  1. First off, tell us what you think your main problem in adjusting is. If we know that we can give you more specific advice. It could be a psychological problem for all you know. The more information we have the better diagnosis we can give.Secondly, regarding hand percentage, don't worry about that. Just worry that you are playing the right hands for the game and position you are in. I'm going to echo everyone with suggestion that you read small stakes.

  2. Actually its a fairly common concept. Remember against the bad opponents you see in PLO, second best hands is a great source of profit. One of the reasons for wanting more people in the pot when drawing to the flush (besides better odds) is that you are hoping somone is calling hoping to make a dominated hand. People are going to have a much harder time laying down a king high flush compared to queen high flush. So, both AhKh and AhTh are decent starting hands but I would much rather draw to the flush with the second one.

  3. Number two definitely. The only sections from one that are still applicable are the nl section and the stud section. All of the other games are no longer exsistant or structured differently. However, just so you know the PLO section in SS/2 isn' t that good. If you have played the game for more than a hour, you will already know most what is in there.

  4. If you never bet marginal hands at the river then you will get too many pots taken away from you.  The second player in the pot will often bet his position at the river, and in my opinion it is better to be raising with marginal hands than calling with them.  Raising gives you the chance of winning without a showdown, but calling you have to have the better hand.  I don't see why you would call this the worst play in poker.  You should look at it more like a bluff than anything else.  The real thing is that these are the types of hands you should really be bluffing with because there is at least a chance of winning a showdown.
I think Feguson was more referring to nl where a reraise can have you seriously doubting the strength of your hand.
  5. What everyone else said. Plus a couple of things of note. Heads up you were a favorite against a straight with two cards to come. Also, a set against two straights is a favorite with two cards to come. Both of those were highly likely so he was right to fold his straight.A set with flush draw versus straight:http://twodimes.net/h/?z=1003917pokenum -o kd js 2c 3c - ah as 4h 5c -- ad qh th Omaha Hi: 820 enumerated boards containing Ad Qh Thcards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EVJs 3c 2c Kd 280 34.15 540 65.85 0 0.00 0.341As 5c Ah 4h 540 65.85 280 34.15 0 0.00 0.659Two straights against a set:http://twodimes.net/h/?z=1003737pokenum -o kd js 2c 3c - ad as 4c 5c - kc jc 6c 7c -- ah qd ts Omaha Hi: 666 enumerated boards containing Ts Qd Ahcards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EVJs 3c 2c Kd 0 0.00 263 39.49 403 60.51 0.303As 5c 4c Ad 263 39.49 403 60.51 0 0.00 0.395Kc Jc 7c 6c 0 0.00 263 39.49 403 60.51 0.303

  6. Just went out in 1070 place. Blinds are 25/50 and I have about 1650. I limp withpocket jacks utg as I really dont want to play to this out of position. Theres a few callers and then the sb raises to 450. I had just watched him call an all in of 700 with 45 suited so I wasn't overly worried. I push all in. He calls with aq and hits his A.

  7. Some guys may call this guy a wimp, but he's right. Assult charges are serious, not to mention that several people jumpling one person can quickly get out of hand. Add in the chance of him carrying a weapon and the violence just becomes a really risky idea.
That is why you prepare for this instance.....If the cheater has a weapon....you should always have somebody with a firearm ready...and if the cheater pulls his gun...you shoot him dead. (In Florida, you are allowed to kill an intruder in your home.)After you kill him, you might have to "prepare" the scene and have the other players give statements as to the "fact" that the cheater intruded into your home with a firearm....or of course you dispose of the body by chopping it up and placing the pieces into seperate garbage bags and then toss them in the ocean weighed down by concrete blocks.
Christ, I'm from Texas. I really should have known better. Here you are allowed to shoot somebody for looking at your house funny. Please disregard my "sound" advice from earlier.
  8. You guys that say you should use physical violence are just insane. Here's why:1. In most states, playing poker is illegal. But you only get caught if someone reports you.2. In all states, hitting someone is illegal (usually a FELONY!).So, you hit the guy, he goes to the cops, they come to your house and arrest you for battery, and OOPS you are gambling illegally so you now have 2 charges against you.I host a LOT of home games as well as an entire league of tourneys, and I've give a LOT of thought to this. If it's a tourney, then the person is "asked" to leave and of course forfeits his buyin. If it's a cash game, he forfeits what's on the table and the money is split between the players (and I may pro-rate the split if anyone came in recently, etc.).But I'm not gonna take the money out of his wallet or hit him...that's THEFT and BATTERY.

  9. Is it surprising that Gus would do so well? He can destroy plenty of pros so why is it hard to believe that he could destroy internet players?
Because I watched him coldcall two bets with a t4o. Gus makes many plays which are very questionable in cash games. There was a journal from DN in the big game where he completely misplayed a PLO omaha hand.
  10. I saw a hand alot like this yesterday on Party. A dude made a Royal Flush on the river in a $25 nl game and just called a small bet. He could have busted the other guy who make kings full of tens. I guess that should be expected on party poker though.
They other guy was more of an idot. He had a boat against a likely flush or straight and didn't reraise?
  11. Why check in the dark at all?
Checking in the dark is an important tactic in stud. There are times you have a good (but not great) made hand (two pair, etc.) and you have one opponent that you know has been on a flush or straight draw. When 7th street comes, you know if you bet, you are going to get raised if he got there -- you'll get a fold if he didn't. So you check in the dark and get him to declare himself. If he bets, you can call -- either winning the pot and one extra bet you almost certainly wouldn't have if you led out (since he would have folded and not bothered to try and represent a hand) or losing only one more bet (rather than two) when you call him and see his flush made on 7th.You can lose a bet from time to time by not betting for value. But in a drawing game like stud, the bets you'll save will far outnumber the bets you'll lose when you're playing against drawing hands.
Is it basically to try and get a free showdown? Letting him know that if he bets you are calling him any ways so he shouldn't try bluffing?
  12. In Daniels blog about his match about Mimi Tran he had this to say:Overall I was happy with my play, but limit hold'em is a card catching contest and it was clear that I caught the most cards. It is very clear that No limit Holdem involves tons more skill and people who play limit are just panzies
I'm seeing a big gap in your logic here. Just because he called limit holdem a card catching contest, doesn't neccessarily means he believes nl is not.
  13. ----------LIMIT HOLDEM--------is the TOPIC here!!!! damn it!!A good example of how;"limit holdem is not that skillfull" is simply a comperison between ; :!: :!: LIMIT HOLEM & LIMIT OMAHA h/l :!: :!: This is just another example that shows ; that for limit holdem you need waaaay less SKILL- than you need in most of the other games of poker!!ohhh.. and No Limit is not "always bout ALLINS", everybody who doesnt agree I would suggest to watch a NL-ring game for an hour or more.
I have no idea what your point is here. Please elaborate.Oh, and you haven't see me play nl. I love to go all in.
