  1. What would worry me about that situation is his small raise within the context of his recent pushing aggression. That tells me that he wants you to call. That said, he could still have a fairly wide range and KJs is a decent hand to compete with. I think you picked a good time to make a stand by pushing back against him. The fact that he thought about it for so long and studied you suggests that you took him by surprise. Given his small raise, though, it's not surprising that he was holding a pretty decent hand.
  2. This may be just repeating what has already been said, but it seems to me there are only 2 general circumstances in which betting on the river makes sense:1) If you're trying to steal the pot with a bluff, in which case you have to make sure you've set it up well from the beginning;2) If you're confident that you have the strongest hand but the board is such that your opponent might think he has the strongest hand or can bluff you off the pot (e.g., you have a "hidden" full house and there is a straight or flush on the board).Other than that I think it's usually best to just check the river.
  3. Any information on the opponents? It's conceivable that one of them limped in with JT-AT, in which case you're outkicked on the set, and it's also possible one of them limped in with 77 and flopped the full house. Given that they're both willing to push all in on that flop, there is a damn good chance you're beat. But your stack is deep enough that you can call it down and still have a decent enough sized stack to keep going if you lose. Since button is already all-in and UTG is just about all-in, you also don't have to worry about making any more decisions and putting any more $ into the po
  4. I ended up choosing the $10K raise but what gave me pause was the concern that Mr. Desperate might respond by pushing all-in. I'm assuming that the correct move at that point would be to throw away the hand, right?(By the way, it's great seeing a fellow Toronto boy tear up the world of big stakes poker!)
