Not an Ali G thread. Is there any kind of travel case that I can put my desktop computer/monitors in so the don't get banged up? I'm moving away in about a month, and I have to drive to my destination. If nothing exists (couldn't find anything on google...), does anyone have any suggestions on what to carry my desktop + 2 monitors (17" LCD) in? I threw out the boxes I got them in and don't have any styrofoam lying around, though maybe there's somewhere I can get that stuff. If this belongs in another forum, let me know.
  2. In live games, where you have an edge on your opponents, obviously the deeper stack is better. I've heard 5/10 live games play much more like 10/20 for this reason.
  3. It's ok if you can fold to a raise I guess. The fact hat he bet into 2 opponents on the turn is a bit iffy, but what can ya do. Oh, I know, fold pf .
  4. Obviously you don't....If you don't know the board, you can't gauge how good your hand is postflop. Like I said earlier, this is more of a consideration in limit since in nl, you can just play the odds pf by pushing any time you have an edge. Youre folding A2 vs QJ? I guess youre talking about nl anyway, in which this poll is really no contest. With A2 vs QJ, you push pf. With any 2 carsd that your opponent cannot call, you push pf. And when he has somehting he will call with that beats you, you fold. But what about limit? The rules change a lot because you are going to have to play 3 po
  5. Live NL games often play bigger. That's still the case today. Plus Doyle had a wild style and it was usually to his benefit to have the table covered.
  6. Easy call. Especially since you won't really have to put any $$ in on the river.
  7. LOL. Double my winrate!
  8. I understand your concern for not getting too predictable, and rightfully so. 2 things though:1) It's not something you have to worry about at these limits, but it is good too practice it now2) You should still tend to try to get more money in the pot with stronger hands than weaker ones. What that means is that if $5 is your normal continuation bet, you can occassionally bet this much with your stronger hands, but you should usually bet more. Similarly, you can occassionally throw in a larger, near pot-size bet with a hand that whiffed. It will get you more money in the long run. Also, I t
  9. There are a lot of people that live lives of pain that have it great, and vice versa. Anyway, people have to learn from themselves to appreciate life. If they have nothing but misery (or choose to see things that way), well that is their bad luck. They can keep up the struggle and hope things pan out, try to find a better alternative, or kill themselves if they can't cope. Sounds harsh, but that's life.As for the latter, that it why we have created laws, prisons, etc.
  10. We should put odds on whether or not armageddon happens in the next year. I will lay anyone 1000:1.
  11. I would have bet a little over 1/2 pot on the turn. River is a fold. Yeah. No way you are good here 1 in 2.5 times. I think most pocket pairs check the river trying to see a cheap showdown since youre turn check looks a lot like an Ax hand.
  12. Bluff?I see 2 blocking bets...Alpha, given that this guy called a decent raise pf, he will probably call a good size flop bet as well. Bet somewhere between 0.8 - 1.1 size the pot.I really don't see anything wrong with the turn/river, but I would probably make my bets a little smaller (say 1/2 on the turn, and 1/3 on the river.
  13. 1) My usual standards are:-Raise ATo from anywhere-Raise A9o from hijack-Raise A7o from cutofff-Raise A2o from button2) Raise/fold, though open limping is correct in rare circumstances3) Acehud. VPIP/PFR/AF, and usually include WTSD numbers too.
  14. Strange that you will accept nothing but absolute proof in this case to override your faith, yet there is such a lack of proof supporting it.Anyway, if "majority rules" was the best way to go about things, we would have never progressed to where we are today. Hell, we would probably still be living in trees...
  15. Are you saying that if it wasn't for your belief in consequences for you actions in the afterlife, you would go on a murderous rampage?Anyway, there are consequences in this life, that's why we have laws. If you kill somebody, chances are you will either be killed yourself, or end up rotting away in prison. This is neither good for the believer nor the atheist (although some believers don't mind the death part, and would actually be discouraged in killing if they believed nothing awaited them afterwards). We do assign a high value to life. Maybe not as much as it should be, but we do. Eng
  16. And I say the onus is on the people who put forth a theory to back it up with "real" evidence, or logically correct arguements. Else we get into those silly invisible unicorn arugments.
  17. I have never said we have no "soul". I don't know. I certainly feel moral obligations, but that isn't a proof that god exists. You don't have to be religious to have a strong sense of morals. If there is no after life, doesn't that mean that a life is extremely valuable? If this is it, ending someones time prematurely is denying them one of the most precious things concious beings are given - that is tools that enable us to sense and interact with the things around us. So to answer your question, it is obviously immoral. Being the most concious beings on the planet (the ones with the high
  18. Haha, never! You just don't win. :)I agree that not all things intelligent people believe are true, as almost nothing we know now will be true in 1000 years (even though they won't be true, most will be the foundations on which the new truths have refined). However, intelligence ideas are usually more correct than "majority" ideas, even though majority is sometimes right, and intillegent is sometimes wrong.
  19. JULY UPDATERan at 8.45PTBB/100 at 600nl on stars over 6300 hands for a total of $6500. I can't wait ofr exams and my limit addiction to end. :)Oh, and I ran at about 0.4BB/100 at limit 15/30 and 20/40 (5500 hands) .Oh well, Im probalby not giong to get any more hands in before my exams end, so this is likely my July totals.
  20. I'm guessing the thread wiht DN was given a higher priority.Anyway, if the term faggot is so durrogatory, shouldn't the profanity filter censor it?
  21. Majority rules has always bothered meShouldn't it be "Intelligence rules" or "Stupidity loses" or something along those lines?
  22. Hahaha, I could have been cranky and hungover that day but I doubt it.With regards to the H2O thing, that's true. You may be right. But you're probably not. "Truths" we discover like water = H2O, come as our civilization progresses. These things wouldn't be understood by earlier civilizations because they never had the same train of thought, the technology, or the exposure to ideas that we have today. God on the other hand, is a more ancient idea created by ancient civilizations. As civilazation advances, the idea of god is becoming more and more less believable. Science moves in one di
