Once most people get to the flop with QQ w/ no overs, they won't be folding. That's my experience of watching a lot of hands with lo/mid limit players. Ring games or tournies (NL of course).Tourney maybe different, but rarely. I think it is much easier to fold QQ preflop rather than to a board of under cards when you still think your opponent may have "KK or AA" cause when your opponent bets into on a ragged flop, you think AK, or maybe a smaller PP. Very rarely have I seen someone fold QQ when they get to a flop, espicially in ring games and espicially if they had a lot of their stack get in

Actually I read ENQUIRE again this morning and daniel has been having all these late nights out in clubs and stuff. Also, I can't believe Jessica Simpson and Nick L. are fighting again. I can't believe these celebrities, doesn't he realize he has the hottest wife in hollywood. I also heard all these pros like snooting coke and speed to stay up all night.i'm gonna go watch E! Tonight now.bye- Jordan

Well, this is true, but a little short (I think).Bad beats don't cost you money. Bad beats put bad players (good players too sometimes) on tilt and in turn, make small mistakes again and again that cost them money. Small mistakes turn into big mistakes, or just add up. Either way, take your bad beats in stride and avoid tilt.- Jordan

I've only been able to play a limited time due to computer restraints. But I'm up $371 at UB so that's cool I guess. Just wish I could get in more hours.- Jordan

That's a lot to make per night playing 1-2..you have any HH to post? Not saying I don't believe you, I do. Just curious to see some outrageous hands.- Jordan

A guy once transferred me $20 in good faith because my bank account was frozen due to fraud attempted by outside sources. See, I wanted to play a quick tourney online, but here at home my internet can't access UB's software, only pokerroom.com software. So I needed someone to send me funds in good faith...wellI had just met this guy and he really had no reason to trust me, but I assured him I'd get him back, as in the long run, $20 really isn't a huge some of money, and I just don't steal. He was pretty laid back about it, and in the email (PR sends emails when transfers occur), he basically s

Yes, UB plays tighter than most other sites.I'm not much up on limit play there but it sounds pretty much the same as the no limit games.I try to find a table with 40% seeing the flop. If it reaches 50% the table is weak-passive and I will play there but it's hard to make much profit as most of it's limping in, not raising. Except it's very easy to push people off flops as they normally will only play along with you, not against you.Low 30% means tight play, normally raises open most pots. I think anywhere from 35-40% are the best games at UB, sometimes the higher 40s, as long as the pots are

Hmm, when I play no limit I don't "just push in when I have the nuts", I try to bet the best amount my opponent will call. The reason I prefer NL cash games over limit cash games is not because I think NL is the best and only way to play poker, I don't. But if I'm playing hold em', then yes, I prefer NL because I feel I can extract the most from my opponent in a short amount of time. The worst NL cash game players are usually broke the quickest. You find them, you break them.NL hand reading is also important, just as in any form of poker. To say that "limit hand reading is tremndously importan

Oops, I guess you didn't clarify if it was a SnG or MTT. I just assumed it was a SnG by how you wrote the post?It was a SnG, right?- Jordan

Riky, I too play at the UB SNG and ring games. What stake were you playing? 10, 20, 30s?UB does play tighter than other sites, so in order to have success without just relying on solid starting hands (which is fine if you are catching cards early on), I'd advise to open up your game a little more early on in the tourny, preferablly in the 20-40 area at latest.I use the first two rounds to try and determine what kinda game the majority of the table is playing and pick up pots here and there in the mid levels. If it really is a tight game, as you said you were in, go ahead and open some pots wit

Is this guy for real or is he just "trolling"?I mean, he claims forum goers here have no life yet he is "wasting" time in the same.I think that was what was meant by "kettle meet the pot" or whatever the quote was.Good day.- Jordan

Online poker, how can we possibly know our opponents?Hand Histories.I always check hand histories to see what kind of cards my opponents are limping with, raising with, and from what kind of positions. The ability to take notes on players hand by hand in the online game is a huge advantage you should take advantage of. I primarily play NL Cash games and any extra info really helps in all kinds of situations.- Jordan

I think you played the hand correctly. You induced bets and calls as you wanted. What else could you ask for?Poker isn't all pre-flop obviously. You took a slight chance with baby cards and they paid off (calling a standardish raise to win his entire stack). I like this play even more cause this was a NL game (the implied odds obviously). Your "strong" opponent got unlucky, but then again, he could have lead, or check raised the flop bet (which is what I would have done had I seen you call the baby bet). How you described your prior play earlier on, this hand looked like a prime example of tryi

