I probably should have provided some context. I was getting bored trying to beat the ever-so-tough 4/8LHE game, so me and the 9 seat decided that, every non-showdown hand that we won, the other would get to show one card. And it also allowed me to get max value because I was HU against J9ss. Too bad it came Q T

So I wander on over to a local Pub and Casino where a 4/8 LHE game is running. I jump into the game, and most players there know me as a TAG player who likes to open raise lightly from LP. That being said, many of the players in this game are unaware and apathetic toward table image, etc. (level 1 thinkers). About an hour into my session, I raise KJcc unopened from the c/o. The button folds over to the SB who is a bit of a joker. He starts muttering something to the BB, and the BB, who I have seen 3 barrel bluff but has not gotten too out of line, holds up his cards as if to show the SB. The S

I like to do the lead like 1/3 pot then lead bout 1/3-1/4 pot on the turn hoping to get bluff-raised or raised with Ax. If I do get raised on the turn, I usually like to try to get it in depending on the stack sizes. I am not an advocate of c/calling turn then checking river, as the villain may try to show down A-rag cheaply. My line would be lead, lead/ 3-bet, lead. In a looooooose 3/6 game, I am usually playing these hands fast, as players fall in love and get married to 3 aces.

I knew it was a call, but my friend was trying to convince me to not gamble that early in the MTT with such a coordinated flop. Villain tables AQhh. Turn X. River A. Sigh.

Sorry for the lack of conversion, but I had a friend who was playing e-mail the HH to me, and he didn't send the entire hand. Anyways, this was early in the nightly 12:00am $10k guaranteed. The villain had been playing TAG, but I didn't have any particular hands to note. I know it is a marginal spot obv, but I'm not sure if it's a call. I got this feeling because I did not think he was a very good player. In other words, a flat call would not look suspicious to him. He was hungry for some bounties and I knew he would try to scoop-a-loop my overcall my 4-betting AI. I know you're not supposed to post results on here, but I opted to min. raise without a plan. If he comes over the top, I probably would have folded about 80% of the time. Of course he 5-bets with 99!!!! I throw up all over my laptop and muck. Shover had JJ, flop Q high. Puke. I think if I get in this spot again, I muck. Just a difficult spot.

Let Me Have It. Flopped Straight And Bet Weak
little punish replied to Canute's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
At least you know that you screwed this one up pretty badly. Villain's overbet on this coordinated flop looks like 2-pair most of the time. Make it $7. If he calls, you can shove any turn for a little less than the pot. That will make your turn decision much easier and not leave you with determining the amount to bet to max. riv value.Leading the flop would be better. Then you can 3-bet AI. -
Like I said, I was only trying to discuss my river decision. As is evident, there is 0 value in raising the river. I don't think he is pot-betting a worse ace hardly ever because I did not c-bet the flop or the turn. My hand looks like a big ace.Copernicus: Would you be raising to 120 p/f?

Most of the time, I am not even raising this turn. And I am almost never capping this turn or raising the river if I do not fill up. I'm not sure he's getting this aggressive with a dry queen IMO.

Hand #1 - Correct call, especially given your stack size and the price. His range is almost any two.Hand #2 - I HATE the call on the river. What can you beat? It looks like a Q with either the Kd or Ad trying really hard to milk. His p/f call for 1/3 of his chips scares me. Unless he is super passive, this should signal a warning sign. If this were me, I close my eyes and put him in on the flop, which is about the size of the pot, especially with the Jd.As played, never EVER am I calling this river. Might just be me.Hand #3 - Tough spot. A read on MP or CO would be nice. But without reads, I p

Hey gfdsa...You did the math correctly. If he is beat, he is around 8-9%. But you have to consider the villain's range. It also includes a 4, a 3, or a SC bluff. That being said, he has to be best here around 16% of the time to be profitable. Given the Hero's "range", CALL. Messed it up p/f though. Just trying to set gfdsa straight.Moral of the story: Don't take advice from Clonie Gowen!
