Dude, you can't be serious... Hellmuth? I remember him talking about how he's only been in one fight in his life, and he got his butt kicked by Sam Grizzle! You didn't put TJ in there - he could whup all of them at the same time - even at his age...

Yes, mentioning the loose table would've been useful. Also, I think that your point about play money tables is accurate - however, there are also people that are learning on those tables, so you should expect some additional looseness and occasional wild hands. Is this someone you've played against before? Do you have a feel for the way he plays? It sounds like you've thought this through, and done a good job at that. Slowplaying until the river is not necessarily horrible (although in this case with the flush draw on the board, not the wisest thing). All I am saying is that the check-call play

You are absolutely (no pun intended) right. Normally, I don't let the results bother me - I just focus on the immediate decision at hand given the present information. After making the decision, you have to move on.I don't know why, probably seeing the stone cold nuts with people still betting - it just temporarily ticked me off, which was unusual. That's probably why I posted it here right after - to vent so I didn't tilt at the table...

Yeah. mostly a joke... I probably should have put this post in the bad beat whiner section! Just frustrating to watch it turn into a straight flush with 2 others all in... but I know I made the right play.

Just wondering... because obviously hindsight is 20/20. I'm pretty sure that folding to a raise and reraise is the right play, but the result is aggravating - I could've taken complete control here...PokerStars Game #1509616746: Tournament #6933239, Hold'em No Limit - Level I (10/20) - 2005/04/11 - 23:19:06 (ET) Table '6933239 1' Seat #8 is the button Seat 1: VeroTony (2250 in chips) Seat 2: Mariner17 (1490 in chips) is sitting out Seat 3: Killer888 (1000 in chips) Seat 4: K2Nug1 (1320 in chips) Seat 5: tbdjr (1460 in chips) Seat 6: vyne101 (1340 in chips) Seat 7: Mr.Buffalo5 (1660 in chips) S

Since you were behind him, I'd probably just check the river. For you to win, he's probably got 88, 66, or two big cards. In this case he might fold the river. Even with the 88 he might fold to the bet with overcards on the board. However, the reason I'd check the river is that he appears to be slowplaying a big pair. You didn't post wheter he check-raised you on the river, but if he was slowplaying, that's what he was going for. The only way to prevent this is to check the river. He did cap preflop, so he's got something. He called all along with cards that wouldn't appear to help. He also cou

People who are 40 can still be stupid and insecure. For the record, same goes for 50, 60, 70, etc...Either that, or he was trying to scare the rest of the table, thinking he could pick up cheap blinds. Hopefully, no one fell for it... -
Sometimes people will throw out hands trying to get you to fold, but that doesn't appear to be the case here. He is asking someone else what they have, probably on IM. Since TreffBubi is the only other player in the hand, we could probably assume he is the other colluder. Another interesting thing here is the lack of raises once he hits his full house. it's as if they are trying now to NOT appear to be colluding. Or maybe he is just stupid enough not to reraise with a full house. Did they leave the table shortly after this mistake? It definitely looks like collusion. I'd report it to PP and let

who is the most overrated poker player?
BuzzWorthy replied to DanielNegreanu's topic in Poker Forums
How about the National Heads Up Championship recently?I realize he's arrogant and self-promoting, but you cannot call any WSOP main event champion overrated (maybe Varkonyi, but let's not go there). Not to mention his eight other bracelets... -
The only one I would consider sending a pic would be Daniel Negranue. If he wants one that is. I hear he's single now I dissagree with that way of thinking. By the time you actually realize that others are on to your game you may allready be out of the tournament or lost a considerable amount in a ring game. My advice is to ALWAYS mix up your game. Of course moves like limping in the SB w AK should be done very OCCASIONALLY.---EDIT---LOL, just realised after reading some of the topics here that most of you probably play online. My advice applies to LIVE POKER ONLY fellas. I also realised tha

