  1. You can never remove all the gambling from poker.. it's inherent in the game. It's all about each person's threshold of being willing to put their bankroll at stake for a given EV (from a Rock to an Elephant). I think Food said it very well... the skill in poker is getting your money to the middle with as much +EV as possible, but you always know that a bad beat is possible...
  2. hate to bandwagon, but I agree.... great thread...Bizzle, I can't wait to read your 'ride-along'...
  3. I think God hates you... Seriously, keep at it.. it will swing back the other way... eventually...
  4. yes, banks suck.. but we all know that, and we all know that you almost always have to wait when making a big deposit like that.. especially by check... they are just covering their asses...DN realized he shouldn't have gotten a check.. although walking in with a bag full of hundred dollar bundles would probably make them suspicious as well...
  5. Winning is always nice...Winning one with some emotional ties is even better!Grats!!!
  6. not bad...not the best ever... but definitely not bad...and it's a whole hell of a lot better than I could do!!
  7. haha.. I like that.. I can only dream of being broke (zero balance) some day!!!
  8. post a pic of these girls and then we can help you...
  9. troll?even so.. I'll take DN...
  10. tough hand... I'd probably do one of 2 things in this situation..I agree I wouldn't want to risk 20% of my chips here... JTo isn't that good... you get some straight equity, but any A, K, Q, or any pocket pair has you at this point...So, I'm either folding outright.. and waiting for a better hand to play (or better spot to bluff)... since I'll have great position for the next few hands...or, I'm limping, and folding to his pot size raise... though I'll be wondering if I'm letting him push me off the winner... I limp hoping to see 2 pair, a made straight, a set or a miracle full-house on the fl
  11. most people will check a flopped set of A's.. that's the natural tendency... cause you don't want to scare anyone out... so I'd probably bet with it... hoping he had the case A and would call me... then I'd lead out again... a call or raise on the turn would throw me though.. and I'm not sure what I'd do.. it would depend on my read of the situation and the villain...based off just this one hand though, it would be damn near impossible to put him on 47... calling your PF raise would make me thinkg more like AK - AJ... so I'd still think I was in the driver seat.. until he had all my chips!
  12. his min-raise was donk-ish... yours was fine, IMHO...no flush threats, no full house threats, not even a higher straight possible with this flop...like you said, worse case, you were up against trips and were risking him hitting a full house... unless he was being EXTREMELY donkish and drawing to a highe inside straight...now, you might have to slow down on the turn, if it went that far... but as it was played.. I"d probably do the same...

  14. Dear Poker Gods,Please let me be sitting at a table some day and someone walks up with one of these tin-foil hats on... please, please....I'll be a good boy and never min-raise with my KK again, or chase my flush/straight when I'm not getting the right odds... I promise!!!
  15. Does everybody on this site have a wife and 3-kids?!?! :)I'm in the same boat.. but I'd love to have a crack at this...My family does come first, but this is one heck of an opportunity... as long as your job can deal with the 4 tourney trips, then I don't see what's stopping you...
  16. good info.. I was just wondering this... hadn't tried to search yet...
  17. I'm just listening now... he sounds very 'happy'...
