  1. I have never really played limit holdem, I have been successfull at NL. My problem is $300 is not really an appropriate roll for any NL game on party is it. The 25 nl game has .1/.25 blinds and is pretty gay imho
  2. Blinds are 500/1000, your 7x the BB and your above average stack. Its an impossible fold in my opinion. Only way you fold is if he flips over AA or KK before you can make your decision.
  3. This question may be hard to answer due to its general nature, but ill give it a shot. If you were to start with $300 and were to committed to play .5/1.00 till u had $600 to move up to 1/2 how long would it take. I really want to build a bankroll this summer through discipline cuz i usually get up $500 in a few days playing well over my bankroll and eventually bust.So basically how long will it take to move up in levels considering I am playing at limits much smaller than I normally do. Any estimates would be spectacular. Thanks!PS Its gonna be the Pary .5/1 game and I will probably 2 tab
  4. thats what happens when you bet 600 into a roughly 2000 chip pot. You just enabled any draw to call you getting great odds on their money, and your 600 chip bet ensured to them you had the ace and if they hit their draw they would take all your chips. Then you had 2000 chips commited to the pot and u called of 8 or 9 thousand more with a hand you couldn't beat anything aside from a bluff which is very unlikely here or a weak ace.sorry, but you played this hand like a train wreck since it was severely botched an every street. get'em next time.
  5. used to playing PP were fold button is on left. Went to fold 23 UTG and i actually hit the button farthest left as that it what i am used to which is actually the raise button. Ended up losing it all on this hand as the board reads AQT98 try to bluff an unbluffable. Guy jad KT.
  6. Understood. My main point is1. paying for a draw out of position on the turn2. Hitting that Draw3. and then checking it to the bettorMy point is in this particular situation that river card is goin to be a scare card, so many times the guy with top pair isnt gonna get much value in betting. If you made your draw he risks getting check raised, and if you missed your gonna fold. The bet therefore has little value.
  7. Well that is an interesting hand. Your check-call on the flop is somewhat suspicious or I would take it as so. I personally always bet after a raise and when ppl check after raising preflop and they do the good ole check call it usually indicates extreme strength. If I was that guy Id check down the turn and river considering I cant beat much if i have a hand like 97 all i can beat is KQ or KJ since any pair 8s up and the A or J beat me. You certainly read your opponent well as you optimized your quads, but i think you check call on both the flop and turn would lead many ppl to check down
  8. check a made hand which is a certain winner out of position on the river. This is one play which I think costs people an unbelievable amount of money. For example, people love to call flush or straight draws on the turn and they are happy with just checking back to the bettor if they hit it. I find this a terrible play since if u call a bet on the turn a 4 to 1 or so dog when the pot is laying you the proper odds or even when it isnt I think you are obligated to fire a big bet on the river if you make your hand. This is what makes the hitting of draws profitable as the guy with TPTK or two
  9. with the board you certainly are likely up against a big hand. Id bet the at least the pot, maybe even push since it looks like a fishy play.Id check here if you dont like pewker dollars that much.
  10. ive been playing for some time now and i really appreciate the Rookie Rookie rants. thanks. i wish i could turn 1 dollar into 1200. way to go on that.
  11. a wealth of good information in this post on good fundamental play
  12. but countless players in online play as written on in Brunsons supersystems fire out a bet everytime after they raise preflop. When i called the raise he could put me on a number of hands as i raised from the button when it was folded to me. So when the A hit he could of of easily been waiting for a checkraise.Betting on the turn is clearly the problem here as i lost out on a chance to gather important information. If i was called on the turn then he pushed on the river when the 2nd ace hit a fold would have been easy. i would have had suffient information
  13. the fold on the river could certainly be questioned, but my read on this guy was as a passive player. I didnt think he would attempt such a risky play. A simple misread.
  14. i also said in the original post i thought him to be a tight player. I wouldnt put it on a tight player to make a reraise withh 77-TT out of position since hes certainly gonna get a call from the button. Thats why the A on the turn scared me, and that also makes the check i made on the turn even more terrible. I also must say if one of 3 aces left in the deck doesnt hit on the river im dragging a $180 dollar pot.
