What Is The Most Cash Games You Play Simultaneously?
pbwl11 replied to sven00100's topic in General Strategy
I can do 4 limit tables at once. But only 2 no limit or all of a sudden I'll find myself calling bottom pair against a raise and reraise.... And you should NEVER try to play both types at once..... -

How Do You Learn Aggressiveness?
pbwl11 replied to pbwl11's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
Yes, you're are probably right. I know I'm a weak player, and accept that fact. No limit is a whole new beast to me. Actually, LHE is the game I'm best at. I just thought I'd take the free $5 I recieved from Pokerstars and see if I could do anything playing no liimit, and if Ilost it--no big deal since it was free money. Not to say that I'm not as competitive even though it's free, so I'd like to get better and learn as I go. The problem is that it's only $5 (well, $9.50 now), just .01/.02nl, and I don't really want to lose 1/3 of my bankroll on a crapshoot where I have no idea where I am in a -
How Do You Learn Aggressiveness?

Let me give an example of what I'm facing at the micro tables:Say I'm in the big blind with K 10 off. Flop comes 10 6 2 rainbow. There's .08 in the pot.I bet .06 with top pair good kicker, it gets folded around to the btn who instashoves for like $1.42!!!How am I supposed to call that, even if I know he's bluffing 98% of the time? This happens all too often at this level, and I find myself just waiting for the nuts to trap these players, but in the process I'm missing out on alot of hands that I would have won that could pad my stack? How do you counter those kind of players? -

I purchase Professional No Limit Holdem by Ed Miller a week ago. It has some almost easy to understand, sound, fundamental ideas about how to play winning poker (IE: stack to pot ratios, REM process for different hands played, short, middle and deep stack playing, etc). How useful would some of those concepts be at the .01/.02 level I'm starting at where 99% of the players wouldn't have a clue about that stuff? Or should I just continue playing ABC poker and nut peddle til I build my bankroll up more?Is there a book on micro stakes that I can get that would help me along til I get to the point -
Ive decided to take the free $5 I got from Pokerstars a few weeks ago and try to build a bankroll playing just no limit, aka the Chris Ferguson Method...I've had some early success playing .01/.02nl tables, caught some nice hands and won a few nice pots to roll it up to about $13 after about 3500 hands played, before variance set in and knocked me back down to about $8. lolMy question is: How does one learn to play more aggressive, bluff more, read opponents betting patterns, steal blinds, etc?I know not a having a huge bankroll to begin with is a factor, since I play a single table (talk abou

I'm using the free $5 I got from Pokerstars March 1st and grinding the .01/.02 nl table....After 3200 hands played I'm up to $12.75....

Not to try to hijack the thread, but I'm trying the same thing with the $5 I got free from Pokerstars this month...Started March 1st playing .01/.02 nl. Just playing at a single table mind you, trying to stay in the correct bankroll management mode, if there even is one when you only have 5 bucks to play with. lol. But you wanna talk about BORING.....I've played an hour or two 3 or 4 days a week and I'm at about 3200 hands.I'm up to a whopping $12.75!!! Not sure what my real goal is. Just to try to get the bankroll as high as I can get while learning as much as I can along the way I guess.Wi

So if I spend a day on the strip, where's the best play to play? I've heard Imperial Palace and the MGM Grand are easy pickings on the weekends. Any other places I should target? But not Excalibur, cus I don't think I'd like that electronic gaming thing.Anyone been to the extreme rides on the Stratosphere? How sick are they?

I tried the reviews on allvegaspoker.com website, but that hasn't been updated since July of 2008, so I don't know how relevant that info is nowadays. Is there another website I can check out?Do most of the poker rooms allow Ipods? I swear my B&M here must be the last place that has a rule against them. What's the best place to get good comps for a 5 day trip?Where's the best room to go to go poker star sightseeing? How tacful would it be to go up and ask for an autograph or pic if they're not in a hand, if you can get close to them at all?

I'm headed to Vegas April 16-20 for the bowling tourney staying downtown and looking for some nice, soft, fishy games. I'm looking to play either 1/2nl or 2/4 3/6 lhe.I'd like to go to the Golden Nugget cus I've heard that's soft, but I'm not sure about the no max rule at the 1/2 game. I don't want to buy in for $300 and be facing $3000 stacks! lol. What about the Plaza, Fitz's or Binions? I may take a trip out to the strip for a day too. What's beatable out there? Thanks in advance for the advice!

Live 3/6 limit game. Lady is a relative newcomer to the game, 2nd or 3rd visit but has been at the table for a few hours when this hand came up:Flop: A A 8 (suits don't matter)Lady utg bets. Player 2 raises. Lady calls.Turn: KLady bets. P2 raises. Lady callsRiver: 5Lady bets. P2 raises. Lady calls.P2 shows pocket 8s for 8s full.Lady shows A A for quads. We all sit there in a stunned silence for a few seconds then ask why she never reraised the whole hand....."I thought you were only allowed to raise once?" -
Is It A New Fad, Or Just Being Stupid?
pbwl11 replied to DeVelaine's topic in Other Poker Cash Games
I'll admit that I do tend to limp in with AA or KK. but it's only when I'm in the blinds. All the regulars at the B&M I play with know I'm a tight solid player, and when I raised out of the blinds, they knew I had something big, and fold to my bets, so I took to limping in the blinds, then betting or check raising on the flop.I know it's losing money this way, but it happens so rarely that I can change my play and try to catch them off guard.Although now when they see me check the blind, they get suspicious if I bet out...... -
April 2004. I'm in Reno for a bowling tournament. Had seen a little poker on TV, no real clue about what I was doing, what hands to play, etc.Went to the Cal Neva and sat at a 1/2 limit game about noon with $100 and played virtually every hand I was dealt.... Next thing I know it's midnight and I had donked up a $125 win! Been hooked every since!

Do you know the author of the book? I'd be interested in giving it a look.I've noticed, however, that as I've gotten better at this game, the poker gods aren't as generous to me with the 2 and 3 outers as they were when I first started playing! lolI'll try to use that advice once or twice when I play this Saturday. Seems I can never hit the hands I need, but the donks are getting slapped upside the head with the deck! Aggravating.....

Interesting idea with the raising with junk EP.I'm one of the 'regulars' at the B&M since I only play on Saturday mornings, there's usually only one game going at my limit, and we know each other's games pretty well. We do have a nice social game going on for the most part, always talking about work/families, etc.I do have the reputation for playing tight solid poker, so they know if I'm in a hand I got something.Don't know about the straddle thing though. Don't like giving money away blind. Maybe raising utg with suited connectors that have a chance at becoming something huge instead.....
