  1. When I first saw the trailer, thoughts of Death Race 2000 popped into my head. I thought it was going to be a remake of that movie, but that doesnt appear to be the case. I'm still gonna check it out.
  2. I've never seen championship team play with such an underdog mentality. I think thats a good thing btw.
  3. I disagree. Yes the Mavs played poorly during stretches of that game, but I havent seen any evidence they "dont play well during crucial situations of high profile games."However, the Suns are a poor rebounding team and have been all year. Its not too bad now, but thats not a good thing come playoff time. It going to catch up to them sooned or later.
  4. That was an awsome game. But I feel that the Mavs did more to lose that game than the Suns did to win. Hit a couple of free throws and the game doesnt go into OT. After the misses the Mavs seemed to make a lot of mistakes. And I know the Suns fans are happy with getting a victory over the Mavs, but I'd still be worried. The Suns offense was clicking and they still only won by 2 in double OT eventhough the Mavs offense was just OK. Why? The Suns got creamed on the boards (which happens more often than it should). They cant let that happen come playoff time.
  5. Now I liked this episode. It looks like John blew up the facility on purpose since he took some of the C4. I'm guessing he actual doesnt want to be rescued. He wants to find out why he'e really there and whats so special about this island. Who's knows now. It's getting more confusing, but more interesting too.I'm looking forward to next weeks episode.
  6. I think we still couldve chopped at that point if I wouldve asked and he agreed. I'm not sure about the casino rules, but I think they would let this go. I couldve folded also. I'm not sure if they would let us keep betting had I asked to play out the hand after he showed his cards (not sure about the rules and how strictly they're enforced).I think I see your point though.
  7. This is what happened. They dont rake on a pot that small. And yes, I wanted to chop it. The other guy wanted to run it.And I do think they were surprised by my call. Someone made a comment that I was dominated preflop. Oh well.
  8. The hand is so boring but I just wanted to make sure I'm not crazy here. The local casinos are about the weakest places you could imagine. On about 3 occassions I've seen it get get folded all the way around to the blinds. In which case, they people usually mutually agree to just take back the blinds and move the button for the next hand. Like the hand never happened. This was one of those occassions. The blinds are 1/3 and I'm in the small blind with JQo. Its folded all the way around to me and I'm just about to ask the guy if he wants to take back the blinds. Before I can do this, he ask
  9. LOL I'm looking at this question again and I realize it was probably just a joke meant to have people attempt to solve this thing using complicated physics. If that's the case then you got me. (I went into all sorts of stuff about moving refernce frames).Since the belt moves at a speed equal and opposite to the wheels, the wheels stay in place. It makes no difference what the propulsion system is. Its just as if you took a toy car and held it in place on a moving tredmill. The wheels would spin with a velocity equal and opposite to the tredmill (which is just like main the contraint of o
  10. I was thinking this too, but I think it does make sense.Yes the first shot was not meant to kil Sayid. This was to find out more info about exactly how Sayid got there. At this point he doesnt know Kate and John are in the jungle. The Kate and John rush him, fire a couple of shots, the he surrenders. He could easily fight to the death, but the woman and more important information is downstairs. This was done to hopefully get them to leave later. Patching up Sayid was also for the same reason. Make them feel like he's a friend. That might get them to leave, and be of use later on.And he c
  11. Now this i agree with, and yes i'm too lazy do it either. I was tring to mention the fictional force between the tires and belt, but I may not have stated it very well.
  12. Yes I know. What I was trying to say is that there is friction between the tires and the conveyor belt.Anyways, I disagree that the wheels/conveyor-belt contact has no effect on the plane. Imagine that the plane is setting on the conveyor, and I'm not on the conveyor belt. With the aircraft enigines turned OFF, I ,flip the switch and start the conveyor belt. I think we would all agree that the plane moves backwards relative to me. There must be some force between the conveyor belt and the plane to make this possible. The only way that can happen is through the contact between the wheels
  13. It just depends on someones situation. If someone is already in poverty in a 3rd world country, they would fight to the death to get a chance at that wheel. Bill Gates would probably run like hell and rather forget the wheel even existed.Me, I wouldnt touch that thing.
