  1. You deposited $50 and started with 1/2? That's suicide. I would deposit $50, short buy into a .05/.10 game and grind my way to atleast $200 before moving to .10/.25. If you played 3/6 with a 1200 BR that will never work in the long run. That's 2 buy-ins. Most people on this forum have atleast 20 buy-ins in their BR. Use your head, and you will move up quickly.
  2. At my home games, I frequently hear...."Omaha is gay."Then we just keep play Hold Em. Rarely we play Razz, and Omaha/8.
  3. Why is the option of going to college not mentioned? Sure it will set you back monetarily, but it will easily pay off. If you are into business, get a degree and you can easily find a job paying 50K+ somewhere. You can have a regular undergrad degree done in 3 years if you kill yourself. Sacrificing 3 years of your life is not that bad when you are only 26. Heck, now that I think of it, you can have that degree done in 2 1/2 years. Take 18 credits a semesters for 5 semesters. That's 81 credit hours. Take full time summer school for 3 summers and that's 126 credit hours. Think about it
  4. Not really a million dollar cash game. Their might be 1 mill on the table, not each person. The title got me excited.
  5. No. It isn't worth the trip. At any casino, if you look under 21, they will card you. It will look pretty dumb when you get there, get carded, and have to go home. Now, their is a chance you can just walk on the floor without a problem. Some casinos are pretty relaxed about their carding policies. Here's a tip: If you can grow facial hair, grow a beard. It will make you look older. I'm serious.
  6. We've screwed Latin America pretty good. We'll screw again, just give it time.
  7. You want variance, play 3/6 limit at a casino.
  8. When is FCP going to run on a Mac? Probably never right.
  9. Your goal in limit, and all poker is to give your opponents the worst odds on their hand and still have them call. 3 betting that flop is the right play.
  10. OP, it sounds like you really need to pick up a few books about basic poker. I suggest reading the "Theory of Poker." It will help you with your game greatly. As for drawing hands, you really need to know about odds in order to get into these type of hands. Odds are a key thing in limit.
  11. Fold the gutshot. Your odds are bad. You need to be getting 12.5-1 on the turn card for you to call. You were getting 6-1. As for the other poster about position, it really isn't as important in LHE. You know how much they can bet/raise. In no limit, your opponent bets any amount, making you think about the hand way more. Position is not as important in LHE.
  12. Variance in limit can be ridiculous. It can bring you to your knees. Maybe that was the wrong wording, but it can be bad. I play 10 hours of 3/6 at my casino and lost 1.3 BB. I bought in for 80, went all the way up to 212, then way back down to 72. It was sick. I played good solid poker, but kept getting run down by donks. I watched a complete noob make a 40BB in 40 minutes. He then asked, "what do I do when I want to go to the bathroom?" Complete noob. Main point - Don't expect to steal any pots. Position in LHE, isn't nearly as important as it is in NL. If you are playing a full
  13. It isn't hard at all. Say the pot is at $200. Someone bets $50 and the action is to you. Their is now $250 in the pot. Now you want to raise. First you have to call the $50, making the pot $300. Got it?Since their is $300 in the pot, you can now bet up to $300 more.
  14. 3 BB + 1 per limper is 8 BB. So, yes raising to 325 is stupid. You are almost screwing yourself by committing early. Maybe if you are on the button that raise would make a little more sense to me. On the flop - continuation bet. Checking is a mistake. If you get called, check/fold the turn - especially with 2 overs.
  15. If you are winning a lot of pots, then the session fee actually helps you. People forget that. When you are losing, it's the worst system in the world. When you are winning, it's a great system. If they are raking, and you win 3 pots in hour, the rake takes $15. 1 hour in a session fee game might only cost you $10,12, 14 an hour. Think about that.
  16. Pineapple Hi/Lo. Brilliant came I just heard about. They actually have it in a few casinos in LA. The twist is that for the low you can actually choose to use 1 or 2 hole cards. Very interesting. That will get even the tighest players to tilt.
  17. Good game man. That's a nice win - $1350 for a $5 T is damn good.
  18. I realize his magic is questionable. But what about his 7+ minutes holding his breath underwater?
  19. They only pay out $20,000? I calculate the entry fees and it is $30,600 that the casino takes in and they only pay out 20k. Ha, you are getting absolutely raped by that rake. I would highly suggest you don't play that tournament.
  20. Soaring Eagle spreads up to 20-40. That is extremely rare and I haven't even seen that game. They have 3-6, 6-12, and late at night they will get a juicy 10-20 game going. Full of rich retired folk and a few young guys. They have 1-2 but it's bad.
  21. The standard pre-flop raise is the first thing that you will have to get used to. I was rudely awakened to this when I first play 1/2. Guys would raise to $17 and you just bought in for 100. What the heck do you do now? You are forced to immediatley double up or play extremely tight. AK or better. So, I finally figured this out after a few times going to the casino. I sat down in a 1/2, 100 max game and the first hand I was dealth KK. A guy from early position raised to 25!!!! That's a 12.5 BB raise. I looked down at kings and shoved. I wanted a call but at the same time I wanted the
  22. So...can you re-buy or not???
  23. The problem is that you have to win. Second place is nothing, right? You have to get extremely lucky in order to win. I played a 315 super-satellite freeroll on FTP for a WSOP seat. I someone managed to win that tourney and I am in some Round 2 tourney. I would rather take the $216 buy-in and play 10 - $20 SNG's.
