From my experience villain's with 66-99 think they have a great hand in this spot when the flop gets checked around. The key thing to remember though, is that we cannot always get value out of our monsters, sometimes our opponents holdings just do not facilitate it. There is nothing we can do sometimes, it just happens, try not to let it get to you when you flop a monster and it doesn't get paid off. This is especially the case with quads, you are often not going to get any value as it is so hard for your opponents to have anything reasonable here, basically something like 99 is the best you

Before I started playing NLHE cash I read Sklansky's No Limit Holdem theory and practice and I think this helped me to move through the micros fairly quickly. However, I think that Gordon's Little Green Book is the best for low limit ABC poker, my winrate improved a great deal after applying the concepts from this book.

I'd probably check. The key to the hand is the number of opponents. If it were HU or 3-handed I'd probably bet it. With 4 opponents your flop check does not look suspicious and there is more of a chance that someone will fill up on the turn or start thinking that their 88 is the nuts.

This sort of play works ok against some players at mid-stakes but I agree with Ricer. The best way to crush $10NL, which I think you are playing, is just to keep it very simple and play ABC poker. It's not that you can't still win by floating flops and capitalising on weakness later in the hand, you can, and your reasoning is fairly sound. It's just that I think you can develop leaks trying to incorporate this into your game too early.

I can't believe when I used to play full ring i actually folded this hand from EP.

How Many Would Fold In This Spot?
danc1984 replied to Canadianpoker83's topic in General Poker Forum
This is why I qualified my post by saying that if he based his belief that it was a solid fold on the hand ranges of his opponents then fine, but if he is saying it is a good fold because one of them had slick and hit (which i think he was actually doing), then he is very very wrong. -
That is very tough man, really ugly. I imagine it would have been a bit of a shock too, I would have been putting him on some random horribly slow-played 7.You didn't think to bet the flop here though? I prob bet it with two opponents, I mean, you are only getting money out of a spade draw, K or 7 anyways, might as well milk it for as much as you can. I prob bet a bit more on the turn also. That being said, that is one crushing river card.

How Many Would Fold In This Spot?

Fair enough if you are claiming it was a good fold based on possible ranges but please do not try to say it was a good fold based on the fact that the dude had Ak and would have beaten you. Looking at the hands shown down, it is a bad fold. -
How Many Would Fold In This Spot?

I just do not understand how he can justify the fold by what was shown down, which I think he is trying to do. If he is basing it on the possible hand ranges then fair enough, but to justify it by the hands held by his opponents and the result of the hand shows a lack of understanding of the fundamentals of the game. -

Is the OP seriously saying he made a good fold based on the hands held by his opponents? If so, wow. -
Aa With Lots Of Preflop Action
danc1984 replied to Money022's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
I play at these stakes and from my experience the villain never ever folds to a push here. Maybe stars is different, I'm not sure. The thing is, if he has QQ and an A or K flops he may not get it in. Likewise if he has KK and the A flops he may be able to get away. His 4bet here tells you that he is willing to play for stacks preflop, so I just go ahead and shove it. It achieves two things - it doesn't let him get away when he sees a flop he hates and it also prevents us from even having the possibility of getting our money in behind. If we were like 200BB deep then it might be different b -
I pot the flop. Also I never fold sets on the flop. Raise, get it in.

Bick Slick W/nut Flush Draw
danc1984 replied to Money022's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
Usually I am not a huge fan of bluffing missed draws because everyone seems to be really on the lookout for it. However, I think you chose a good spot for it here. Once he checks the river to us after we checked the turn behind him I think a river bluff is going to work enough to be profitable. -

Standard flop play, sorry about not being able to read properly. Also, FWIW I absolutely hate pf. You really think he is folding after 4betting to $14 here? I would be really surprised if he folds to your push. -
$10nl Top Pair/flush Draw Facing Raise In Pos.
danc1984 replied to KHSPoker21's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
This is very rarely a bigger ace as he limp-called preflop. I really want to get it in on the flop here, I do not like waiting for the turn with hands like this so I do not like a flop call - raise and hope to get it in. I would say that this is a draw a fair amount of the time, possibly a monster draw, maybe like 8T sometimes, which we match up pretty well against and 88 on the odd occassion. -
Yeah, as has already been stated the only real problem with this hand is the size of the flop and turn bets.
-
Both of these hands are pretty standard, you are always stacking off both times here no matter how you play them.
-
You played this hand fine. Not 3betting JJ from the BB against a btn raiser is awful IMO. Once he does this though, its QQ-AA or AK like 90% of the time I think.
-
This is a snap fold AINEC.Also, AQo is a horrible horrible hand for deepstack poker. I would probably not have played it here even if UTG+1 had not reraised.

Read a book. I found gordon's little green book decent as a start.

Thoughts On This Hand Please...
danc1984 replied to JoeyFinngars's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
I despise the preflop limp. Raise this everytime. -
I agree, although I don't think it would have changed a great deal. Otherwise you played this hand well. Check-calling the river is the right play IMO.

Aqs Turn Fd+gutshot Straight Draw
danc1984 replied to SCS's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
I don't really like a CRAI line personally.Because the villain is so laggy and his range is so wide I think we need to bet like $9-10 here and be prepared to get it in if need be. We have 12 outs and our overs may even be partials against this villain. -
Betting the river here is horrible. Do you realise you have been counterfeited?