  14. While I already responded to comment in this same post, I would like to point out that this scenario is NOT like the original problem. Relative to someone watching the plane at 100 knots, the ground is NOT moving. Yes relative to the plane the gound is moving at -100 knots, but in that reference frame the plane is NOT moving. What you did is simply use 2 values from 2 different reference frames which is big no-no.
  15. Onced agian, thats not true. And I'm not sure why everyone is focused on the bearings. There is friction between the rubber of the tires and the pavement. And that frictional force depends on the force in the normal direction (gravity). Think of sand paper. The more pressure you apply downward, the harder it is to move. On our conveyor belt that still exists. And since the wheels are attached to the plane, that force is transfered to the plane. You have to count the total force.Using your bike/jetpack analogy. If the treadmill moves backwards at 5 mph and you jet back is turned off, y
  16. Not true. The plane slows. It's not instantaneous but it does slow down. And it will slow down to complete stop even it is wasnt breaking. It's because of the friction between the wheels and the runway. Just becuase its a wheel doesnt mean there's no friction. If the runway was made of ice, there would still be friction (very small but still there).
  17. I made a previous post about about an airboat (one of those boats they use in swamps that uses air propulsion). I dont think anyone understood my point but I thinks its valid. I still think the problem needs some extra info, or stated more clearly, to be adequately answered.I think supporters of the plane taking off are not taking into account moving coordinate systems. The plane and its wheels dont care if the conveyor belt is moving. All the plane knows is that its on a surface. Moving or stationary doesnt matter. Whats important in the relative airspeed (and thats something the proble
  18. If you are talking about the top 5, I dont think think you can put the PC guys like Jobs up there. Computers had existed for years. They just shrunk the size of the thing and sold it to individuals. I would think the inventor of the first computer would rank much higher.IMO, Jobs and Co. took the small step of creating the PC market. The invention of the computer itself is a much larger step. BTW, who actually gets credit for the first computer?
  19. Thats exactly what I was thinking. It says ALL communications are down. Then says to enter a number if the station had been compromised. (In other words taken over). What else was gonna happen?
  20. Historically speaking it would be huge. All the teams with the type of record the Mavs are putting up have rolled to the title. Not just barely made it. They dominated. Meaning if the Mavs lose they will become frequently listed in basketball trivia as the best team NOT to win the title. They would join the 73 Celtics as the only teams in NBA history to have a winning percentage over .800 and NOT win the title. Thats what we're dealing with and its significant.About the Spurs, they were my preseason pick and I love them. They're a very good team on a good run right now, but the bottom l
  21. Read what I bolded. How did you respond to that?I was once called for jury duty and they asked me a specific question, "There is a one witness law in Texas. Meaning the word on one witness is enough to put someone away. If you are on a jury, could you put someone away based on the testimony of one wintess?" (At least the question was something like that). I answered an emphatic NO. I would not do that. Needless to say I was out of there. If you have a problem with the laws, you need to say so up front.
  22. I thought the answer was obvious, but after lookinh at the answers, I'm confused by the question. The way I orginally interpeted the question was that if the aircraft tries to move forward at 10 mph, then the belt moves backward at 10 mph and nulls out the forward momentum. Therefore the aircraft doesnt move relative to a stationary observer on the ground. What happens if the belt moves backward at 10 mph with the aircraft engines turned off? I would guess the plane would move backwards. If not, then theres something about the setup of this imaginary problem that isnt being mentioned or I
  23. I've thought about the Mavs being in a tough conference and I've come to the conculsion they should still make the finals easy. Here's why: While they are in a tough conference, they racked up that great record against those same tough teams. The 72 Lakers and the 97 Bulls also played in very tough conferences and they still rolled when it came playoff time. Those teams have the 2nd and 3rd best records in NBA history, and the Mavs are on that exact same pace. (The Laker and Bulls winning percentage was .841. the current Mavs are at .850). Teams that rack up that type of record are just
  24. The Heat are only 6.5 games away from the top spot in the East. That both hilarious and scary at the same time. Now there's no way the Heat catch the Pistons, but I have no faith in any of the other teams. Those spots are up for grabs. I could see the Heat grabbing the 3rd seed easy.
