I agree with Toxic, I would have check/called instead of check/folded on the river. If there's a raise and a re-raise, that's different, but there was only a bet and no one had shown any strength.Up until the river I think you played the hand just fine.

ivey winning his 5th bracelet adds weight

emineric, you arrogant prick, just because that's how you feel doesn't mean that's how everyone else feels. I make a very good living and an extra million dollars would be really nice. However, I can survive without it and I still won't need to worry about money.I would honestly go for the $100 million, giving myself a 25% chance of succeeding (assuming we get to use my blind structures, fast, and no limit). What a retarded statement. I believe the basis for the OP question was assuming everyone was based on greed. So you're saying that if you were offered $1 million or $2 million, you'd take -
Hey guys,I've never played in any tournament except for hold'em (limit, no-limit and pot limit) and omaha eights or better (limit and pot limit). However, I would like to hose a HORSE tournament at my weekly home game. I was hoping that you all could help clarify the rules for me :)As I understand it, you play one hand of "H", then one hand of "O", etc and keep rotating. Is that correct?Ok, now is this what each letter stands for?H: Texas Hold'emO: OmahaR: RazzS: Seven Card StudE: Omaha Eights or BetterAnd if so, am I correct to assume that the following better structures are used?Texas Hold

greg raymer and 2000 people live events
Azzy666 replied to jrbrown1548's topic in General Poker Forum
Note: Harrington made lots of plays like this, I was just providing one example. In general, yes, he plays very tight. However, that tight image is what allows him to pull off some of these monster bluffs! -

just watch the 2004 final table and you will see that. We all know that he's very tight. But he would not be successful at that level (especially now), if he did not pull off bluffs as well. The guy knows when to exploit his table image for all its worth. That's the mark of a good player.A quick example for those unenlightened:~8 people left in the 2004 main event with blinds of $40,000/$80,000 and a $10,000 ante, the table looks something like this:SB: Glenn Hughes — $1,800,000BB: David Williams — $2,000,000UTG: Josh Arieh — $3,200,000Al Krux — $2,000,000Greg "Fossilman" Raymer — $7,250,000 -
He's glad because he doesn't have Phil Ivey on his fantasy team and figures he'll move up in the standings as a result
-
Note that if after 5k hands you're winning 5 bb/100, it's probably safe to move up. However, if you're only at 2-3 bb/100, finish playing a full 10k hands.Regardless, don't forget about bankroll management - always have 300 bb in your bankroll no matter what limit you're playing at!
-
Daniel did not slowroll. A slowroll occurs after the hand is over and you're showing your cards. If Daniel knew right away that he was calling, what he did was still unclassy. However, he was probably just running through the hand in his head to double-check that his opponent wasn't on trips or 2 pair....

ok, yeah, yeah, yeah.... like everyone's said, 1/2 is still rediculously easy to beat and players still suck. I'm just saying that I DID notice a difference when I first went from 0.50/1 to 1/2. Although, as has already been mentioned, I didn't start noticing any decent skill increase until 3/6...
-
Let me just make sure he doesn't misunderstand you here.... you can squeeze by with a BUY IN of 6 big bets on each table, although I'd personally recommend you don't do that....Your bankroll still needs to be 200 bb
-
The variance is slightly lower in those games (because of a lot of split pots) so 200 bb is sufficient. The 300 bb rule is specifically for limit texas hold'em. Each game is slightly different....

Do you SERIOUSLY think that the random number generator on UB is flawed? If so, you're kidding yourself. It's rediculously easy to program a random number generator so I find it highly unlikely that UB made a mistake. As for doign it on purpose, I don't think they'd take that risk since they're pulling in millions in rake - why risk it? What do they gain by that? Think logically...By taking your money out, that's like calling a gutshot draw with only 3:1 pot odds just because you missed the gutshot the last 10 times you tried for it and feel you're "due"... HA!
-
Yes, they are a little tighter, but not much tighter. The bigger differnce is that the post-flop play at $1/$2 is significantly better. People don't chase gutshot straight draws or backdoor flushes nearly as often.3-tabling $0.50/$1 is going to be more profitable than 1-tabling $1/$2. However, 3-tabling $1/$2 is going to be more profitable than 3-tabling $0.50/$1, assuming you can beat the game which you really should be able to since you're coming here and reading strategy 8)

Well, you could have avoided it by reraising him on the flop when you KNEW you were ahead. The was a flush possibility on the turn and that's when you decided to bet big.... just my 2 cents...

There was a live chat with Gus Hanson on cardplayer.com yesterday and he was pointedly asked if he was in debt. He says he isn't.I believe him. He was very truthful throughout the entire interview. He admitted that he's been broke in the past and that he got beat up in the big game, but says that he isn't broke at the moment.

I play spades from time to time.... really fun game! I'm known as "Mr. Nil" 8) My highlight was basically being forced to call a blind nil. I picked up my hand and saw QJxxx of spades, yet managed to successfully pull off my nil!!!!

benhoug, what you are talking about is dipping more into the super-aggressive strategies. Super-aggressive people see 40% of flops instead of 20-25% of flops. Most of the time the extra calls come when they are in late position with those kind of hands. So yeah, some people play them semi-regularly. However, you have to be very careful and have excellent post-flop play as you're going to be faced with much more difficult decisions.Let's say you have the 6 7 and the flop comes down as 2 6 Q . What do you do? You've hit your pair and, unless someone out there has a queen, probably have the

Royal, you crack me up As everyone else says, it depends on your read. With no read, I'd push all in because I figure if he has a better hand than me, he wouldn't have bet so much but would have tried to milk the pot instead...
-
Oh yeah, and both the things that you mentioned will cause them to become dead.To further clarify talking about your cards, you're allowed to say "I have a pretty strong hand here, I wouldn't recommend calling" or "Be careful, I may have rockets". However, you can't say "I have jack-ten of hearts, so don't call."
-
Your cards can't touch any other cards in play. This is why players use card protectors - to prevent the dealer accidentally sweeping them up.

On my first day, I bought into a $0.50/$1.00 (the lowest limit) game on Party Poker with $25 of my $50 bankroll and made $25 within 2 hours. The next day I lost $15 in an hour and almost quit

Man, I wish I were in western Ontario. I live in Ottawa and the closest casino to here is down in New York an hour and a half away :(Well, there's a casino 20 minutes away in Hull, but they don't have poker. Seriously, what casino doesn't have poker these days? They're losing soooooo much money by not running a poker room there!
