  2. per bolded, have you ever taken a shot like this?
No. I've played a little less than 1k hands of 5/10 this month, and maybe 500 hands previously, but that is as high as I have ever sat. I will only do so if the game is spectacular tho, as I know I am not good enough to play there regularly, nor do I want to handle the swings that come along with those stakes right now.
  3. Also to Lobster - why the f do you play such a wide range of limits? Is there some donk at $100nl that picked on you on the way up and you are just relentless to ruin him?Anyways, I feel like your volume is insane, everytime I look at my buddylist you're playing 5 tables. I honestly was wondering if there's some reason you do the limit thing though, I wish I could tell myself I'd play 2-3 levels below my bread and butter and play my best game.Edit: I refuse to post so many times in a row, so just LLOLOLOLOL at see wik.
I'm a game selection nit, that is the main reason. I don't care what the stakes are, I just want the easiest path to putting other people's $ in my account. Take today for instance - one of my fav donks moved down and was playing 50nl, so I sat with him til he busto'd. There was also a super soft 5/10 game running, so I sat in it. 1/2 and 2/4 are my main games and i try to stick there, but I always look up a level or two trying to maximize profits (altho there was a super crazy soft 10/20 game a few days ago that I didn't have the stomach (or bankroll lol) to sit in :ts ), and I would rather sit in a lower stakes, easier table than playing one at my normal stakes filled with regs if the games aren't all that good at a particular time.Is this the best strategy to maximize my profits? I'm not 100% sure, but I know it works for me. Do I feel ashamed that I make a living off of bum hunting? Not in the least. :club:
  4. Well, that's really the thing. I glean info off of other players on this site and though other means. My game has improved dramatically over the last 3 years. Part of that is from info I get from other players and part of it is just from experience playing thousands upon thousands of hands.I rarely contribute to strat forums or discussions. I am taking complete advantage of the kind players that like to share their intellect. I am fully and consciously a leach on the system. Other peoples knowledge is making me money. Do you see the problem here? Eventually, we will reach a point where the games are so tough that the 'skill' element of poker will be greatly diminished and the 'luck' factor will take over. I would argue that we are getting close to that point now.
    I disagree 1000000000000000000000%
  5. So, what you are saying is that you understand my point? Not sure if you noticed but online poker used to be a lot easier 2-3+ years ago. I think you can probably agree that the increase in poker ability of the average player is largely due to other players (the competition) offering guidance on forums like this, in books, on training sites, etc. I would argue that a lot of the time (not all of the time) players are offering their knowledge as a way to stroke their intellectual egos. I think they are putting their selfish need to prove their intelligence ahead of what is actually good for their own game. How do you think it would play out if Ben Roethlisberger started to share some of his favourite plays on an Internet forum before games or Tiger Woods started personally coaching Phil Mickelson (probably not the best analogies but I think it makes my point)?
I think you are overlooking the fact that having discussions and explaining thought processes actually help people teach themselves and further their own game. And yes, while there is sure to be some people who need to stoke their ego in any way imaginable, and it might be slightly -EV to help others learn, it is not like there is no information anywhere for people to learn the game - it is everywhere like you said. Also, just being given information doesn't mean that people are capable of distilling it and applying it to their own gamePlus some people are just nice. :club:
  6. I am through 2.5/3 PAD shows from this week, and as much as I like CTS, he keeps asking (what I think are) super basic questions relating to poker history / Las Vegas history and stuff, and it is putting me on tilt, lol.Anyone else agree or am I just getting grumpy that silly kids have way more $ than I do? :club:

  7. omg :(How bad did it get? Challenge thread not doing too well this week overall.
Finished down about 3k. Was down $300 for the day and on my way to robusto, then 600 hands later (after losing a 85/15, a 70/30, and a 50/50 w/in the first 50 hands, and proceeding to go into massive spew mode) I was down $3k. Made back almost half of it, but was way too tired to be playing and gave back pretty much everything I recouped before quitting.Super frustrating day for me because while I did lose those few big hands/flips, I was on tilt pretty bad, didn't stop and played by far the worst I have all year, all of which bothered me way more than the actual $ lost (....ok that might not be true, but I was super annoyed with it, lol. But, and this may sound silly, I haven't had a session like that in a really long time, and while it was brutal to lose that much, I learned a ton from it. Hopefully February is back on track and there will be no January debacle repeat.
  8. Please post suckout in hand about 1150!! I like it. Very solid day
Weeeeeee. Villain is a spaz and I was willing to get in my $ lighter than I was.
