I've Got A Serious Dilemma...
David_Sklansky replied to Lieutenant_OH7's topic in General Poker Forum
Spade and I disagree on apples, but it's hard to argue with the poker wisdom of a man staked by DN. This reminds me a bit of an iconic martial arts movie, Karate Kid (2010). When Mr. Han was training Dre, he had him do what seemed like menial chores involving hanging jackets. Dre got frustrated and bored, and felt like Mr. Han was taking advantage of him. He bucked up on him the same way you are doing with us. But in the end, Mr. Han knew better than Dre, and trust, respect and patience get you a lot further than just barreling ahead like Leroy Jenkins. Please slow down and learn to take advic -
Hicks love shows that paint worse off hicks in a negative-but-harmless light. It's like with Blue Collar Comedy Tour, where on the surface the idea of educated, wealthy frauds putting on a white minstrel show and making a mockery of impoverished rural whites seems like it should offend a lot of people, but what actually ends up happening is it provides a way for semi-loser whites to elevate themselves by laughing at the worse off people around them. Stuff like this is to lower-middle class whites as African minstrelsy was to the Irish.

Help With Learning The Math
David_Sklansky replied to Tylerhorseman's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
Deuces Cracked is great, or at least it was a decade ago or whenever I last had access. A more holistic approach, though, might be to study for the GED. You'll learn all the math you need for basic poker stuff, and put yourself on the path to learn more complicated ideas down the road, like calculus or combinatorics or whatever. -
I've Got A Serious Dilemma...

I'm not denying the healing power of apples, we've all heard the expression, "an apple a day keeps the doctor away." But this is further bad advice. An odd number of apples keeps the doctor away, sure, but an even number of apples and you'll incur the wrath of Mephistopheles. Eritis sicut Deus, Scientes Bonum et Malum. Eritis sicut Deus, Scientes Bonum et Malum. Eritis sicut Deus, Scientes Bonum et Malum. -
I've Got A Serious Dilemma...

I can only assume the apple thing is a joke. I don't really know a ton about cereal grains, but apples are kind of interesting. Apples today, especially in the west, are basically all genetic clones of a couple of plants. See, it's difficult to get a palatable apple. If you plant the seeds of an apple, the genetics are totally shuffled around, and the fruit of the tree won't resemble the fruit from which the seeds came. And the vast majority of apples are tart and nearly inedible. For this reason, as hard cider fell from favor in America, apple planters simply began grafting new seedlings with -
Creating An Ios + Android App For My Community!
David_Sklansky replied to AlbertoR's topic in General
I recommend against making an android app. You really don't want to waste your time on Android people. Honestly, as our privacy comes more and more under assault, I'd think about doing what you can to make your community less accessible, not more. Have you thought about migrating your community to TOR? It will be less convenient, but as long as you're still providing the goods, you're still going to get traffic. I mean, it's an addiction just like any drug. -
The Dan Le Batard Show
David_Sklansky replied to brvheart's topic in Entertainment: Television, Movies & Music
Came here to mention that Mike Ryan exchange. I've never seen a professional funny man get ethered like that by a civilian. I guess it doesn't help when your brand of comedy is unintentional and self-oblivious. I've only heard clips of Dan's racially changed anti-Magic agenda, and while it's hard for a long-time listener to suggest he's consciously being racist, he's absolutely super dismissive of Magic's prolonged business success. I don't know how much of this is implicit bias and how much is just his tonedeafness, and I don't think it's worthy of all the attention he's getting, but I'm -
I held out hope that Vivek was just an excentric with New Owner Syndrome longer than most, but even that died all the way back when they decided to go with Colison over IT. And that was before we knew that IT is actually kind of good.

Official Alt-Right Neo Nazi Thread
David_Sklansky replied to FCP Bob's topic in Politics, Economics and News
At least theoretically, I accept the possible existence of completely amoral psychos, who don't fear or dislike one race more than any other, and just don't give a shit about them and opertunistically hang minorities out to dry. I think that's way, way rarer than people think, including people like Chomsky who insist that capitalism is not inherently racist, but I accept that it's at least logically possible that some conservatives are just evil, antisocial monsters, and not straight-up racists. -
Any time I play a stratocaster at a music shop, I make sure to play In the Evening. It's not the obvious needle that playing Stairway is, but the guitar will 100% be badly out of tune when I'm done, which is my subtle revenge for making me ask to see the guitar.

I once received a lap dance to a Jepson playlist, which featured her singing "Part of Your World," from The Little Mermaid. I ejacualated, but not during that song.

You know how a lot of people will post a picture of their gear and folded up clothing and shoes and everything laid out on a table or bed or w/e before they put it on to run or work out? My partner caught me jerking off to one of xers on IG. For Valentine's Day, xe blindfolded me and lead me into the bedroom. Candles were lit, and xer hottest and most practical gear were all laid out. I got a reach around while staring at this. We've entered a post-sexual age of erotosism, and I urge you all to abandon your addiction to the human form and to start fetishizing gym clothes as an abstraction.

I don't mind the homoeroticism of this conversation, it's the racism that's triggering me. Leave it to the middle of the country to choose the real life embodiment of a Nazi propaganda poster as their ideal of male beauty. Bruce Lee, Richard Roundtree, Woody Allen...all better picks than Redford.

What Is The Last Movie You Saw?
David_Sklansky replied to Alter-Ego's topic in Entertainment: Television, Movies & Music
Hateful 8 was the weirdest hangout/bottle movie I've ever seen, I loved it. The SLJ story about making the dude's son suck his dick for a blanket could carry any movie, honestly. -

Today might be my favorite local hour ever, and this Jamie Farr situation is flames. -
A few weeks ago, I had to go to the emergency room as the result of enthusiastic foreplay. Last night, my partner cut xer hand on my gladius while having sex. I'm now looking for a blacksmith to make us his and xers suits of plate armor, but with openings for our genitals. I've had ideas for fetishes that were just as hot, but never one that's also this practical.

You don't have to take a screenshot, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find someone to PS an HD fake of the same text.

Pendleton is a Winner brand. I have like 15 blankets like that. They are great for shoulder season hammock usage, but I hadn't thought to max out my pets with them. Also, while their shirt cuts are kind of boxy and dated to me, they sell their fabrics too. Some of my favorite shirts are made from Pendleton wool.

Another option to consider is abandoning the traditional bar scene entirely, and finding some kind of anonymous sex club where everyone wears masks or something. I know you're not hanging out at bars just to get laid, but I'm sure there are lulls in the orgy where you could make conversation and fill your social needs too. I personally haven't tried this route yet, but I'm not really a selfie guy anyway.

One of my favorite hobbies is whenever I'm tagged in a photo with someone, I accuse the person of using filters or choosing from a variety of shots in order to make me look worse and them look better. Also, an alternative to skincare and excercize is to find a darker bar to frequent. Not only will you look better, but uglier women will seem more appealing to you. It's a little like getting drunk, but is photography-persistent.

I was listening to a podcast and some lower tier writer told an interesting Anthony Kiedis story. She was at a coffee shop or a book store cafe or something, and Kiedis was there, holding court with his flunkies, and he was just hammering a hacknied joke about fancy coffee drinks into the ground, prencing about, highly animated, saying "I'll have the mocha fratte latte batte with soy" over and over, as his crew reliably exploded with laughter. She then saw him at a restaurant, months later, with a woman. The woman ordered coffee, and he asked her, "wouldn't you rather have a mocha latte bratte

Random Entertainment Observations

Just watched, am completely floored. The previews made me think it would be my favorite show for the next 10-12 months, and the premiere raised my expectations.
