning his opponents, calling all-ins wi
  18. I will give you 3 to 1 odds they don't even finish the challenge by Christmas. Does anyone know when Sammy George and the Pale one play their live heads up ?
  19. Two things: 1) I would consider Daniel along with T.J. Cloutier in his prime as the two greatest tournament players in history and they both excel in all the games. He is also much more professional than PH and a great ambassador for the game. 2) I think Gabe Kaplan summed it up best on HSP - Hellmuth isn't as bad as the high stakes pros make him to be and he isn't as good as he thinks he is. Phil had the foresight to see what NLHE tournament poker could become and put himself in a position to capitalize on it. You have to give him credit for that.I ho
  20. Epic heads up match - 14 hr final table - ONE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on all it takes is two hands This will be an instant classic, up there with Chip Reese 50K HORSE
  21. Down to 6 and Daniel is picking up steam!!!! Now we are getting somewhere...........let's hope the eliminations are contagious and we get down to 2 or 3 handed in the next hour or two.
  22. Obviously, Daniel got lucky early to double up with set over set, but it seems he is now in comple control and feeling very comfortable. This would be a very prestigious victory so I am taking the day off from grinding and just rooting for Daniel. Good Luck!P.S. I made a prop bet last year that Daniel gets to 15 bracelets b4 Hellmuth (getting 3-1 since PH has 11 already) so I am definitely including this one if he wins it- does anyone know if they officially count WSOPE events in the bracelet count, I am assuming they do.
  23. If you have been playing poker 4 awhile and are not using small ball you are just missing out, plain and simple. Online, I actually love to use it in non-rebuy PLO tourneys due to the fact antes are never introduced and you can get down to 18 or 20 times the big blind and still be ok. Structure does play an important role but even in the local charity poker rooms I sometimes play when in michigan (where the structure is atrocious) if you remain patient, small ball will allow you an extra opportunity to double your chips when your opponents are drawing dead. One of the most important aspects is
  24. I predict it was a squeeze but with a hand he felt could reasonably be the best hand that also doesn't play as well after the flop versus multiple opponents and out of position.