Another thought about playing PP in NL ring games. When I have AK against say 77, I find those to be the hands I lose the most money on when flop TP, or T2P and he flops a set, or turns a set. They are just hard to let go, even when you can be fairly certain your opponent may have a set. Sometimes you can let the hand go, sometimes you can't. You learn and move on. That what it means to be a good NL player, not just folding cause you want to make the "Right" play all the time. The bad NL players are the ones who can't learn, and won't learn, and will always pay off your sets. The bad NL players

Yea, some of the posts here have me laughing. A lot of NL situations depend on the situation. Of course Jack got lucky flopping Quads, no one would argue that, but to "question" his preflop call is pretty dumb. He obviously plays in that game a fair amount and he claimed to know his opposition, why not take a chance to break someone? I play NL games at UB where the stacks are much deeper than PP NL games so you can take certain "preflop" risks in order to break someone post flop. UB also plays (in general) tighter than other sites I have played so you can get away with making plays at a pot if

to berate or not to berate and dumbest call ever

So just cause they "might" out draw you, you won't make the proper play? That doesn't make much rational sense. It may seem correct based on some of your results...but man, it really doesn't make rational sense. You should try to get your money in w/ the best hand, or try to get draws to commit a large portion of their chips w/ only a draw. That's how you get chips, not hoping their 35% doesn't hit.And it is true that in some circumstances it "just depends". That's cool...just trying to understand...and i think i do and agree with what you are saying somewhat...however, at certain stages in tou -

It will offer both. You can play at home against the computer or you'll also be able to play it on X-BOX live. There will be a STACKED league where you'll accumulate points based on your performance, etc. Or if you'd just like to play it with friends you can do that to. The game is totally "STACKED" :wink:I just checked out that World Championship Poker game on xbox live...it's funny to see people that have over a billion dollars...in fun money. You really gotta wonder how much time that took...haha- Jordan -
Ultimate Bet is a good site.Tighter than PP for the most part, but def. money to be made there. It's more about Table selection at UB. Every game at PP is crazy you can assume...UB has it's looser games and it's tighter ones...you just need to look around. They have table stats for % to flop and average pot size to help.I have played .25 - .50 up to 1 - 2 NL games there and have been an overall winner.Good tournies as well. SNG start with 1k in chips, blinds are 7 minutes. Not neccesarilly an all in fest. Much better than PP in those regaurds.Hope this helps? Lemme know if you would like me to

You should post a smaller hand history next time...I doubt you'll get many responses. As to the specific hand...I would have led the flop (even with two jacks out there) most likely it would have ended there.I saw some of your earlier hands and it seemed like you were playing a few marginal hands for raises when you should have folded. This was a limit tourney so, I dunno, but maybe tighten up some...can't really say cuz i did'nt look at all the hand histories...Do you play cash games? Tournaments have a bigger variance...cash games are where the money is. You just need a bankroll to get starte

I can tell you.Cause they can hide behind a screen. It's called the "e-thug" syndrome. It's sad really. Imagine a wanna-be thug "in real life". Now, multiply that by about 100 - roughly 1000 times and you have an "e-thug". Granted my numbers may be off, as I don't know too many "thugs", maybe a past "thug" who was in a gang and shot and stabbed some people. But now he is at college and has changed his ways. He never really talked much about though, think he was glad he got outta that life. Rambling...Anyways, E-thug, remember the term.- Jordan

This restraunt is amazing.I live in Ohio and there are three I believe in/around the Columbus area. I don't if this restraunt is a franchise and in any other states, but I would recommend looking for it in your area sometime.I just went again tonight, and it was packed. If anyone knows what Columbus is like tonight...it ain't pretty for driving around. So the fact that we still had to wait for 30 minutes was pretty impressive. For anyone that hasn't been there, this is what you do. It's very unique...in my experiences. You sit down, order some drinks, then go up to a bar and get a bowl. The bar

Heh. I dropped out as well.I never had a major, but left during my sophmore year (this year).I'm going to Guatemala in a little bit though for 3 months to learn spanish and work at this orphanage. I'm hoping to get something outta it...I really don't want to get "trapped" into some lame job that I will hate. I know getting an education would be beneficial in finding a "good" job, but it just hasn't been my thing right now. I plan on returning, but I think the decision to leave was the best choice I could have made. Now I'm just trying to work on what to do next.Good luck bro.- Jordan
