Yep, alot of good stuff in this thread. At least we'll never this Mavericks team.
-
Is that an unconditional pick? Usually when teams trade a pick, they almost always put an exception if it ends up winning the lottery. I'm not disagreeing with you btw. I'm actualy curious.
-
Destroy is a strong word here. First, the surprise element is gone. Either of those teams will be ready right at tip off in game 1. Second, the Jazz/Rockets will show way more heart and fight than the Mavs ever did in that series. Third, Baron Davis was absolutely on fire this series. He hit about 54% of his shots and 45% from the 3. Thats way above his normal averages. He's got to cool off at some point. The Jazz/Rockets should both be favored over the Warriors. The Jazz, with their quickness, would matchup better with the Warriors. The Rockets would have a tougher time.

I agree. If the Nuggets/Sonics series was the best of 7, I think the Sonic might have come back. It was a hard faught series and went 5 games. In Warriors/Mavs series the Mavs were on the defensive from the outset. I think Avery's decision to go small in game is one of the biggest coaching mistakes I've ever seen. The Mavs had a better record than the old Sonics team, a coach who just won Coach of the Year last season, and probably this season's MVP (which is painful to say at this point). This upset was huge.

I hope so.I think game seven really comes down to Yao and the Jazz defense against him. Yao needs to get deeper position, keep the turnovers down, control the paint with rebounding, and play better defense. Yao has actually had a better series than some of the writers give him credit for, but he hasnt dominated a game like he's capable of.I see Tmac doing his thing in game 7. He just doesnt want to go home yet.I'm not surprised this series went seven. Both are very good teams, and unfortunately one is going to be very disappointed.

In now way better? I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but the Cavs actully had a better record this season than the Bulls. Now it was just one game better, and you could argue that one game is insignificant. But at worst that Cavs and Bulls are about equal. I think the Cavs are slightly better since Lebron is by far the best player on either team.
-
Exactly what did you say? If you said the Bulls are getting to the 2nd round, then kudos to you, but I couldnt find that comment.Preseason comments are always intersting when you look back. I'll explain those picks.1. Heat - Their injuries were way worse than I expected. Even Riley was out at one point, and Wade's injury sealed the deal. They ended up finishing 5th. Their mental breakdown in the Bulls series was awful (that wouldnt have won it for them, but still).2. Cavs - How was I suppose to know Lebron would take 2/3 of the season off? They finished 3rd which is ahead of your Bulls b

About Cubans blog, I'm sure some of it was because of Stern and the NBA office, but it might also have to do with all the other people who comment there when the Mavs are in the playoffs. I was reading it last year during the Finals and at one point he had to actually turn comments off. It was just getting flooded with a lot of worthless comment.

I agree the Mavs dont matchup well with the Warriors. And of course Nelson's knowledge about all the Mavs players doesnt hurt. Still, this is a historical upset if it happens. I thought the Mavs would win the last game just from pride alone. It didnt happen. If I were a Mavs fan, I would be very worried.BTW, for all the Mavs fans who remember the Mavs coming back against the Rockets 2 years ago, this is way different. That series changed when the refs mysteriously started calling moving picks on Yao Ming after Cuban complained to the league. Van Gundy then made a comment about it, Stern

Its amazing with all the sweeps out East. The Western conference are haveing way more competitive matchups. Not that surprising but still. The Jazz/Rockets game tonight was excellent.
-
They play the winner of Jazz/Rockets. Playing the Jazz/Rockets is better than playing the Spurs or Suns, but make no mistake, both the Jazz and Rockets are good teams. If the West wasnt so loaded they would be mentioned more often as title contenders.BTW, figuring out who you're going to play next when your up 3-1 is some serious bad karma dude.
-
My next bold prediction is that the Sun rises in the east tomorrow morning.

The margin of victory in game 2 of the Heat-Bulls series doesnt concern me. The Bulls are not going to continue to shoot that well from the 3point line (no one can). But I am concerned of the Heats overall attitude.BTW, I expect both the Spurs and Mavs to win tonight.

Slight derail here as flopping drives me crazy. The refs should be told the following by the league: when there is contact between 2 players and the defensive player cries out like he's just been shot by a sniper, the defensive man is flopping, trying to get the call, and no foul should be called.
-
What about Yao Ming? But I hear ya, the center position is pretty weak these days.
-
LOL. Combine that with the fact he's 101 years old, and genetically speaking this has to be one of the toughest people on Earth.I also liked that he is an organ donor. How would you like to know that your replacement part was from a 101 year old man.

Dennis Greenhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_N1OjGhIFcAnyways, I agree with you. The Heat really missed Wade in those final minutes. He dominates the ball in the final minutes. Today we saw why. Hopefully when he comes back, he'll still be effective (at least 85%).

** The Official Los Angeles Lakers Thread **

Wow! Wild game last night. Kobe went off for 53 and they still lost, but it did go to OT. And Odom had 16 pts and 17 boards. Tough loss for the Lakers.Of course, my team had its own guy go off. Yao was unstoppable down low scoring 39 pts, grabbing 11 boards, and getting 4 blocks. McGrady didnt shoot too well but did score 30. More importantly he had 10 assist. Big win for the Rockets. -
Good point. Villian has me confused. That pot is really small. It got checked through on the flop, then bet by the hero, and then checked on the river. A lot of people would think we're full of it. If there's anytime for him to bluff, its on river after we check, but he's so passive I'm not sure he'll do it. I hate folding TP to one river bet though. Weakness on my part.

I understand your point, but what about cleaning up other outs. I'm think about if we pair one of hole cards. I know this depends on the board, our hole cards, and players invloved. But does this matter? Even then, at a lot of low limits a lot people call 2 cold anyways. Are we leaving money on the table?
-
I dont think he has a pocket pair. I think a pocket pair would bet the flop after raising preflop with that board. Anything better than pocket 5's is in good shape there. If he was trying to trap with a set, he'd probably raise the turn.I'm guessing he has a suited Ace or AK/AQ offsuit. You mentioned him being somewhat passive. He might think since you are the BB, you caught a piece and thats why he didnt bet. I'm kind of mystified why he didnt the bet the flop with position after raising preflop and having it checked to him.Considering how passive the villian was, I dont see him calling

I thoguth last night's esisode by itself was ok. The big problem is that they left us hanging with what they revealed last week. They basically made everyone wait two weeks to what see happens at the Others camp. That pisses me off. Quite honestly, this episode could have been shown anytime and had the same impact (which is almost zero). They found the radio which I could see them working into a future episode, but that seems like a total waste of an hour just to get a prop. I guess they could work in the spiders, but the one person left who knew about their paralyzing poison was buried a
