Thanks for the responses guys they are very helpful, I can see what you're trying to say. So with a hand like this (7-7) is it very dependant on the make up of the table and my position as to whether I should raise or just limp. I usually play NL, so I am used to raising to try and isolate a the pot, but I have already figured out that is a lot more difficult lol. Thanks guys

Full Table 10 Handed Limit Cash $0.25/$0.15Hero = UTG callsUTG+1 calls5 foldsHero callsSB foldsBB checksFlop ($1.10) All checkTurn ($1.10) 3checksHero betsBB calls2foldsRiver ($2.05) BB checksHero ?????Should I bet here, should I have not bet on the turn, should I have just checked it down? I thought my bet may possibley look like a flush draw, and then catch on river, even though I dont have the flush I did catch an 8, which I thought may help me as I thought if he had a jack he would have bet earlier, thought possibley had Q10 or actually had the flush, but if so why would he check? As I am new to Limit play I asked for some advice and was suggested I post some hands, so this is a hand that bugged me from my first ever Limit Session today. Thanks very much for your responses guys. I will look for the Slansky book and read through that and the section from SS2.As for the stakes I think i'll be starting at $1/$0.50 until I feel I like I am playing well (prob take a while lol). I am gonna read through some of the threads in the Limit section to see how people play because I can see a lot of players calling down all the way with 2nd or even 3rd pair. Thanks again guys!

Here's the deal, I have been playing NL Hold 'Em for about two years now and have had on and off success, mainly getting most of my winnings from tournements. I have sporadic results in NL cash games, but they are def not anything to brag about. Anyways I was playing in my local casino in a tournie and got chatting to a guy who was playing a lot better than I was and I got the impression he knew a few things, and after some discussion he suggested playing Limit Cash games in order to help my game. I have never played Limit and what I want to know is- Is there much difference between the style

I've just finished watching the qtr-finals of the national heads up championship and throughout the episode there was a bunch of things that the commentators said that made me laugh. The first being that when they were talking about Greg Raymer getting knocked out in a previous episode they got the year wrong that he won the main event. They then went on to talk about Joe Hachem being knocked out previously as well and got the year wrong that he won the main event. You'd think on a poker show that they would get stuff like that right. Also in the Chad Brown vs Kristy Gazes match-up, Chad made a

This hand has been bugging me for a few days now and I thought I'd see what you guys take on it was. I'm not sure whether I played this poorly or whether it was unlucky or whatever it was. Me = 2,525 chipsVillian = 2,760 chipsblinds = 25/50I'm in the SB and it is folded around to me.Me = Ah AcI raise to 150Villian CallsFlop = 2h 9d 3hI bet 300Villian CallsTurn 8hI bet all-inVillain callsRiver = 5s[edited results]Looking back on it I prob should not have gone all-in on the turn with possible flush out there, but what should I have done before the flop. This may sound strange but I actually find

if you go to youtube and just search 'I bet you' or even 'phil laak vs antonio esfandiari' it'll bring up all the episodes. One of my fav parts has to be them learning to dance or when they ask a random lady in the street what type of underwear she is wearing.

Would You Fold This Hand?
Dazzler69 replied to mark_999's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
I'd have probably folded as well, 2 pair is what I would put him on. If you call on the flop you have to consider how likely it is that the turn will help you out. And if it doesnt you'd be faced with the same decision if the guy bets on the turn. -
The blinds were 2000/4000 with a 200ante. Thanks for input guys it was a tough choice for me but I def see the point you guys are making!

I was playing a in a Satelitte to a £500 buy-in tournement in my local casino with the top 3 getting seats the event and only four players are left, only played against these guys at the final table and from what I had seen had been playing pretty tight from hands that were shown down.Blinds 2000/4000 with 200ante(all chip counts here are approx coz I can't remember the exact numbers)P1 80,000 (Button)P2 30,000 (SB)Me 45,000 (BB)P4 60,000I'm in the BB and get dealt QQ. Poker players have been lending money or staking Mike on and off for years so it seems strange that they would do something like this now. If he wasnt transfering money back over then surely players would stop giving him money. And whats to say he didnt pay the players back in cold hard cash?

Does anyone know any good poker shows that they show on TV in the UK. I really like watching HSP and the WSOP on the internet because I can never find it on Sky TV. I can only find the EPT and some other random poker shows that arent always that great!

Villain Raises Every Straddle
Dazzler69 replied to mtdesmoines's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
I'd think that this is the type flop you would like when your raising with a hand like that. I'd definatly call here, based on the fact that you connected well on the flop and the considerable amount of money in the pot. -
I've only ever made it to two finals tables of a fairly big tourney. Both times I have made it I was roughly in the middle of the chip stacks and one thing I noticed was that the people that started talking about deals and were really in favour of deals ended up goin up first and were bullied around by the players with large chip stacks. And every time I've watched final tables online it appears to be the weaker players at the table who, or those in weak position that are up for making deals, perhaps coz they do not have the confidence in their own play to go further. I'm not in favour of maki

Thanks for your thoughts, I hve had one of my friends who is a much better player than I am (He has paid off his student loans and 3years of tution from poker winnings, and we've only just finised) look at the hand and he aired similar thoughts. I will definately start to try and bet in a way that the odds work in my favour more. Thanks again guys!

You think my raise on the flop was too small? What do you think would have been a better raise? Thanks for your input!

When I'm playing in tournements or in S'n'Gs I tend to start trying to defend my big blind, especially if the blinds are high relative to stack size and/or the player in late position has been raising a lot when they are in position. I dont tend to do it as much or at all in cash games as I dont think the the blinds are worth defending that much in comparison to the chip stacks.Your thoughts and advice is much appreciated!

Well before the flop I didnt expect him to call with A3 so I didnt think he would have flopped the straight. I thought I was definately ahead on the flop which why I raised, and it turns out I was correct in my assessment. I thought he was on a flush draw on and and I called his all-in because it was $6 into a pot that was approx $20, I also thought I was ahead at the point as the club didnt come on the turn and I was right I was approximately a 80% favourite and then he hit one of the cards that he needed.

Thanks for the input guys it is much appreciated and will take it and attempt to use it. Seeing as most of the post suggest posting hands here is the one that got me most recently, I didn't get as tilted as I have done previously but I did get angry as hell.$0.20/$0.10 Cash GameI’m dealt 9h9c on the button and call a raise of $1 as do 2 others, so 4of us see the flop. I've been playing poker for about 18months now, I started out playing with friends and then moved to play online. I began at the real micro levels of 0.02/0.01 and slowly built myself up a bankroll playing SnG and Cash Games, after goin broke a couple of times. I managed to move up the levels quite well and have been playing at 0.50/0.25 level, but recently things are not going well for me, I lost on severeal occasions at the 0.50/0.25 level so i dropped down to try and build up again, but the same was happening. It has been a month now and I'm still losing. I used to play a fairly agressive s
