  1. in my opinion, a good player would not call that re-raise pre-flop with hearts....i would put him on a 10 1st, flush second. Of course i could make a better decision if i had seen the guy play. And what you say is "standard" is exactly what a good player is trying to avoid. Betting the 10 on the river, hoping for the jack to think he is bluffing or a flush draw calling or even a straight draw calling is common. No one thinks someone spiking two cards on the flop to make trips will lead out, and i love it when it happens to me and i get paid off immensely by donkeys who think "you have to check
  2. i feel as if he hit the straight...no reason for him to call with 2 clubs on the flop unless he had an ace with a weak kicker...which is why you should always raise with your good hands
  3. definitel a flush...nothing you can do...sometimes i like to force the blinds to fold pre-flop or even post-flop and try to get something like top pair weak kicker to call to try and get the draws out of there, but thats also how you get burned by sets.negreanu says to play small ball and try to get full value out of those kings, but in doing so you also have to be able to tell when someone has picked up a better hand.
  4. this is an insta push...unless im seeing a flush draw that hit that i didnt see when i raised this is a sitution where i feel comfortable betting all my chips, and my goal is to get all in. Especially if someone is short stacked
  5. wow, i didnt even rread the following threads and i just saw you say he had J9 just as i predicted. So either options of calling to make a move on the river or smooth call, or re-raise him to force him to either go all in or commit his chips by calling would be the right way to get paid off. I can almost never fold a set unless its obvious someone has a flush or a straight. If i am wear of a players skills i just like to smooth call and play small ball.
  6. well, i haevnt read any other replies my heres my opinion as i have seen this situation often.A tight older gentleman will normally check their top pair on the flop if they dont have a kicker to raise with. Most likely he had top pair with a low kicker, second top pair using the tight image to force a fold, or he spiked two pair on the turn.If there are no flush draws and it doesnt seem as if anyone is drawing to a straight, I would go ahead and either try to control the pot size by just calling hoping he will make a small bet on the river giving you good odds to call, or he might even check h
