Just as others have stated, slow playing has its places. Overall though, I think you end up losing value out of real strong hands. They either have something or they don't. If they called your PF raise, then they may have a playable hand that they want to at least see the turn with so most of the time betting is just sensible play here. Perhaps if you hit something like a FH on the flop, bet something like a 2/3rds type bet and get called, a turn check might get someone to put some more money into the pot that they may otherwise not. It really depends on your opponent and what is on the board

How much would you have ended up paying a deep stack before giving up this hand? With the 20-40 bb shortacks, you are probably paying off most of it to a big stack before you fold it anyway.

Pre Flop Playing For Stacks Range
00timh replied to StilettoNole's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
Without a specific read I would fold AQ. Now you are looking at 4 bets here. Who without a read do you feel that you are beating? At best you are racing and that range is getting mightly low with basically only JJ MAYBE TT. You are catching a break if you spike an ace against QQ or KK but you are a 70% dog to do so. Reads make everything here as does stack sizes. If a shorty is on tilt and you know he will make this move on a mid pair and down to AT or KQs or if it is a big stack constantly abusing with 3 bets then with AQ I would rather be the one coming OTT (which I have done before) I doub -
Hey, you bet or say call 23s in the BB and the flop is 259 and Villian bets and you call and keep calling to the river on a rag board, it is mega tilt for AK lol. In a way it is the same sort of deal with someone who feels they are racing AK/AQ with 22 but they run into AA but suck out. Getting sucked out with KK against your AA doesn't feel so bad but in reality it is the same suck out (we all know this)If you think you can outplay someone with rags, then it really doesn't matter what rags you have. You might as well play the lowest two. Then show it lol. Let them know just how bad they reall

Zomg! Deep Stack Quadzilla!

I say lead out and a good 3/4ths size bet. If Villian has anything at all they will at least call. They will think you are on some sort of pair and are trying to take it down right there. Any big ace will at least call this and if you are lucky enough to run into K's or A's you will get their entire stack. -
Raise it? NL cash game... not unless you feel you can get someone to put in some money and out play them because you have a ninja read on them, then it doesn't matter what hand you play. If I am in the BB and the sb does a donk min raise and there is no one else in the pot, I probably call this. Otherwise it gets tossed.

Check These Out- Second Nuts
00timh replied to StilettoNole's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
I am not feeling to happy in your spot about th 1st hand. Read dependent perhaps. I do understand about how there are a lot of players at NL.25 who will shove a set or even 2pair here. Hold my breath and call? I would almost expect to lose here even though this is NL.25. Villian was just so eager to get it in and you do have the worst of the straight. Second hand. I would consider folding this. read dependent again, at best it is a split.3rd hand I could never get away from. -
One of the rare times I fold this. Villian is not a lag, you are not a lag either and oop. You could take a flop I suppose but with Villian having a pfr of 11 and eagerly looking to get it all in on the flop, the worst this guy will have is QQ. Racing one hand, behind the other two.

I like the 3-bet PF myself. OOP anyways but you can really set the price here and have good control over this hand. Villian will have to have a real hand here to keep playing. As played, I actually would have just laid it down. You really have no idea where you are at in this hand unless you have gotten a really good read on the c-bets. You can figure you will probably have to call a value bet on the river and would have to laydown a more aggressive bet. If you really feel there is a good chance you are ahead here a light ck raise on the turn would be a great move.

Good point here Money. The line here is fine IF you are looking for someone to get their money in but then when they do it is like OOPS... I know the plan was to get a bet off by check raising but since that didn't happen do we then give Villian credit? Still though, I do think JJ was the hand villian had. I don't see the remaining 30 just being a bluff or a lesser hand thinking they are good. , I think Villian just felt he wanted to make sure all of it got in the pot and that was the sure way to do it.

Even though you have the K high flush draw, I wonder if that is the hand you don't want to make. You would probably have to go for it if you got it, and I don't see AQ here just calling, I don't see a set doing that either. That is a hard spot. Do you think a shove on the turn could take it down here? Hard to think you are actually beat here with the way it played out. I am not a big fan of shoving a hand like this but it sort of looks like you are a sitting duck against two.

Great advice and something I have come to learn myself. TAGS at a LAG table are so easy to read, and I have been one. So long as you are giving them correct odds without punsishing them on the turn after they have put some money into the pot they will eventually rip you. It is the nature of the game when you have opponents who will gladly take it to the river without the lock. You are going to have to up the ante with these guys a bit. Just like the guy asked "do you have a set" He didn't mind playing against you if you did. Get them off their game with some 3-betting PF. showing a ch raise or