You got all your money in with a dominating hand, you made the right play... it happens.A majority of the time, however, you will triple up here... so even though it didn't work out this time - it should work out very well for you most of the time. -
Absolutly... I do it occasionally to mix up my play. Keep your opponents guessing, you dont want to be predictable. The good thing about limping with a hand like that is that no-one will put you on it. Of course if you have a lot of limpers you should always protect your AK in the SB and BB; but that rarely happends in NL Hold'em. A good time to make this play is eary on in tournaments. If you get lucky and flop something like AK6 or even A26 you can really punish your opponents for playing hands like A8, A9,A10 and similar. If not then no harm done, worst case you just toss the hand away. This

But you've got no arms...I'll bite you in the kneecap!

Wow, that's truly a bad beat... about the worst I can imagine except for perfect runner-runner for straight flush!Makes me want to cry, and it didn't even happen to me!I once had AA vs. KK and lost when the opponent hit a flush on the river. That hurt, but not as bad as this one. What a roller coaster...
-
Fine... here's your answer - play solid poker. Mathematically, you only get AA once out every 221 hands, so if your opponent wants to make a pre-flop mistake with it, let him. He's only allowing you a chance to draw out on him cheaply. Where the heck do you think all the 'AA bad beat' whining comes from? Also, your OP states that you play KQ - what position? KQ is not a solid hand, unless you are in late position and the pot hasn't been opened (for no-limit). In this case, you should raise. If he re-raises, you know he has something solid, and you should consider getting away from it.Admittedly
-
Getting away from the hand has nothing to do with it. If you're beat, fold. It doesn't matter whether you played properly pre-flop or not. When I say you're in trouble, I mean that by not raising, you allowed a lesser hand a chance to draw out on you. If everyone has limped to you, holding AA in late position, of course you should raise. You are the favorite. You will probably get a lot of calls in limit, but you have the odds in your favor and you're getting more money inthe pot. There is NO point to limping in late position. For example, the flop could come 7-2-8, and you would have no idea w

I think limping with AA is overrated, ESPECIALLY at the low limits. The pros or higher limit players will make this play because they know if anyone else enters the pot, it will be for a raise, allowing them to re-raise, which is what you really want when you are limping with Aces. If you can't re-raise, you you risk losing the huge pre-flop edge of AA without any additional money in the pot. Once the flop hits, anything can happen.I didn't read all the posts, but are you talking limit or no-limit? I think the AA limp, which can be effective in higher-limit games, really shows it's strength in

Their 'job' IS playing games like this... they'll go wherever the money is. Andy's job (NOT being related to poker) requires him to be accountable to others during business hours - I think they can come to Louisiana for $40 million.

Yeah, I have no doubt it was very painful, given the circumstances. I know I'd be circling the deck for days bitchin and moaning...However, I think it would probably be a huge poker growth experience to recognize it for the decent play it was, and not blame it on a bad beat. However, I have to admit I'm not a big fan of slowrolling Kings - too often an Ace appears on the flop, making life miserable. He did get relatively lucky given the circumstances.Just trying to help - and I certainly don't mean to rub salt in your wounds...
-
That's not a bad beat:- he had a better starting hand- his play on the turn is reasonable given that he has an overpair- once he made trips on the turn, he had the nuts. You could only have won if you caught your case 7.

tricky no-limit cash game situation, wwyd?
BuzzWorthy replied to akishore's topic in General Strategy
Since this is still being debated heavily, I think I can still state my opinion even though the results were posted. I would've called. However, what really matters in the end is the result - he had a set of 10's. Only the flush or miracles runner-runner straight or Queen would've saved you. Turns out it was a good laydown after all.You can analyze it all you want, but sometimes it comes down to instinct. turns out yours was right in this case. -

What is the buy-in on the 5-10 no-limit game? Is it a buy-in like some of the 2-5 games in town, where you can only buy in for $200, or is it just a minimum buy-in?I'll be there May 12-15, I'll be sure to stop by and say hi!
