That's because its so stigmatized. Don't think that's really anything but a post-hoc justification. As someone said, siblings can have sex outside of marriage. I don't see why the size of the minority allows discrimination against them. If there are ten sibling couples that want to get married, why should they not have the same rights to marry as everyone else just because there are fewer of them? Don't think orgasm is a great example. We know quite about about the reward circuitry in the brain. There's also a decent number of functional brain imaging studies of orgasm in humans now, and none of it is too mysterious. Intelligence, now that's a much better example.
