I go to Foxwoods fairly often. I like the $40-$100 NL, but sometimes it is exactly like the OP said if you don't raise to at least $15 preflop you aren't taken seriously. Even then you will get a couple of folks who "don't belive you" Important to stay patient there. The good news is you usually get paid off when you have a hand. Thats been my experience there anyway.

I may be visiting the Chicago area in a couple of weeks. What do you mean by the stuff that IL makes the casinos do? What I have noticed in my limited research is the casinos in the greater chicago area seem to have high low limit tables meaning the lowest is either 3/6 or 5/10. Is there any particular reason for this?

How about an FCP tour. We could follow DN around like the Greatful Dead :-) Unfortunately unless I hit the big time like SuitedUp I have already made my trip to Vegas for the year. If anything happens at Foxwoods I am there.

going to vegas, suggestions where to play??
NikolaiPutin replied to JackTheCat's topic in General Poker Forum
I have to reccomend the Excalibur even though it is down the strip a ways the 2-6 spread limit game is exceptionally juicy. I liked the room at Harrah's but I was there for their no limit game, so I can't speak to the 2/4 . The only places I went that spread omaha on a consistent basis were the Orleans 4/8 and the Mirage 5/10. The new room at the MGM is open and I hear it is spreading what you are looking for.Check this link for vegas poker rooom infohttp://www.allvegaspoker.com/index.php -
You have to understand Daniel is from Canada, and they're a bunch of frozen back bacon eatin', beer swillin', tuke wearin' commies up there, eh.

I started feeling better after listening to Mike Caro talk about how if you are a better player you are supposed to get sucked out on and the better you are the more likely it is to happen. By definition if you are a good player you are only entering pots where you have an advantage. So when someone gets lucky and beats you well that's why in spite of the skill factor it is still called gambling. Here is the link.http://www.pokerpages.com/media/mc-pp-ppbr...whyopponets.asxHe has a couple of other free audio clips here toohttp://www.pokerpages.com/interactive/caro-index.htmJust be confident tha

In a word yes. Assume for a moment that either of these has a higher club than a J. They have 2 cards to make 1 of 8 remaining clubs and you have 2 cards to make 1 of 7 for Quads or Jacks full. Though you just might be ahead in the hand now I think the chance that you are going to lose this hand is to great and I would lay it down. Get your money in there when you have a huge advantage. My $0.02,I am anxious to see if anyone agrees with my reasoning.Good luckOh and the point of saying less than a jack was the possibility you could end up playing a Jack high flush on the board and splitting

question about smash's 19 word guide to nl
NikolaiPutin replied to JG8191's topic in General Strategy
I played at the Luxor earlier this month. It is a $50 min/max buy in with a 1/1/2 blind structure (it was common for people to wait for a blind a reload for another $50). Anyway I saw some crazy plays and got sucked out on more than once. For example I had the nut flush on the flop with about $75 in the pot I reraise all in and this guy calls with two pair. Yeah of course he got the boat. Anyway I think playing only premiums is excellent advice under that sort of condition. Just make sure you have the best hand when you go all in and brace yourself you just might get rivered.Good luck. -

:diamonds10: :diamondsj: Nah :hearts2: :clubs9: Thats my final answer.Tell me I am wrong and he had a legitimate made hand. -
I am by no means an expert see disclaimer below. I would be afraid of the board being paired if I was drawing to the nut flush. I have been burned a number of times that way. The thing is does your opponent have the full house? If you don't read him for that I say bet big and represent the boat/flush and maybe he drops out. Or if you think he has it, save your chips for a better situation. So, in summary bet big or fold no middle ground.Disclaimer:Your milage may vary. Offer good at participating locations only. Offer prohibited in states were taxes would apply. Good while supplies last. Not

I was at Foxwoods $1/$2 NL $100 max. I am the big blind and I have pocket aces. this guy in middle position bets $50 into what is only a $3 pot. It gets back to me and I am thinking about throwing away my aces. But he said "How good a hand could I have?" Indeed, I thought and called. I ended up all in and took down a very nice pot. What did he have? :spadesq: :spades7: Yes, he had been drinking. Why do you ask?

Are all the cardrooms in Vegas uber crowded?
NikolaiPutin replied to Big Mike Watters's topic in General Poker Forum
I was just in Vegas (Mar 5-11). Sat right down NLHE $100 min/max about midnight Saturday night at the Excalibur. Never had to wait at the Excalibur for the 2-6 LHE. Longest wait I had was about 20 minutes at the Luxor Friday around 5PM. The list was 3 deep when I signed on and 30 minutes later they had spread 2 more tables of NLHE $50 min/max. I played at the Orleans , Harrahs, and the Golden Nugget too. Might have just been lucky with the seating. I won't get into the bad beat stories... The waits were short and the competition was relatively soft. -

NikolaiPutin replied to compuease's topic in General Poker Forum
Another good site to look at is http://www.allvegaspoker.comThere are cardroom reviews and trip reports that are at the very least interesting to read, and might answer your questions about where to play.Good luck,NikolaiPutin -
