  1. On the turn I was trying to find out where I was in the hand with the additional option of getting a free showdown (that I didn't take) if he checked. The free showdown play worked, but for whatever reason I decided that he they just didn't feel all that strong (albeit I wasn't either) so I put in a value bet hoping to get less than top pairs to call. Many of the hands at this table since I had sat down had been either bet then fold on the flop or it would go to the river with someone getting paid off by a weak pair.

  3. Hi guys. I'm just getting back into poker after a 7 month break. Coming back re-focused has been a help as I really feel like I am playing a lot better than I ever have (not much to say at all). I had a lot of problems taking .05/.10 games on with real focus and have not had very gratifying success. I win at .05/.10 the majority of the time, but I am trying out .10/.25 out because A) the stakes are bigger and I just feel like I have a lot more fun playing for money that is just something I can be a bit more proud about after a winning session and B) I am trying to unlock some of my bonus from
  4. Only people who haven't read the whole thread and upon reading the whole thing feel like a moron.
  5. I was playing in a tournament today that made me wonder about open shoving ranges. Four times today in a 2.25 180 man SNG on FT I saw open shoves of 18+big blinds (2 from early position, 1 from middle, 1 from the CO). The open-shoves were called 3 times (the 2 from EP and the 1 from MP) and every player that had open shoved showed a middle pair (twice 77 and once 88). Is this a legit strategy? I've always read/heard that you want to get in cheaply with middle pairs and get your money in when you flop a set/ hit a good flop. I was just wondering what the consensus is going to be on open shoving

How do you approach this situation? I figured that I was up against maybe a combo of two pair, the spade Ace/king, another set, and of course a flu
  8. Nothing puts me in the mood to play poker like massive amounts of techno.
  9. Is it because I'd be shutting out hands that I can beat and only getting called by an ace and probably KK? I'm still trying to pick up this whole limit game.
  10. We both had around 10 dollars at the time.FWIW Thanks for all of the analysis guys. I've read a lot of stuff in this thread that has really got me thinking. Usually in these situations I tend to be pretty aggressive and try to raise in position/check-raise OOP but I just couldn't pull the trigger on this hand.

  12. If 72 dollars is > your kid....go pick the little bugger up.
