  1. Oddly, this had not occurred to me. My wife kind of detests the thought of camping/backpacking (though she enjoys traveling). I suppose I could maybe get my kids into it. We have a park with a wooded trail near us where I've walked with the girls a couple of times. With three kids under 5 at the moment, it may still be a bit before we're capable of doing very much though. So I guess I could revise my earlier number to...12 years out?
  2. Iceland's great. Wish I'd been able to spend more time there. Also, I'm having some of my students read A Walk in the Woods. I was daydreamingly looking through long trails the other day. I've done about half a dozen backpacking trips...always borrowed equipment. I've been on the AT a fair bit. I ponder hiking the Te Araroa, but I have no idea when I'll find the time in the next 18 years.
  3. I am currently enjoying this Third Month Mania. War Eagle!
  4. For anyone else that's not Napa, unless you're really into film, you can skip The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly. I watched it a few years back for the first time...it's slooooow. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PgAKzmWmuk
  5. Forgot to include Varys?
  6. I always wanted to have a girl more, but I wanted a boy first...if that makes sense. With that said, after spending the past few years raising two girls, the idea of having a boy started feeling very alien to me. Now that he's here, it will progressively feel like this has always been the state of our family. I think this speaks to my general nature...very reluctant to change but quickly embracing it once it happens.
  7. So I'm a father three times over now. My son was born 11 days ago. No chance of catching brvy though...we're done. Looking forward to playing video games with him one day.
  8. I'm looking forward to this season more than any other in a long time.
  9. Weather here has been pretty pleasant lately.
  10. Two of the teachers at my school ride motorcycles to work most days.
  11. Wedding Crashers isn't fit to lick Swinger's wingtip.
  12. So I just GIF responded before because I didn't have much time, but Swingers is absolutely a classic film. It's in the pantheon of break-up films. From a plot standpoint, I get that it seems like not much is happening. It's more of a character study and a satire. I also think it's immensely quotable and probably have most of the movie memorized. I'm guessing I've seen it at least 10 times. I first rented and watched it soon after it was available at Blockbuster. It had the lasting effect of getting me into swing and neo-swing. I loved the music, and I enjoyed taking a dance class. I also w
  13. I did not. He lives up in Philly now, and I'm not sure he's ever practiced personal injury law.
  14. I gave away the BMW years ago when I started needing to transport the chillen. Was the Odyssey that got totaled...probably going to get into a newer one of those.
  15. To the extent of the insurance. It is not my intention to ruin someone's life or their family. Funnily, I hired an old FCPer to represent me.
  16. So I guess I came close to dying or being paralyzed on Wednesday. Was stopped in a line of cars at a light. Got smashed into with the other car going probably 35-40mph. Pushed me into the car in front of me too. The one that hit me and my car are totaled. Fractured my C2. They put a neck brace on me that I'll have to wear constantly until they tell me I can take it off. Fortunately no one else seemed to really be hurt. I also didn't have anyone else in the car, so that's good. Gonna result in a whole bunch of stuff to deal with over the coming months, I guess.
  17. When they had "The Gang Gets Held Hostage" down at 90, I knew I was going to have some serious issues with their ranking. That's a super classic episode in my opinion.
  18. I feel like I have quite a few problems with this list: https://www.vulture.com/article/best-its-always-sunny-in-philadelphia-episodes-ranked.html
  19. I mean, it's right there in the most quoted line...
  20. You're a modern day Ghost of Christmas to his Ebenezer Scrooge. (Just finished A Christmas Carol with one of my students last week. Had never read it before. Dickens is his typically wordy self.)
  21. The only time I go to Chipotle is when someone invites me. There's actually not one very far from where I work, but I prefer Tijuana Flats for my "Mexican" food.
