  1. I've heard tales of these seminars, they seem pretty cool. Where was the one you attended? There's one guy at the place I train who always talks about them. I only hear the periphery since I have know interest in getting into MMA competition - I'm too old. It seems like people like them.
  2. Actually, evidence suggest he was far from an ascetic. This ties in with the whole "humble carpenter" thing that's somehow been attributed to Jesus. Carpenters were not poor people in that era. They were independent tradesmen who were capable of a good living. I don't remember chapter and verse, but you can find reference to "servants" (which in the original Greek is more accurately translated as slaves). Poor people don't have slaves/servants.
  3. Odds are yes. Jesus was Jewish. In those days, a good Jew married and had children. Therefore, since by all accounts Jesus was a good Jew, Jesus married and had children.
  4. It really can't be continued, because it focused on one company that only fought in the ETO. Basically, it followed them from Basic until VE day - with an epilogue of what happened to them later in life.I remember, when I first watched this show. I caught it late, because at first I wasn't interested, but one night my friend lost his cable, and said, "I'm coming over to watch Band of Brothers". I was was hooked. I didn't realize until the finale, that the old guys talking at the beginning and end were the actual soldiers. I have to admit that tears were forming.
  5. It was more a question that my instructor said he'd been asked. I think the night overall, and even what Hughes did, certainly says a lot for BJJ.
  6. I think Gracie was waiting for the bell. Big John decided to step in.It was a big discussion in class tonight. My instructor says that Royce shouldn't have taken that fight at that time. He feels he needed some prep before he tried tangling with Hughes. However, for those who want to use this fight as an excuse to disparage BJJ, look at the results of the entire evening. Most of the fights were won using techniques from BJJ. Even Hughes' victory was through the use of dominant position and the use of BJJ to maintain/gain better BJJ positions.I'm too new at this to argue, but am welcome to
  7. I've got two calls in front of me. UTG isn't going away for anything reasonable. I like the complete. If BB pushes, then I hope for calls. Remember, we have premium drawing hand, not a premium hand. What happens if UTG comes over our raise?Call, and hope to cooperate. I really think that's best with that hand.
  8. If BB is that short, it might be time for a call.
  9. I got my first tap-out tonight.Oh Hell Yeah!
  10. My BJJ instructor says that he "has to go with Royce", because he's a Jiu Jitsu guy. However, he admits that Hughes has improved his Jiu Jitsu,Unfortunately, I agree with the above poster who said it will most likely be three boring rounds and a Hughes decision. Unless Hughes makes a mistake, and Royce can trap him in something I don't see Royce winning. Royce won't submit so we're looking at a decision. The way the UFC is geared, Royce won't get points for holding Hughes in his guard and surviving so the decision will go to Hughes. If this was a no time limit fight, I could see different ou
  11. It's hard to get flush draws to fold at this level. However, your bet was way too small. You're giving better than 2-1 to call. You're making it "correct" to call with the flush draw.
  12. Yuck!If you want to complete there, I don't have a massive problem. However, this is not a raising hand at this stage of the game. Your M is well over 10 and you have no "first in" vigorish. You don't need to go to war here.Okay, assuming the raise, the guy called PF. He's got something. Now a continuation bet, might not be horrible, but any reasonable bet pot commits you. If you're going to C-Bet, you might as well push. If you want to go all-in on a bluff, that's on you.Personally, I don't hate the Tight-Early, push a lot late strategy. I play Turbos because I feel that my edge is in
  13. You'd have to be a much better player than I am to get away from that with your stack size.
  14. Mayweather would give Hatton huge problems.
  15. I finally saw this. Wow! Noah's got issues. For being such an idiot, I hope he ends up in a trailer. As for the deaf guy, he has potential, but I have a feeling that if he runs into a skilled BJJ fighter he's in trouble.
  16. I feel that the late prophet needs his own thread. As an example of his brilliance, I offer the following:“You ever noticed how people who believe in Creationism look really unevolved? You ever noticed that? Eyes real close together, eyebrow ridges, big furry hands and feet. "I believe God created me in one day" Yeah, looks like He rushed it.”Also, for audio samples, please check out:Arizona Bay samples
  17. If you live by yourself, cook in bulk. I like to make things that I can freeze/reheat in a hurry. For example, one Sunday make a Jumbalaya or something, but instead of making a meal's worth, make a week's worth, and freeze the rest. Another week, make something else that holds up to freezing, and make another week's worth. Repeat as necessary...
  18. Yeah I have you big dumb cementhead!Don't you remember dad saying I was taller at the rehearsal dinner? I gave it a pass since I was wearing my Docs and figured they added some. From the kitchen repair pics the're no way you're less than 270...So shut your mouth!BTW, ed1776 is my brother, so I am allowed to flame him with impunity.
  19. It seems that the lines between announcers and commentators are well blurred here.In any event, the best announcers are:Marv Albert (hockey, basketball, NFL) [althought Marv doesn't do all of them anymore]Keith Jackson (College Football)I guess Joe Buck for Baseball (not a huge baseball fan)As for analysts in any sport, John Davidson is the best out there.
  20. I like Woody on "Around the Horn".
  21. The biggest problem is that the government (on both sides) has big problems deciding what "rich" means. If I made 80k a year in rural Tennessee, I'd be doing pretty damn well. If I were making the same money in NYC, or SF - not so much. I know I can't do a damn thing about income taxes due to the abortion that is the 16th Ammendment, but capital gains and estate taxes are fixable.
  22. It really depends on your frame. I'm 6"-6'1", and when I was in the best shape I've ever been in my life, I weighed around 235lbs. However, I'm heavy framed, broad-shouldered, and have heavy, muscular legs. People generally guess that I weigh 25lbs. less than I really do. Currently, I'm at 235 - not in great shape - but I'm working on that. I think I'll be in great condition at around 210-215.Party, I'll repeat my suggestion of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I've been going for 3 weeks, and dropped two sizes on my belt. Beyond that, it's fun. Finally, if you have to exercise, you might as well l
  23. Sorry, but I do. I like easy decisions. If I get only bad cards, I know I'm doing the right thing. Mediocre cards make me make decisions.
