  1. I've already said that this hand was played terribly many times and what went wrong... As far as the second hand is concerned though, would have have continued to play it postflop with the flop what it was? Also, I know it's nothing like HU play, somebody else thought that I was referring to limit play when I said "getting to a showdown."
  2. Thanks very much for this. As far as the first hand goes, I think it was just a matter of becoming too attached especially after raising preflop. Also, I've been reading Moshman's book on NLHU play, which deals a lot with trying to get to a showdown when you have a reasonable hand. The funny thing is I knew I was probably beaten, though is is the first time I think I've ever gotten really attached to a hand when I knew that i was beaten. As for the second hand, I think my problem in general (especially in heads-up which I started playing frequently) is that I'm generally fine when in an aggr
  3. Yeah I noticed that after posting. But I was in a fit of rage and disregard facts. That's just the nature of bad beats.
  4. The first hand I think was just a case of getting attached to the hand. 7. I'm trying to determine the current equity of each player based on the player's stack size. This is not concerning the EV of a shove or call, just the equity of a player based on their stack size in comparison to the other players and the payout structure. In solving for this, you need to determine the probability of what place each person will be eliminated. The section you quoted referred to the problem that I was able to solve up to the probability of how many times Player A will place 2nd, but my calculations for the probability of placing 3rd is wrong. This makes me appreciate ICM calcul
  8. For a math project at school, I chose the topic of demonstrating how an ICM calculation is done to find tournament equity. This hypothetical tournament is:A: t5000B:t1500C: t2000D: t5000I put these into an ICM calculator to find the answers and solved everything out up until the probability of each player placing 2nd.However, in trying to determine the probability of A placing 3rd, I am having problems. The answer I end up getting is slightly less than the answers of the calculator. Right now, my approach is:(Pr(A 3rd)) = (Pr(B 1st))(Pr(C 2nd))(Pr(A beats D for 3rd)) + (Pr(B 1st))(Pr(D 2nd))
  9. I've never fully understood what is meant by fold equity. Is it referring to the chips you have if you decide to fold, or the added equity to a push from you opponent folding? Also, I did play the hand as described.

Normally it's a pretty easy fold here, but the problem lies in

  12. I agree with the not trying to set mine with 10's. However, if I was trying to narrow the field, what should my preflop raise have been?I'm thinking not betting the turn was my biggest mistake.
  13. Alright, the responses seemed pretty mixed.Preflop: Should I limp in and hope to hit trips/all under-cards on the flop, or should I raise a pretty large amount amount chase out random hands also hoping to catch a cheap flop. If I do raise, what would a sufficient raise be?Flop: So a bet a little over 200 seems about right. I did overbet there.Turn: I'm thinking a bet here might have been the big mistake of this hand. It would have forced him to pay for the draw, which would have been a bad investment. Also, I'm probably ahead of most hands that I was ahead of on the flop. If I'm up agai
