  1. Calling doesn't put us in any bad spots. We can tailor our action on later streets in response to villain's actions. What's bad about this spot we're in now? We're at least calling; the question is can we be called by worse if we raise top two pair? Raising the flop puts us in a bad spot. We bloat the pot up with a mediocre ace and a mediocre flush draw against someone we know very little about.
I think raising the flop will more times than not keep the pot smaller (if thats what you want on later streets) than calling a flop turn and river bet made by your opponent.
  2. pot control.. and i didnt want to bloat the pot with a marginal hand.
I think your hand is pretty strong and you need to raise to take control of the hand. If he flopped 2 pair or a set hes comin back over the top and u can get away. If he calls your raise and a heart comes out u can get away. Even if he has a better ace now hes the one thats worried. Plus your 10 high flush might be good if it hits. His half pot bets at this level lead me to believe he doesnt love his hand. Take advantage of that.

Raise the flop. Take control of the hand. If you are just calling because u think u may be behind then fold. If you think your ahead raise for value. Calling just puts you in bad spots with a bigger pot.
  4. This villain isn't folding a hand which beats us imoEDIT: and for good reason. If he is going to pot flop and turn with air, than he can't fold to resistance unless he has total air. Because we will make calls with 6x and 77 etc, so if he has 8X (and prob even 6x) he's not folding
Or he has you crushed and you have no way of finding out until your whole stack is in the pot. If you think your ahead you have to pop the flop.
  5. Heres an update on my progress...Havent played much since Sunday when I last updated because its tax season. Got the br up to 1760 which is +70 since I started posting here. Havent ran amazing but have ran okay...I'm happy with the progress though being that I havent played that many hands.Working from home tomorrow thanks to the snow so Ill prob get some poker in...GL guys.

  6. When we raise either the flop or turn, we fold out his air and we get called when he actually has it, no?By calling, we allow him to continue bluffing, which he seems to like.
You got lucky when a 9 came out giving you a straight draw. Every other card above a 7 thats not already out there is a potential scare card being that he could just walk into a pair that beats you coupled with the fact that he can bluff these cards and get you to fold. Also he can already be beating you. If you think he has nothing pop the flop...you not even close to strong enough to let him see 2 cards with him dictating the action. Are you really gonna call off a pot size bet on the river with 3rd or 3th pair just because he throws money around a little bit?

This looks like your setting your self up for something terrible like calling on 2 streets and folding on the river. If you think he has air make a move on the flop or even the turn when you score yourself some more outs and find out. Call call is ugly.

Call...your getting good odds and its also likely at this level that he has something like A9 that he doesnt think is good but also is afraid to just fold it so he trys to keep the river action smaller by throwing out a weird half pot bet.
  10. That hand is pretty terrible on the river.Unless he think the guy will fold 77-99 to a shove, and the guy will bet 77-99 if checked to on river. That is the ONLY reason to shove here...and thats a pretty terrible reason. Too narrow a range, and too many things that need to happen. C/F or C/C the river (depending on villain) is best since betting will never allow him to call with worse.
Yah I agree. Shut down when he calls you on the turn.
  11. Theorem: All Rush Poker hands are trouble hands.
This is most likely true. It really threw off my whole game and sent me on a downwards spiral. In this past session I played 687 hands. Won $19. Played 100 hands of .05/.10 to warm up. Im going to try playing warm up hands ever session because I'm tired of getting killed right at the beginning. Won $10.50 there thanks to a guy who donated with top pair against my AA.Then played the rest at .10/.25 playing a mix of 6 max and full ring rush and a normal 6 max table. Made 15 at 6 max rush and lost 7 at the other 2 combined. The bankroll now sits at $1,690. Moving back up to .25/.50 at 2k. This time I'm also going to try and not cash out money...I am going to keep moving up hopefully. Here were the biggest hands with some commentary on them. No other hands really stuck out that I remember so I'll just give you the biggest winners and losers...Loser #1 An annoying hand. My bets were small because I was making them in relation to the stack sizes that I was up against rather than the pot. I figured I could get one of them all in pretty easy and ehh...i guess it worked.Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (9 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.comHero (BB) ($25)UTG ($5.42)UTG+1 ($8.15)MP1 ($10.06)MP2 ($41.25)MP3 ($8.47)CO ($57.84)Button ($12.85)SB ($6.52)Preflop: Hero is BB with 8 :D, 8 :qh1 fold, UTG+1 bets $0.85, 2 folds, MP3 calls $0.85, 3 folds, Hero calls $0.60Flop: ($2.65) 8 :club:, A :D, Q :club:(3 players)Hero checks, UTG+1 checks, MP3 checksTurn: ($2.65) 7 :club:(3 players)Hero bets $1, 1 fold, MP3 calls $1River: ($4.65) 6 :ts(2 players)Hero bets $3, MP3 raises to $6.62 (All-In), Hero calls $3.62Total pot: $17.89 | Rake: $0.89Results:Hero had 8 :D, 8 :jh (three of a kind, eights).MP3 had A :4h, A :qc (three of a kind, Aces).Outcome: MP3 won $17This hand I played poorly and is a great example of why I still play small stakes.Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (9 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.comHero (CO) ($25)Button ($9.15)SB ($24.14)BB ($11.85)UTG ($65.37)UTG+1 ($25)MP1 ($31.39)MP2 ($56.37)MP3 ($11.09)Preflop: Hero is CO with 7 :3d, 7 :club:4 folds, MP3 calls $0.25, Hero bets $1, 3 folds, MP3 calls $0.75Flop: ($2.35) 8 :club:, 8 :ts, 3 :5c(2 players)MP3 checks, Hero bets $2, MP3 calls $2Turn: ($6.35) Q :7s(2 players)MP3 checks, Hero checksRiver: ($6.35) 2 :3h(2 players)MP3 bets $4.08, Hero calls $4.08Total pot: $14.51 | Rake: $0.72Results:MP3 had 10 :club:, Q :club: (two pair, Queens and eights).Hero had 7 :D, 7 :4h (two pair, eights and sevens).Outcome: MP3 won $13.79And then a nice win to end the post in a positive manner...
