I would say that it's a decision that you have to make. That as long as you can justify you're playing poker with your walk with Christ feel free, but understand that there's a lot of pitfalls associated with it, as I'm sure you're aware of. If you feel in any way like it's hampering your walk, you need to back away immediately. Remember, we are only here on this earth for a short period of time...and all the things that come along with playing poker (paying for college, nice car, home, etc.) are only temporary. I feel like I'm getting seriously preachy here lol. But just remember, you and only you have to give an account of your life to the Big Guy one day, and as long as you can do that with a pure heart and contrite spirit after playing poker for a living...then by all means proceed. And as far as talking to your parents is concerned, please just keep the 5th Commandment in mind. You may not owe them an explanation since you're old enough to make your own decisions in life, but you still must honor them.Okay, off of my soapbox. Thanks for this post. The "good steward" thing is something that has stuck with me for several years that my pastor said in a sermon. That and he also said that the Bible didn't call gambling a sin. I've wondered many times if I took this too literally just because it was convenient to do so. Forgive me if I treat you as an "expert witness" considering you're a poker-playing youth pastor, but what are your opinions of poker as a profession, either long or short-term? As for the tithing, that is definitely something that I need to contemplate and address. -
This is a tough spot that you're in bro. I myself am a Christian, as a matter of fact I am a Youth Pastor. And the fact that I play poker is something that I try to reconcile with my beliefs every day. The Bible doesn't outright call gambling a sin, but it does say that we need to be good "stewards" with our money. Now whether or not that means that we shouldn't be playing cards for money is another story. It really is a decision that you have to make. As long as you're giving him the "firstfruits" of your labor...then everything else is up to you. I know a lot of Christians who play the stock market, or the lottery...heck my pastor stopped in Vegas on his way home from a business meeting and played some slots once. I just don't think it's as black and white as some Christians make it out to be. But again, it's a personal decision and as long as you don't feel God telling you to step away from the table, then you're probably okay. I trust that he'll let you know when it's time to stop. Whatever you decide man, God Bless you!

Consider your words markedPhil Hellmuth is playing the best poker of his career bar none. I have been following the action since day two and there hasn't been one time that PH has gotten his money in with the worst hand. That is a huge accomplishment in a 5-6 day tournament. He is reading people phenominally and imo he will take this down. He has won everything else in poker except for a WPT or EPT title. This will be his first WPT victory. Mark my words. -
Did I seriously just read the words "Pu$$y pictures" from David Sklansky? Ummmmmm yeeeeeeeeah, I'm gonna need him to back away from the keyboard.

Losing 100 lbs. in 1 year is definitely doable as long as you're seriously committed. I did this very thing about 5 years ago. I weighed about 320, and lost 120 lbs. in 1 year. However if you really want to keep it off, I would caution against using money as your primary means of motivation. Sure it might initially help you to get off some pounds, but in the long run it won't help you to keep it off. You've got to change your whole mindset when it comes to food and health (not to sound preachy). The reason I know this is because I put back on the entire 120 lbs. I had a motivating factor back then ( a girl...who eventually became my girlfriend
, but it was all downhill from there. I got comfortable in the relationship and the weight all came back. Needless to say we've broken up since then (not because of the weight gain), and now I have an all new reason to lose it again...heart disease runs in my family. So if you're just looking to make some $$, then go for it...but if you want to really lose it and keep it off, then you've got to be serious about it.I know this doesn't answer any questions about odds or anything, but it's just my 2 cents on the whole health aspect. Whatever you decide, good luck to you...I'll be losing it (again) right along with you.

Thanks for airing out my poor stats...what site was that, Full Tilt, yeah, I've had a horrible time there.Let me clue you in on something: When someone calls you an idiot on the internet, it's rarely anything based on something personal. You want to be a douche and retort like that to me having an opinion, well, go **** yourself. You want to take this to a table? We can go head's up in a tourney, if you like. Anywhere in the $10-$20 range is still within my BR, despite what my stats say. You want to run your mouth off? Let's do it on Stars, because I'll have no chat to respond with. We can even make it best of three when you lose the first one.You pick me out of ALL these people to run your mouth at? Go fuck yourself and put up some $$$ to back it up with, you stupid little fuck. PS: You cost your "roomie" some money, pos. You owe him a dinner, at very least. Moron.Working tonight from 4 until 9/10, then I will be happy to stack youWill your tuba lesson be over by then liddle girl ??And like i wasnt gona buy him dinner, or stake him, or a case anywaysand your stars stats...arent much better

Other definitions of atheism: The docrtine or BELIEF that there is no God. ACTIVELY DISBELIEVING in the existence of deities. So no...we're not all born atheists, but nice try.everyone is born an atheist. atheism is just lack of belief. -
There is not such thing as a "born Christian," it's a decision you make when you have the wherewithall to make it. Just like nobody is born and atheist or a buddhist.I think Barry is a non-pracising Jew or an atheist with Jewish values, summin like that.It depends if you are talking about practising christians, or born christians -
If it was FTP I would

about 30-40 mins. away there is an Indian casino called Cache Creek. They just built a beautiful brand new poker room with about 20 tables and flat panel TV's around the entire room...usually pretty decent action depending on what you want to play. Maybe try mapquesting it to see if it's do-able. Hope this helps
