Odd Tournament Question -- Away Players
Danny Dingleberry replied to hblask's topic in Tournament Play
haha... make a deal... tell him he can steal half the blinds and you take the other. -
haha... now that you mention it, it is quite funny.

i've never understood the whole taxation thing on being a professional gambler...does that mean you get to add travel and accomodation costs as tax-deductible.

Early In A $4.40... Ak Facing A Big All In An
Danny Dingleberry replied to Cappy37's topic in Tournament Play
the best situation you're getting your money in is against two weaker aces. if you're up against one weaker ace/or king and a pocket pair then it's 3:7 odds for 1:1.5 pot odds. it doesn't matter if they're donkeys, this is going to be a -EV play nearly all of the time. -
To Raise Or Not To Raise
Danny Dingleberry replied to Naismith's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
because he's a tight player and is too scared to gamble much? I dunno. I don't like raising with the hope of getting called and not reraised. if you're scared of the boat then why not just call? you might miss an opportunity to make some value but at least you'll have a result and won't shut your self out of the pot. but then again i wouldn't worry. I'd raise and if I get raised I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. -
i'm happy to check it down with just the low and the massive draw for equity reasons. obviously if I made my hand I would have to try and value it. if I knew the short stack was going then it wouldn't bother me. but if a player wants to take a stab at the pot or bet at it when I'm obviously checking a hand down for equity when in other situations I would bet.. then I'd just keep raising and raising him... that's generally my rule in all forms of tourney poker though. so i'd basically do exactly what you did in that situation.
-
that crossed my mind, but the hero has the ace of spades, so the reraise on preflop would have to be KQs, which is very unlikely.
-
nah, given that re raise i don't give him credit for 99 at all, and would much quicker give him credit for AA. he might have kings and be trying to represent your hand. who knows? you do, so PM me and tell me!!!
-
I had a set of aces against AK a few weeks ago, now that you mention it... hahaha.they made a flush too... haha. but yeah, I'm dying to know, could you message me the results? I'm puttng them on AA or a bluff/semi-bluff.

Quick Bankroll Question
Danny Dingleberry replied to AimHigher's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
get a cash loan for however much you need. don't worry, you'll double your money, honest. -
bluff it. betting out at a 4 card to a straight board hardly gets action unless someone else actually does have the straight.
-
I agree... unless it was AK and a continuation bet and free card... either way i think it was a good fold.
-
with such a big re raise you'd think the only hand you'd realistically be behind is AA... i dunno. weird spot. i'd probably only fold if I put my opponent on AA. it's quite a large re raise though. he could be gambling with a suited king... but it wouldn' t make much sesne to reraise with KQ... i dunno. wanna pm me the results
-
what are you beating if he comes back over the top pre flop? Ace 8???

Semi-interesting Spot With Qq In $22 1r/1a
Danny Dingleberry replied to mk's topic in Tournament Play
i'd fold. best situation is a coinflip. I don't like it. who cares what you've already got in the pot. -
'maybe' a check raise on the flop... and i'm saying this even though i hate check raising and overplaying pocket pairs... if you bet out he could have raised you as a continuation bet anyway... if you check raise him you might be putting some pressure on him if he has AK.. and if he does have AK then he got a free card and improved. in saying thati probably wouldn't have done it and played it similar... i might have bet out on the flop though, that's all.
-
tiny tiny tiny suited connectors for 10 percent of your stack.... PRE FLOP FOLD.
-
well that was alright then...still, if I thought i was up against a big pocket pair and if I knew my opponent was actually capable of folding a pocket pair of aces or kings I would just call... simply because it gives you a good bluffing opportunity if a 10, 7, or Q falls.

Early In A $4.40... Ak Facing A Big All In An
Danny Dingleberry replied to Cappy37's topic in Tournament Play
NO! it's not a coinflip!!! don't be silly! there's THREE in the pot. if you beat UTG, but MP beats you, you're only gonna come out with 1220 in chips. if you beat MP, but UTG beats you, well, you're out. if you beat both of them, then you'll be up to what, 2600 or so. now, you've got AK, let's be smart here. if you're up against a pocket pair here, you're in bad shape. if you're up aces or kings, you're in very very bad shape. if someone else is holding an ace or king, you're also in bad shape, ESPECIALLY against another pocket pair. if you're in the pot with someone else with an AK against a -
q8, the q stands for quality starting hand.

why do you suck out on the river with small pocket pairs?!?! are you raising to the river or calling??? I don't mind if you're raising and suck out... but if you're calling... ick... gross. -
To Raise Or Not To Raise

seems like he's missed his spade draw and is betting the river as you showed weakness on the turn... -
Double Feature (fr) (2/5)
Danny Dingleberry replied to CobaltBlue's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
maybe I would have reraised the queens pre-flop... depending on how i felt about the yankees fan... no one really likes to flat call with aces or kings so if that's what he's got he'll probably let you know right then and there... -
