  1. hey smash,i see you will usually fire out a bet after missing the flop with pre-flop raise. is this a move you use all the time? i do it in no-limit and it works well but i thought of it as being a little too risky in limit. But by the results you were getting doing it, it seems like a good strategy to follow.tg
  2. AQ utg+1 isn't the greatest hand in my books. sometimes i would raise but if someone comes over the top of me I pretty much have to pitch it.
  3. After about 3 months of play on Party poker I am sitting here with my original deposit. Thats it! I'm not going to sit here and say that I'm a great player that should be making thousands a month but I do feel that I have more knowledge than most of the players at the lower limits. At first I thought it was just because I was playing low limit holdem (.50-1.00) where its hard to drive out the idiots holding out for a runner runner flush. But this weekend I have probably lost close to $60 playing $5+1 NLH sng's. It seems there is no skill at this level what so ever and its a complete craps
  4. hey man, stuff like that happens. Especially at the lower limits online but you got to let a cooler head prevail. On a side note, is there a book out somewhere that tells internet players that they should go all-in with a flush draw? Because I see it in every sng and tourny I play in nowadays. Here's an example:#Game No : 1515653296 ***** Hand History for Game 1515653296 *****NL Hold'em Trny:9128456 Level:2 Blinds (10/20) - Sunday, January 30, 15:14:01 EDT 2005Table 2 - Table(229466) Table #1 (Real Money)Seat 7 is the buttonTotal number of players : 9 Seat 2: OldNissanGuy ( $875 )Seat 3: moke
  5. Its hard to get paid off with quads because most times (like this instance) you have all the cards. He might of called your pre-flop raise with Ace anything so thats all he probably had was ace high. Most times with that flop you won't get paid a dime. But, i do think your bet was a little much on the river. I would of bet about half the pot. I think its a good idea to check all the way to the river because you want to give him every opportunity to improve his hand so that he will be more willing to call a raise. But all in all just be happy you won the hand.
  6. PUMP IT OR DUMP IT!That means if your first in the pot (assuming you have the cards to play that hand) you raise. If you can't raise, get rid of it. This is especially true of playing in early position. Of course if your in late position and there is already multiple limpers in it is okay to limp as well. Chances are you might drive a few of them out with a raise but if they think your putting a play on them, they might come over the top of you. Also, if it is raised in front of you it really depends on your read of the player as to wheter fold, smooth call or re-raise.Hope this helps.tg
  7. Thanks guys, i like the advice. I think i just need to switch gears more often and play fearless at times. I have become accustom to not putting my entire stack at risk until i have to. I don't lose this way but i don't win either.
  8. Just wondering if anyone has any strategies when it comes to building a large stack early in a large tournament.I usually play NL Holdem tourny's on Party Poker @ the $22 or $33 buy-in level. My strategy so far has been to let the maniacs knock each other out early on and to sit back and wait for some premium hands. While this has helped me get to the later stages of tournaments I am never more than an average stack throughout the tournament. When I get to the point of the tournament (say 200 left out of 1000) I feel like my average stack cannot handle the size of the bets as almost every pot
